@CorneliaStreet have you thought about cannibalising your palettes? If you separate the metal pan from the base, they can go another magnetic holder. There are some empty pans you can get, I'm sure someone will know a name... That way you can have what you want, discard the rest.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 13/01/2024 19:14

@Fraaahnces is the trans acid one the thing that helps with redness/veins?

Fraaahnces · 14/01/2024 04:26

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants - that’s the one! It’s amazing. I would even use the Lion Pair cream I mentioned above AND the Hada Labo. They’re both so gentle but the cream is great for acute inflammation.

Experiment627 · 14/01/2024 06:59

@sallyanne33 do you like the Lush tofu shampoo? I just read up on it and it sounds fab!

I actually dreamt about this thread last night 🙈🙈🙈

@Experiment627 It’s ok, I was expecting quite a creamy, gentle shampoo but it’s quite strong smelling of citrus and lathers a lot. I’ve only used it once so the jury’s out but I think it might be a bit drying on my scalp.

Fraaahnces · 13/01/2024 15:07

@CinnamonCoffee & @OchonAgusOchonOh - That is the very best Hada Labo HA “serum” (effectively what it is…). I absotely rate this product as a bajillion times better than the expensive B. STURM. one. (Same initials as BS for a reason???) The navy blue one with tranexamic acid is what I use every day too. When it’s this cheap and comes in such big bottles I am not afraid to use on my body too.

@Fraaahnces* *just wondering do you know what the difference is between the lotion and the emulsion?

@CinnamonCoffee used the lotion but I'm wondering should I try out both.

Buster27 · 14/01/2024 15:17

First empties of the year.

Filorga hydra-hyal serum - I liked this and by the end of the bottle thought my skin did look plumper. Would buy, have a mountain of other serums to get through first though!

Philip Kingsley shampoo - OK, nothing special. Maybe not enough to give a proper test.

Philip Kingsley conditioner - as above.

Arran lavender pillow spray - I like this and would consider buying (have a different one to use that will last me a while though).

I got a bit spend happy towards the end of last year and my stash is a bit out of control again (not helped by 2 Beauty ACs..). Back to not buying unless needed. Hoping to make a dent in makeup, perfume and handcream this year as those are my biggest stashes and I don't seem to go through much.

Fraaahnces · 14/01/2024 20:28

Hi @OchonAgusOchonOh - the lotion is thinner in texture than the emulsion. It’s more of a “serum” texture and the emulsion is more hydrating and can be used as a light moisturiser or a serum depending on your needs.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 14/01/2024 21:04

Thank @Fraaahnces . I might get both when I run out of HA and see which I prefer.

Also, I have started using the vit c serum you recommended. It's brilliant. Thank you so much.

Fraaahnces · 14/01/2024 22:40

@OchonAgusOchonOh So pleased you love the vitamin C serum. I can say that lately my skin texture seems more “refined” (for want of a better description.) It’s more hydrated, even-toned and the pores appear finer.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 14/01/2024 22:57

@Fraaahnces yes, it's softer and more dewey. I'm not sure if the pores have shrunk though.

Peridot1 · 15/01/2024 09:40

I may have to break my no-buy as I’m almost out of the Hada Labu blue lotion that you recommended @Fraaahnces. I really like it. I also love the premium one. So hydrating.

Stylevana are having a sale too……. temptations temptations!

What is the Vit C product @OchonAgusOchonOh? I am also almost out of Vit C although wasn’t going to buy any until I’ve used up at least one other serum!

Any other recommendations @Fraaahnces?

Fraaahnces · 15/01/2024 09:57

@Peridot1 Stylevana ALWAYS have sales… it’s addictive! Can you tell me about your skin (skin type/age/sensitivity…) and what you need, re cleanser, sunscreen, eye cream, etc? Also what textures you enjoy.

Peridot1 · 15/01/2024 10:13

@Fraaahnces - skin type - dry and tendency to redness and rosacea spots. I use Soolantra and Rozex both on prescription for a rosacea breakout. Which tends to happen after too much Sauvignon Blanc sadly! Age 59. Liked the previous Korean sunscreens you mentioned and still have one unopened yet - the Joseon one. Currently using the Centella one. Am heading to Australia next month and will definitely need more sunscreen!

Lollypop701 · 15/01/2024 10:42

I like the ordinary hyaluronic but am nearly out… any recommendations please

Peridot1 · 15/01/2024 10:57

Thanks @OchonAgusOchonOh - will have a look on Stylevana.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 15/01/2024 11:07

@Peridot1 I had a quick look on Stylevena and they may have it but call it a slightly different name. The problem is, the packaging all looks so similar it's hard to tell.

Peridot1 · 15/01/2024 11:25

@OchonAgusOchonOh - yes I had a quick look and couldn’t see it. I agree it’s hard with the packaging.

sallyanne33 · 15/01/2024 13:02

Is Soolantra any good @Peridot1 ?

Peridot1 · 15/01/2024 13:12

@sallyanne33 - it worked for me. I had lots of what I thought were just spots around my nose and on my cheeks. Realised it may be pustular rosacea and I got Soolantra from The Independent Pharmacy. It cleared it up really well. It flared back up and I got the Soolantra again and although it helped one spot just wouldn’t go so I sent another photo to The Independent Pharmacy and the suggested using Rosex as well. Soolantra in the morning and Rosex at night. Cleared it up. I tend to use the Soolantra every five days or so just to keep the rosacea at bay a bit.

Fraaahnces · 15/01/2024 16:05

@sallyanne33 Soolantra is very good for killing the demodex mites associated with rosacea. It’s brilliant. Once that’s done you need to treat the leftover broken capillaries, etc.
@Peridot1 I would recommend this sunscreen as it supposedly has up to 8hrs of protection. (Wouldn’t rely on a single application for a day at the beach, though!). Sunscreen
And this cream for breakouts and redness etc. (amazing stuff I wrote about the other day.)
Lion Pair Cream
The Hada Labo Premium Shirojyun Emulsion is probably my fave.

I've finished an Emma Hardey cleansing balm that came in a advent calendar last year, it smells great and works well on my mascara. Got an apothecary one to try next.

listsandbudgets · 16/01/2024 11:17

first empties of 2024 except for a few shampoos and shower gels from centre park which i'm not really counting in my total as they are a separate project and I've no idea how ove acquired so many since I've only been there twice.. I keep finding 50ml bottles in old wash bags and at the back of cupboards.

Anywau proper empties: Hand cream cream M and S fragrance society poppy peony and pearl barley. this smelt fantastic and sunk in quite well. i'd RP if not on a buying ban and being in possession of piles if hand cream anyway

Florentyna perfume. Have loved this for decades. Got plenty of perfume at the moment including about half of a big bottle of this but will definitely be an RP in the future
