New thread to show what handbag you're using today, or what you're contemplating purchasing.

I'm lusting after this.

When I look for a new bag - brand is 100% irrelevant. I don’t want one with a “brand” pattern stamped on it or something hanging from it with a symbol or label. Why is a name important? It doesn’t necessarily mean quality.

RosesAndHellebores · 31/03/2024 15:19

I agree with @Parker231. I can make a tiny exception for the classic gucci print - not that I have one.

I work in the public sector, albeit senior, and Coach, entirely unlabelled which usually costs far more, is as far as I would go. If I were in a City Bank, as I was in my 20s/30s, it wouldn't bother me at all.

BlueLimeRun · 31/03/2024 15:36

It would be nice to have this thread as non judgmental.

It doesn’t really matter if some posters like particular styles/brands.

@Floofydawg I prefer your Mulberry.

I need a new bag for the summer, £500 price point as it's for every day and work so can't go too far over the top, probably: Coach, Spade, Aspinall, Smythson. I need to see and touch bags to chose so need a trip up to Regent Street and can't be bovvered. My nearest John Lewis doesn't carry much stock nowadays.

I want something stone/taupe coloured, not too big and not too small and not with an obvious "designer name" on it.

Furla? Has a store on regent street if you can be bothered and well within budget. Maybe something like this? Think they have smaller models if that one’s a bit too big. I’ve got quite a collection now and never had any issues with quality.

@RosesAndHellebores Aspinal?

RosesAndHellebores · 31/03/2024 16:10

I like the stone furla very much. My apologies if I came across as judgemental. I was merely stating my preference rather than slating that of others.

Mamette · 31/03/2024 16:16

I have that Furla Net in black and do you know what, I rarely use it because the twisty locking thing sticks out quite a lot and annoys my arm.

I am using an olive green Pliage just to get to the end of the winter and then maybe move to this Tod’s although it’s a bit of a squeeze for my laptop.

I find the Pliage so hard to beat for practicality in a work bag. I’m just bored of them and they are so ubiquitous rn.

The Tod’s bag is actually dusky pink not whatever colour it looks in the photo.

I'm considering a coach Mira- I just want it as a little bag I can grab and shove my purse, phone keys and a lipstick in for things like nipping to the pub, as a day to evening bag for times when it's a shopping trip running into evening drinks and a meal out etc.

I'm attracted to the blingy chain strap which is really weighty. Are chain straps tacky? I can't decide. And if it's a yes- which would be classier- the ivory with gold or the black and silver? Or maybe I need both... 😁

@Floofydawg - I was using the same bag today but in a stone colour.

@Mamette - what are the straps like on the Tods bag, sturdy? I’m in the market for a tote.

misscockerspaniel · 31/03/2024 16:58

RosesAndHellebores · 31/03/2024 14:16

@Floofydawg - not keen on a used bag unless I know its exact provenance. I'm not expert enough to sniff out fakes.

Do not look at the pre-loved section on the Mulberry website, it is addictive. (Sorry, could not get clicky link to work, but that is probably not a bad thing).

FluffyFanny · 31/03/2024 17:45

The Tod's tote looks lovely!

I'm very keen on this at the moment, even though a white bag is totally impractical:

I’m in love! Might have to buy pre holiday!

I just love it! There's something so clean and fresh about it.

FluffyFanny · 31/03/2024 18:36

Woah! That Chanel bag is beautiful!

iloveshetlandponies · 31/03/2024 18:36

These are my two prized possessions

A Saint Laurent Lou Lou toy puffer (took the pic the day I bought it hence the rather staged-ness of it 😂) . I was very proud as it was my first new designer bag I'd ever owned

And a 1990s single flap lamb skin Chanel , it's not the best condition but I love it

I only bought it recently, and used the eBay authentication service and I suspect that's still taking a bit of a gamble. I'm nervous about posting it tbh for this reason 🥺 🙏 .

@countdowntonap

Love the le pliage! I bought my daughter a similar one recently, can't remember what it's called as not that familiar with le pliage. but apparently it's very trendy and popular 😂

Nothing judgemental on my post - just my preference. I’d like a new bag - budget up to £2,500 but don’t want one which is easily identifiable as a particular brand. Am in Milan in June so will look there - have had good shopping experiences previously.

countdowntonap · 31/03/2024 18:57

@iloveshetlandponies I have a classic Le Pliage (now relegated to beach bag) and a Le Pliage Neo which is perfect as a flight bag. They really withstand wear and tear!
