Seoulista instant facial - too strong for my skin, possibly because I’m using retinol.
Ole Henriksen eye cream- stings and didn’t like the smell.
Gosh Donoderm gel- didn’t feel Very hydrating.
Glamglow youthmud - amazing, but no longer available in UK.
Patchology eye gels - in my opinion best in the market. I can really see a difference after using these. I have quite a few of these stashed away.
Rituals body scrub- nice but has a menthol feel to it, so not for me.
Valentino perfume sample - lovely but nothing special.

Gosh @Thereislightattheendofthetunnel I wish my son would rush to brush his teeth... I am lucky if he does once a day!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 22/02/2024 16:29

Strawberry toothpaste is the way to go @Experiment627 at least for us.

For me is fennel now, thanks to you. Although not rushing to brush them

Fraaahnces · 23/02/2024 00:39

I have an empty to report… my tub of mixed Laneige Lip Sleeping Masks. I have already replaced it with the new blue & pink swirly Cotton Candy one. (Not a “me” flavour nornally, but it’s subtle and I fell for the colours too.)

Experiment627 · 23/02/2024 10:49

My son loves the Fennel toothpaste... but maybe I will ask him about switching to strawberry. He refuses to see a dentist too 🙈

I have an empty to report:

  • Timotei pure purifying shampoo green tea extract: LOVE LOVE LOVE this! Worked just as well as the Redken volume injection and is WAY cheaper!!! AND smells DIVINE!!!! Have tried the hair mask and conditioner too but they are long way from being empty.

Loving looking at all the products and reviews you all use 🤗
Certainly makes my self imposed buying ban difficult!!

I have three empties though! Woohoo!

Dove Oat Milk and Acacia Honey Body Lotion - I love dove products and this was one I have had for ages but hadn't used. Shame I didn't use it earlier as it didn't disappoint. Really subtle fragrance.

Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter - hands down one of my favourite cleansers, gentle whilst melting away make up. I can't see the difference to this and more high end ones!

Boots Botanics Rosehip and Lavender Facial Oil - second time I have bought this now, it is really nice and isn't expensive. Smells lovely and perfect smells to pop on your face to go to sleep. I have other face oils in the drawer so going to get through all of them before buying more!

A few empties:

Beauty of Joseon ginseng and snail mucin revive serum - 10ml. Really liked this, my skin was really clear and felt good while I was using it. Might even be a rival to the Cosrx snail essence, which I love.

Q&A hyaluronic acid daily moisturiser - 75ml. Also really good, perfect weight cream for my skin and good value. I’ve liked the things I’ve tried from Q&A so far, seems to be a good brand.

Philip Kingsley moisture balancing shampoo and conditioner - 20ml each. From this year’s M&S advent. These were good, left my hair feeling silky without weighing it down. Definitely my favourite of the various Philip Kingsley things I’ve tried.

Noble Isle shower gel in Willow Song - 75ml. This smelled good, but I probably should have used it in summer as it’s very fresh and light.

Kalmar calm shower cream - 200ml. Smelled amazing and felt nice on the skin.

Fraaahnces · 24/02/2024 19:22

@CorneliaStreet - I really rate Beauty of Joseon products. My issue with the serum is that it’s in such a tiny bottle. I would buy a ginseng essence (BOJ make one in a big bottle) and use that followed by snail mucin. (I have swapped from Cosrx to Jumiso Snail Mucin and Peptide serum for the added firming. Also cheaper.)

Fraaahnces · 24/02/2024 19:25

Boring empties like generic shower gel, toothpaste, deodorant (god I go through a lot of that!)…. Hair treatment by Thalasso 88. Smelled lovely - Osmanthus - wasn’t special. Also Numbuzin 5+ Vitamin Concentrated Serum. Okay, but I get more from the Rohto Melano (Hada Labo) Vitamin C, and it lasts forever. Will order some soonish. In the meantime, will see how I go without antioxidants. Probably won’t die.

CorneliaStreet · 24/02/2024 22:01

@Fraaahnces That’s a really good idea, especially as I may have both the Beauty of Joseon ginseng essence and the Cosrx snail essence in the cupboard waiting to be used 😂

I have a Cosrx snail mucin winging its way towards me. I added it to my Rohto Melano vit c order

Some empty's...

