Anyone fancy joining me for a Harrods opening thread? No spoilers before 7am but after that anything goes regarding that day’s content!

Very happy with the eyeshadow stick, I love the LM brand for makeup and rose gold is the most versatile eyeshadow shade (for me anyway). The calendar has been quite skincare heavy so far and so I’m hoping for some more luxury makeup!

Talisin · 15/12/2023 07:25

I finally have the Elemis Matrix (drone technology!) stuff this morning so I suspect I know what everyone else is getting…

REN today. REN is one of my favourite brands and I do like this product but it's kind of boring. I also don't like eyeshadow sticks as they make the folds of my eyelids stick together.😆 So two non-exciting days.

bigdecisionstomake · 15/12/2023 08:28

Yes, REN AHA Glow Tonic for me too - won't go to waste, I'll either use it or pass on to my niece, but it's a bit of a meh door for me. Not exciting at all.

bigdecisionstomake · 16/12/2023 08:20

Acqua Di Parma bath and shower gel today. I was a bit disappointed when I opened the drawer as I've had a couple of Acqua Di Parma hat box sets in John Lewis calendars in previous years and have found the scent far too heavy. This one however it actually quite nice so overall I'm happy with this drawer.

Talisin · 16/12/2023 08:23

Acqua di Parma Bath/Shower Gel today. I love the scent of this but I still have most of the (small) bottle I got last year - I just virtually never do bubble baths and only use showers when no there’s no bath available if on holiday. Never mind, I shall keep it just to sniff at!

Lovely smell but shower/bath gel is so boring. Sigh...I think I must be getting very hard to please in my old age.

Talisin · 17/12/2023 11:31

Ah, now this is more like it! Sunday Riley CEO Glow face oil. Not tried this before although last year I got the vitamin c cream and liked it very much. I shall be trying this out after a bath.

Very happy with today's, I LOVE this oil and have just recently finished my last bottle. It is one of the few products I can visibly and quickly see making a difference to my face.

pepperaunt · 17/12/2023 14:32

That’s good to hear! Is it okay for sensitive skin?

Tearsofamermaid · 17/12/2023 15:26

Really regretting getting this calendar so far, it is very skincare heavy and I was hoping for a better balance of skincare and makeup. My fault as I hadn’t bought the Harrods advent calendar before, so perhaps this is standard? I should have done more research on the contents. I think next year I will go for the Cult Beauty one.

pepperaunt · 18/12/2023 07:55

Living Proof dry shampoo today. Haven’t tried it before but like some of the other Perfect Hair Day range so fairly happy. On the whole, still not loving this calendar.

bigdecisionstomake · 18/12/2023 08:01

Not a brilliant day for me as I don't use dry shampoo at all although there are lots of compelling arguments for not washing hair every day. My niece uses it though so it will get passed on.

Talisin · 18/12/2023 08:53

Bad day for me as dry shampoo just makes my hair look worse so will be looking for another recipient for this.

I think so. I don't have sensitive skin though so not entirely sure.

Very small dry shampoo. I got the full size in a different calendar. It will go to my daughter as she likes to take one to school in her pocket.

So all in all another shitty day.

Talisin · 19/12/2023 07:40

EviDens The Night Recovery Solution today. I have never heard of this brand before but sounds promising:

It acts overnight on skin to boost its natural cell renewal process, and in the morning, signs of fatigue appear to be erased; the skin seems to be rested, revitalised and deeply regenerated

On the other hand, given the price I don’t want it to be too good😁

@Talisin Ha ha, yes, I was thinking the same thing, I'd better not fall in love with this one as it's far too spendy for regular re-purchasing! Sounds amazing though and I can't wait to give it a go. Skincare is my favourite thing from a calendar, especially brands/products I haven't tried before, so this is a really good day for me.

FinallyFinalGirl · 19/12/2023 10:22

Delighted with today! I was thrilled to see it. I've tried another cream in this brand and it was gorgeous.

Talisin · 20/12/2023 08:29

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge I had a small version of this last year and have used it maybe twice so this is a miss for me, sadly.

OP posts:
bigdecisionstomake · 20/12/2023 08:58

I think the colour description on this one is quite deceptive - it sounds as if it's a pale pink but actually it's quite a dark tawny colour. Also, annoyingly my pot of product has come out of the setting and stuck itself all over the mirror. I think it's largely retrievable but a bit messy to deal with first thing in the morning!

Overall it's an ok day for me - it's a colour I will use and I rate Bobbi Brown as a brand. Just not desperately exciting.

pepperaunt · 20/12/2023 09:25

I like Bobbi Brown so I’m okay with the pot rouge. Agree it’s not my idea of “pale pink” but I’ll certainly use it, at least for travelling

Talisin · 21/12/2023 07:43

Rodial Dragon’s Blood Eye Gel today. I know I’ve had at least one thing from this range before but don’t remember anything about it! Bodes well. Anyway, I’m always up for a good eye product as I do get dehydrated under eye by the end of the day. I’ve put it on this morning - it tingle/stings for a few seconds - and it feels nice and goes under foundation with no problem.

OP posts:
bigdecisionstomake · 22/12/2023 07:27

I've used a few of Rodial's Vitamin C products and generally have liked them. The Dragon's blood range is a new one on me so I'm keen to give it a go, full size too!

Unlike today's Dermalogica PreCleanse - which I'm happy to have but it's so small I guess you'd be lucky to get a week's worth of use out of it so it's therefore really not much more than a sample size. Disappointing for Day 22 of a high end (for me) calendar.

Talisin · 22/12/2023 07:41

Yeah, I found the size of this a bit wtf for this sort of calendar - especially once I’d actually managed to read the tiny print and found it was a cleanser.

OP posts:
FinallyFinalGirl · 22/12/2023 07:53

I rate Rodial products so yesterday was good but sigh....Dermalogica Pre cleanse. I've had this before and as someone who finds cleansing a chore, this was too much of a faff beforehand and I never finished the bottle.

I do plan to up my game regarding cleansing so I guess I might use it if feeling so inclined. Boring product all the same.
