Anyone fancy joining me for a Harrods opening thread? No spoilers before 7am but after that anything goes regarding that day’s content!

Looking ahead to next year I’m thinking either F & M or Diptique

bigdecisionstomake · 10/12/2023 09:47

Elemis Overnight Matrix for me too - this was one of the items I really wanted to try so contributed to my choice of calendar this year. I'm very happy with it and feel Harrods have redeemed themselves a bit today.

I can't remember if the REN was included so not sure if your drawers are just mixed up @Talisin or if they've had to substitute. If it's the latter than I don't think that's an equivalent product so I would be complaining. Could you ask someone to check the contents to see if it's just that the drawers have been mixed up?

Talisin · 10/12/2023 09:57

@bigdecisionstomake no one around to check for me, unfortunately. I’ll just assume the items got mixed up - the drawers are all the same size after all! - and I’ll get the Elemis later.

I’ve now looked up the Elemis and the blurb says: ‘This advanced night cream targets the areas of the face where stress shows the most with Drone Peptide Technology: utilising the principles of drone navigation technology’

Whaaat?!

Yes, Elemis was the one...can't wait to try it. Have always loved Elemis but haven't tried this one. Harrods has finally pulled it out of the bag.

bigdecisionstomake · 10/12/2023 11:53

@Talisin now I have a picture in my head of a small drone being piloted in through my bedroom window at night and dropping targeted doses of peptides on my face where needed while I sleep...😂

bigdecisionstomake · 11/12/2023 08:05

Oh dear, the Christophe Robin detoxifying shampoo is another DoD for me I'm afraid. I love the smell of it but that's about the only positive thing I have.

In order of preference from calendars and edits/gwps I prefer to get, skincare, make up, bodycare, perfume and then haircare last. Perhaps I don't pay my hair enough attention!

pepperaunt · 11/12/2023 08:55

Ditto with Cristoph Robin and hair products being the absolute bottom of my desired drawer contents!

Talisin · 11/12/2023 09:27

Hmm, I got a CR scalp scrub - I’d rather the shampoo! All a bit meh anyway.

OP posts:
FinallyFinalGirl · 11/12/2023 09:52

I got the scrub. I've had this before and rate it - it makes my hair swish from the scalp just like my stylist manages - but surprised the tub is so small. For some reason I thought this would be a full size item.

Talisin · 12/12/2023 05:16

Finally! Day 12 brings one of my HG products and the main reason I bought this calendar😁

OP posts:
FinallyFinalGirl · 12/12/2023 07:17

Absolutely delighted today. This along with the Elemis are what I really wanted from the calendar. Love the serum and it goes on like a dream. I always see a difference the next day.

Keep it up Harrods please please!

Talisin · 12/12/2023 07:22

For those following along, it’s Bioeffect EGF Serum we’re raving about.

bigdecisionstomake · 12/12/2023 08:08

This is one of the reasons I wanted this calendar too - I've never tried it before though - is it as good as everyone says? Do you use it twice a day? I tend to use different serums morning and evening but the little card says to use it twice a day. Any tips gladly received as I want to get the most out of it 😀

Possimpible · 12/12/2023 08:54

Thanks @Talisin , I got this in a calendar last year and it is fab! Almost made me buy the Harrods calendar for this alone. Very jealous

reallyfedup123 · 12/12/2023 12:26

I’m watching this with interest! I haven’t got one but was debating whether to get one, will maybe get next year!

how much did everyone pay for theirs?

Full price. I was afraid to wait in case it sold out. I'm having a bit of a weird relationship with my calendar...it is very beautiful, very heavy and feels so luxurious that you can't help but believe untold treasures await within...then you pull out things like Kylie Jenner lip gloss!

But the Elemis and todays serum have elevated it. Was it worth the money? It could go either way depending on the next few days.

I only use it in the evening, I have combination/oily skin and it has a viscous sort of consistency - not quite oily or greasy but it stays slightly tacky on my skin and make up would not sit well on it for me. Given it’s a small bottle and very expensive I would be reluctant to use it twice a day anyway! I tend to use it every other day, alternating with a cheaper one, currently The Inkey List Vitamin C and EGF Serum. I put it on straight after cleansing when my skin is still slightly damp and follow it with tret, 30 or more minutes later (it works very well with retinols and vitamin c).

@reallyfedup123 I paid full price as well!

@Talisin That's super helpful thank you - I wondered how it would play with Retinol. I'm really looking forward to trying it, hopefully it will give me lovely plump and glowy skin for Christmas!

@reallyfedup123 I paid full price too - or rather DP did - it was my birthday present at the end of October 🙂

AdoraBell · 12/12/2023 19:58

Place marking just to drool, can’t afford an advent calendar <sad face>

Hope you all enjoy your lovely goodies.

Talisin · 13/12/2023 07:43

111 Skin Celestial Black Diamond Brightening Essence today. I’ve only ever had face masks from this brand before so I had to look this up. Reviews look good and it’s supposed to he hydrating so I slapped it on before my usual serum this morning, so far so good!

I did have some problems getting the product out initially - there’s a little plastic cap/cork thing which isn’t at all obvious and requires fingernails or some sort of implement to pop off.

OP posts:
FinallyFinalGirl · 13/12/2023 08:06

Another good day. I've liked all the 111 Skin products I've tried but have never used this one. I'm starting to really enjoy the calendar now thank goodness. Was worried for a bit.

bigdecisionstomake · 13/12/2023 08:07

This is a new product for me too - I spritz/mist at least twice in my morning and evening routines (my skin needs all the moisture it can get) but I've never used an essence before. I'm assuming it will take the place of one of the mist steps. Happy to have this to try.

Thanks for the tip about taking the little plastic cap out @Talisin.

Talisin · 14/12/2023 07:54

Laura Mercier eyeshadow stick today. I’ve had this before and it’s nice, if not exactly exciting.

OP posts:
bigdecisionstomake · 14/12/2023 08:03

Yes, agreed. I will definitely use this as I find these ones and the Bobbi Brown ones are great for a quick/minimal eye look. They are easy to use and either blend out or layer up. So a good product but can't get over excited about it.

pepperaunt · 14/12/2023 10:26

Happy with the eyeshadow stick. When I saw the long, thin box I was worried it was yet another black eyeliner