:Garnier Micellar water
:laneige lip mask-meh!
:Dermatica tret-HG
:Bioeffect-HG. Love this stuff
:Bleach London hair mask-HG. Cheap and really good
:shay & Blue perfume blood orange- scent didn't last
:Cosrx snail mucin-HG
:Glow recipe plum plump-was ok but nothing special
:Escentric Molecules no 4-liked this and was a really clean/fresh scent
:Omorovicza moisturiser-glad this is gone as didn't rate. It was wrong for my skin type though as meant for oily skin and mine is more dry.

Bader rich cream - not popular one on MN but it is very skin soothing and a little goes a long way. It's best for an evening at home for me as the texture is a bit greasy on my skin.

Susan Kauffman shower/shampoo - I used this in the shower as I'm picky about shampoo. It was nice enough but nothing to distinguish it from the many other nice products in my stash.

a few empties

Ritual of Jing conditioner . i would RP as smells nice and suits my hair well

REN Kelp and magnesium body lotion. I love smell of this and it felt quite invigorating unfortunately I think it caused some itching so won't be RP

L'occtaine almond shower oil an absolute staple and I've got another 500ml bottle so won't need to rp any time soon

l'occtaine piovine hand cream. beautiful smell but didn't really sunk in very well but may rp just because it smells nice.

however no RPs for now as still on self enforced buying ban.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 26/02/2024 21:33

@listsandbudgets i think your cream was itchy as it contains magnesium. I have an spray to use after exercise (you can imagine why it’s almost full) and it left a tingly/itchy feeling on my legs.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 27/02/2024 13:59

Some empties:

Paddington bath confetti. Adds excitement to bath times but I don’t find it particularly interesting. Won’t be Rp as it’s money down the drain.

Nuage hayfever wipes: I fail to see how to use them so used up to clean hands. Won’t RP.

Sample: the ritual of namaste glow anti-aging serum. Loved the smell, almost almondy. Silky milky white texture that absorbs beautifully. I would buy one when I use up what I already have.

On the other hand, rituals of namaste glow anti-aging day cream smelt rank as it was fermented. I find natural products when they go off have a very similar distinctive smell. Won’t buy this.

Avon care rose water cleanser toner. Smelt nice as an old school rose. Did the job. Have others to use.

Perfume samples: Gucci flora gorgeous gardenia: I fail to recognise gardenias in here. Is a basic generic floral that I disliked.

Victorio and Luccino aguas esenciales Pura Vida: an offering from the Spanish Powerhouse. It’s a garden bursting with lemons. Amazing refreshing quality but longevity is poor as it is an eau de cologne. I already own the full bottle 150ml less than 15€.

TBS japanese cherry blossom strawberry kiss body cream. Slightly lighter than a body butter and absorbs well and leaves a lovely scent on skin. From the same range as the fragrance. Sadly discontinued.

Experiment627 · 28/02/2024 11:58

@LilyJessie I like that Body Shop cleansing balm too... I heard TBS have gone into administration... wonder what that will mean for supply? I defo have a Love-Hate relationship with TBS of today - given its MLM ways but I do really like some of their products.

I have some empties to report:

  • Lacura aftersun lotion bought in Spain: bought this in Spain thinking it could be a dupe for Ecran after sun which is HG for me - alas more of a dupe for the Garnier aloe body lotion. Also not strictly an empty - loads left but I am passing on to a friend as I have a Dove cream I want to get going on.
  • Neat foaming hand wash concentrated refill: Green Tea & Bergamot - really like the concept of concentrated products - and this one smells nice too.
  • Kingfish fennel toothpaste with fluoride: firm fave here
  • elf Lash n Roll mascara: really liked this - apparently is a dupe for Benefit roller lash.
  • Fruity bath fizzers: got these at B&M as a stocking filler for my son. Really not great in smell or fizz.

Johnsons baby lotion - I found this lurking at the back of the cupboard, love the smell so was happy to use up. Have another to use.

Dermatica adaplene/niacinamide/clindamycin - my skin has been great on this but they're now swapping clindamycin for benzoyl peroxide.. hopefully my skin likes it.

Geek & Gorgeous retinal serum - I preferred medik8 (in terms of consistency and colour, G&G VERY yellow, although obviously doesn't matter when applying at night) but this was so much cheaper and I found it as effective. Not RPing as moved on to dermatica.

Skingredients skin shield SPF 50 - quite liked this but prefer my usual, which is also cheaper. I liked that it was tinted but think it made me a bit stingy with application, which wasn't good. Will go back to my usual.

