Harrods beauty Advent Opening 2023

Anyone fancy joining me for a Harrods opening thread? No spoilers before 7am but after that anything goes regarding that day’s content!

I also love the scent, but mostly can’t be bothered cleaning oil rim off of the tub immediately after I get out.

A couple of posters on the waifs and strays thread have said they use the AA oil as a body oil after a shower. I've just tried a little on the back of my hand and actually I think that's probably not a bad shout as it is a very dry oil and pretty much disappears within a minute or two. For full disclosure though my skin is very dry so this might not work for everyone.

Another poster suggested using essential oils on a cotton pad on a radiator to scent the house - I'm going to try this too I think.

Today’s thing is perfect timing, I really needed something like this today. Hope I don’t like it too much though having just spotted the price - ouch!

For those following along, today’s thing was Dr Barbara Sturm’s Hyaluronic serum, the 10ml version which apparently retails for £85. I’m recovering from The Cold From Hell currently so my poor face - and especially my nose - needs all the hydration it can get. Hopefully this will do it lots of good.

Thanks for specifying for the lurkers @Talisin ! I've had that before in a different calendar, it's nice but it's not £85 of nice!

Yes, I agree completely. This is nice enough and I'm glad to have it and will use it - but having had it before I'm not sure I see the difference between this and other more reasonably priced brands. Lots of people do say that it's their HG hyaluronic though so perhaps I'm missing something.

In case anyone hasn't used it before make sure you mist well so your skin is damp before putting it on as otherwise it draws all the water out of your skin and actually makes it drier in the long run.

Harrods is annoying me right now so hope tomorrow picks up. There are definitely reasons why I bought it...just wish I could remember them right now. Three poor days in a row. BUT I know good things are coming - just can't remember them!😂

Plus...I'm finding the numbers very hard to see!🙈

Yes! The numbers are a nightmare - especially bleary-eyed first thing in the morning. I’ve taken to using the torch function on my watch while I squint from a couple of inches away..

@Talisin my eyes are so blurry in the morning plus I'm blind as a bat....half the numbers are covered by the tag thingy from the box below and how SMALL are they?? I need giant sized numbers!😂

Yes! The numbers are all over the place. It takes me ten million years to find them. It's a beautiful, heavy calendar and feels lush but so far it's a B-....good but definitely room for improvement.

Kylie Jenner clear lip gloss today. What do we all think? It's a bit meh for me again - I will use it but it's not the most exciting drawer.

I agree @FinallyFinalGirl I know there are good reasons I bought this calendar but I can't remember what they are right now - hopefully good things to come!

Well I’ll probably use it - unless it’s too gloopy - but not exciting. Still, at least it’s better than the lipstick of hers I got a couple of years back which was such an unpleasant colour it went straight in the bin.

I'm giving this one to my daughter. I can't bear lip gloss as my hair sticks to it when it's blowing around outdoors. She will appreciate it though!

Really disappointed with today’s offering, I can’t stand Kylie Jenner and don’t see her makeup etc as luxurious at all 😏 Oh well, hopefully Harrods will redeem themselves with tomorrow’s gift…
