Anyone fancy joining me for a Harrods opening thread? No spoilers before 7am but after that anything goes regarding that day’s content!

I do rather wish they’d started with something a bit more exciting than Augustinus Bader Rich Cream but it will get used (or eBayed, for some!) It’s a gorgeous, gorgeous calendar though and I’ve never had it before so my excitement for the rest of the month remains undimmed.

I selfishly started this thread because I need to avoid the waifs and strays as I’m also doing Jadvent and didn’t want to inadvertently spoil myself for that so please don’t leave me here talking to myself!

Lovely smelling shampoo/conditioner duo today. I’m out later so won’t risk using them today in case my hair objects but shall have a long indulgent bath with the goodies tomorrow.

Oh that honey hair stuff sounds lovely! Enjoy it.

narniabusiness · 02/12/2023 08:46

Hi Talisin. Just to let you know you’re not talking to yourself. I love reading the advent calendar threads to see what’s in each one. the photos are great too. They are being very coy on the Liberty thread which is so frustrating 🙃

I hadn't seen there was a Harrods thread, I've been posting on the waifs and strays thread.

My thoughts so far - I love the AB Rich Cream so was very happy with that although I know it gets a bad rep for being in all the high end calendars. It seems to really suit my skin but is too spendy for me to repurchase so I love it when it appears in the calendars.

The hair products are a little bit meh for me but will definitely get used as they are a good size for a weekend away. I've had a hair fragrance sample from this range in a beauty box earlier this year and it smelled lovely but hair fragrance wasn't really something that was missing from my life so it didn't get used much. Shampoo and conditioner is at least more practical.

I love the AB cream. I wear it at night when I sleep and it makes a difference. I love the look and feel of the bottle...it just oozes class. I'm not sure why it is in so many calendars this year, but I'm glad it is.

This calendar weighs an absolute tonne! And is of course beautiful.

bigdecisionstomake · 03/12/2023 09:23

@FinallyFinalGirl I tend to use the AB cream at night too, it makes my skin all lovely and plump when I wake up 🙂

Happy with today's cleanser. I've never tried anything from Eve Lom before and I love a cleansing balm so will look forward to trying this one out when I've finished my current Elemis one.

Let us know what you think about the Gisou hair products when you've tried them @Talisin

FinallyFinalGirl · 03/12/2023 10:44

I'm happy with the cleanser too. I much prefer the balm to the liquid so this is great.

Talisin · 03/12/2023 12:15

Love a balm cleanser and not tried Eve Lom before so I’m happy with this one as well.

This morning's item (Decree Treat Tincture) looks very unassuming but I've just googled and it retails for £130 Shock

I've never tried anything by this brand before but have high hopes now I've seen how expensive it is.

Talisin · 04/12/2023 10:56

I’m going to have to slightly tweak my evening routine to fit this one in. I actually hope it’s not that great as £130!

I tried the Gisou stuff yesterday and it left my (long, fine) hair very very soft and despite some of the reviews, also very clean feeling. However it started looking lank and got greasier much faster than usual so it’s not going to be for me. I’ll use it up at weekends if I’m not going out, probably.

Following, interested to see what’s inside. The Dior one looks fab, but £570! faints I don’t think I’d like half the contents.

Tearsofamermaid · 04/12/2023 11:50

Following, loving mine so far although haven’t tried any of the products yet apart from the AB (which I already use and am delighted to get ‘free’ in the calendar!).

I haven’t bought the Harrods calendar before, got the Space NK one last year and MAC the year before that. I’m hoping for some really lovely things and it’s so nice to have beauty treats to look forward to everyday!

Talisin · 05/12/2023 07:53

Mini Charlotte Tillbury mascara today. Not sure if I’ve tried this particular one before but I’ve certainly liked and used one of hers in the past.

bigdecisionstomake · 05/12/2023 08:02

I've had this before and wasn't impressed enough to re-purchase so it's a bit of an underwhelming drawer for me today. A good size for popping in your handbag on a night out though so I'll probably save it for that.

Talisin · 06/12/2023 05:35

Having looked up today’s - that’s a lot of money for something so unassuming looking!

OP posts:
Talisin · 06/12/2023 07:33

Ah, OK - not quite as expensive as i first thought as I was looking at a pack of six. In fact I think I’m a little miffed now! It’s ReVive Masque des Yeux gel eye masque for those following along.

Masque Des Yeux / Instant De-Puffing Gel Eye Mask

Shop ReVive Masque Des Yeux. A cooling hydrogel eye mask that instantly soothes and hydrates for a refreshed, brightened appearance around the entire eye area.

I am great at doing my regular skincare, morning and night but have a whole collection of masks of various sorts which I never seem to find the time to use at weekends. I am going to try to make some time this Christmas to use this one and some of the others from my stash.

This is an OK day for me but not the most exciting. I guess this is what they need to do when they have a few really expensive products like the Decree Treat Tincture though, to balance things out.

pepperaunt · 06/12/2023 09:01

I’ve found you! Just posted on waifs and strays. I also am happy with the ubiquitous AB cream, as I’ve been using the one from last years’ Liberty AC as a winter night cream and am running out! No fan of balm cleansers however. Think the serum
may be too harsh but will try it. Always happy with a mini travel mascara. Again think the single pair of eye patches to be cheap.
I’ve been doing Liberty but it’s become too samey.

Tearsofamermaid · 06/12/2023 13:23

Not overly impressed either with yesterday’s mascara or the eye patches today. I’m not a fan of that specific mascara anyway but would also hope for a full size product, given the price of the calendar. Fingers crossed tomorrow’s offering will be more exciting!

FinallyFinalGirl · 06/12/2023 14:52

Today and yesterday were both DoDs for me. Knew the pointlessly tiny CT was coming so at least that gets the two worst products out of the way.

Possimpible · 06/12/2023 15:30

I don't have Harrods so living vicariously through the thread, but that is two crappy days in a row! It should pick up from now on hopefully as I remember overall the contents are great, very jealous of some of the things still to come (no spoilers, don't worry!)

Talisin · 07/12/2023 05:38

Ah now today is my DoD. I think I’ve had this for at least the last 3 years of calendars and I will never ever use it.

OP posts:
bigdecisionstomake · 07/12/2023 08:00

@Talisin Not quite a DoD for me but comes close. I love the scent of this but so rarely go in the bath that I still have half a bottle left from a calendar from last year.

I think I tried it in the shower once but it made the shower tray really slippery so I didn't do that again.

I've just asked over on the waifs and strays thread if anyone can recommend any other uses for it as I do really enjoy the scent - it feels really spa like. I'll let you know if there are any good suggestions.