Votary natural glow day cream - nice but not enough to decide if I'd want to buy it.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 28/02/2024 14:20

Hada Labo Vit C serum. Loved it. Another is on the way. In the meantime I'm using a lacura vit c and turmeric oil. It's really oily and, given it's in a clear glass bottle, presumably won't be effective for long. It also smells vaguely of curry.

EA 8 hour cream. I like this. It lasts ages as I just use it as an occasional overnight mask. I have another.

EA 8 hour cream handcream. This was great. Not greasy, absorbed well and moisturising. However, I have enough handcreams to do me out so won't be RPing.

Lancome genifique serum. I quite liked it but definitely not worth the price they charge.

My kids have just benefited from me deciding that the reason I have skincare sitting around in a stash is because either it’s less enjoyable to use or I don’t see the results I want. DS (17) has his first girlfriend so is suddenly as interested in skincare as the girls are. (About time!) Of course this meant that I had to go ham and order new stuff as I will soon run out of what I AM using. Stylevana strikes again (how many times have I said never again???) My skin loves ginseng so I ordered from Missha’s Chogongjin line. It’s actually four separate ginseng lines so you need to look at the benefits and textures before you choose. I went for the Youngan Cream which is more of an ointment for Winter Night Cream, (Red pot) The Geumseul Cream (Blush-coloured pot) for regular Night Cream and the Geumseul Emulsion for Day Cream. Will report when it eventually turns up. Also the AHC Collagen Eye Ampoule which was on sale. Just to add soothing moisture to the retinol eye creams I already use.

Love the sound of the Spanish Eau de cologne that @Thereislightattheendofthetunnel described. Going to see if there are stockists on this side of the universe. If they make an orange one I shall get that too.

So pleased you love the Hada Labo @OchonAgusOchonOh . It’s the best vitamin c I have ever used. Every now and then I am swayed by another, yet keep returning to this one. (I use a toothpaste tube winder thingy to keep it upright and make sure I get every single bit out!) Guess what I forgot to order??? Damn!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Every time you post @Fraaahnces I seem to add something else to my want to try list!

Some more empties:

Cosrx Propolis Synergy toner - 150ml. One of those magic toners that is so watery it doesn’t seem like it can possibly do anything, but then suddenly your skin feels all healthy and hydrated. Loved it, would definitely repurchase.

Filorga Hydra-Hyal plumping serum - 7ml. Only a tiny little tube but it still lasted a week or so using it twice a day. I liked it, felt lovely and hydrating.

Laniege lip sleeping mask in Vanilla - 20g. I think this might be my favourite flavour so far, though I’m now using a Pink Lemonade one which is also lovely.

Larry King City Life shampoo - 100ml. This is a clarifying shampoo so I used it once a week. It seemed to suit my hair and smelled lovely (of rosemary).

Clinique High Impact mascara in black - my favourite mascara. One day I’d like to buy it in brown/black, if I ever get through the four or five random black mascaras from beauty boxes/advents that I have stashed.

Aveeno moisturise hand cream - 75ml. Cut this open when no more would come out and there was about a third of it still in there. It was good, moisturising but sunk in well.

Simple eye make up remover - 125ml. This was rubbish as an eye make up remover so I used it up as a brush cleaner. It wasn’t very good at that either.

MyRabbit79 · 02/03/2024 13:30

A few more things used up!

A Benefit gift set which contained a benetint, which I love, and a blusher which was also great.

Argan oil for hair. I've bought this a few times and I think it makes it quicker to dry my hair but other than that, I couldn't see any effect from this last bottle so won't rp

Sali Hughes vitamin c. Smells really horrible. However I have seen an improvement in pigmentation since I regularly used vitamin c in the morning (previously medik8 which was much nicer). Won't rp this particular one.

Fraaahnces · 02/03/2024 13:34

@CorneliaStreet Ive never tried the Cosrx propolis line but I have heard a lot of very good things about it. The toner is supposed to impart a miraculous glow. Glad you enjoyed it!
I agree re Simple eye makeup remover. Plain water is probably actually better than this and more effective! Utter waste of money for me.

LilyJessie · 03/03/2024 10:48

@EExperiment627 - Oh I totally agree re TBS!
I wonder if they'll revert to an online only shop like other places have done.
Hope so for the cleanser alone ha!

wheresmyshoe · 03/03/2024 12:22

Two more 17/100

Prija shower gel - hotel mini, it was fine.

Davines hair milk - this is the sun protective version. I prefer the original and would buy that rather than this.
