@Parker231 Yes you might just be best waiting to see when you’re in Milan. I bought a beautiful bag in Paros last summer, lovely leather and only a handful in each design. Walked past the store three times before I took the plunge and indulged in the bag that had caught my eye each time.

Does anyone have a "one that got away" bag? Mine is the Longchamp Effrontee crossbody (blue or red variant with black and white). Every so often I check the resale sites but no joy so far. There are some available overseas but I'm a bit leery about risking it.

@FluffyFanny I don’t think chain straps are dated as they are ideal for day to evening bags, turning a hobo into something more elevated. As my head is firmly in Spring/Summer mode I would got with the Ivory : Gold colour way. I’m not sure I like the other one (but that’s obviously just my preference).

@iloveshetlandponies I really like the Willow. I'd have bought the purply/burgundy in the autumn but the colour block on that was gaudy.

Think I'll venture to Regent Street next Saturday. I want to check out Aspinal and Furla too.

I love the look of chain straps but remember wrecking a cashmere Jaeger coat by wearing one cross body back in about 1991! A lovely diagonal bald stripe across the coat! It rather put me off.

I love my chain strap red lily. But I only use it at Christmas because of the colour!

Crikey @floofydawg, it's lovely. Serious question but how do you justify that expense on a once a year bag. Not meant to be judgemental at all but I imagine you must be mega wealthy - hedge fund territory.

@Floofydawg I have this Mulberry but in a different colour, it’s my current bag and I love it!

@RosesAndHellebores Its worth keeping an eye on the Mulberry sales and outlets, there were lots of crossbody bags around the £500 mark (some cheaper) when I bought mine.

No one said it did. Bit of you like a certain make of bag and you can afford it? I’m not sure this thread was set up for a discussion on the merits of bags to be honest, unless someone asks. I think you are asking a question that’s not been asked.

I use it all through November and December so not really once a year. And I'm not mega rich, no. But I do ok.

Can someone explain to me why you WEAR a bag? You use it or you carry it surely?

@musthorse because it's part of an outfit and it's a handbag rather than a piece of luggage or a rucksack.

I think the terminology changed over the last few years when the crossbody bag became very popular. - which you do wear I suppose.
Either that or it’s just ‘influencer speak’ where they invent a catchy phrase and everyone copies it.

Could you buy yourself some red loafers for Spring and sandals for Summer and then bring it out all year round.

Agree a bright red bag could work in summer with red sandals and a neutral dress/outfit (eg a black or white dress, Red sandals, the mulberry, some big sunnies)
