I can't do this alone folks. I've got TOO MUCH STUFF... I also have 2 beauty advent calendars

So I've set myself a challenge. Between now and June the 1st 2024 I will not buy any beauty products UNLESS I've run out of all of that particular type. If I've got a tiny sample bottle of shampoo or conditioner I'll use it all up. All those half used bottles of moisturiser, night cream, shower gel and toner and body lotion MUST GO... the mountain of soap must be surmounted.

My only concession is that I will not cancel the Liberty Beauty drop will get a couple of boxes to cheer me up

So if you want to join me make up your own rules and lets cull that stash

Other than the Liberty advent calendar (which I had enough BD credit for) I haven’t bought anything for a while. Resisted a recent Caroline Hirons kit too which I was very proud of!

I need to sort through my stash again. The drawer of full sizes is actually going down. There is space in the drawer! I will need a second cleanser soon. I double cleanse and have quite a few first cleansers but I like a cream one for my second cleanse. I have lots of hydrating essences/sprays. And serums. And a few eye creams. And a couple of moisturisers.

The small size/travel sizes stash is not too bad but fairly full. But I’m going away twice in next couple of months so will put a dent in things then.

The drawer of face masks and treatments is fairly full. As is the body lotion and hand cream stash.

I am also going to try to not spend cash on anything I need next year. So anything I do need will be from my stash or using Boots advantage points. Or if I happen to put something in the Sainsbury’s trolley that counts as household! 😂

Sorry to hear about the flood @Fraaahnces. Hope there wasn’t too much damage!

So I've bought a few more bits - shampoo, conditioner and also the Lbty eye patch that was in the latest Beauty Drop box because finally I've found an eye cream that works for me. I'm not sure when they'll release it for sale so I got another from vinted while I could. I fully expect to need to open the new shampoo and conditioner by the end of this week maybe sooner and then finally for the first time in years I'll just have one of each.

I'm stock piling a few empties and I expect to have at least a dozen by the end of the week.

I will answer all your posts later - sounds like a mixed bunch Smile

@Peridot1 Isn't it lovely when you finally see a bit of space on your shelves. I don't really see it as I keep a lot of my things stashed in wash bags but even they seem to be getting a bit less jam packed. Well done on resisting the kits. I don't know what it is about kits but they seem especially difficult to knock back - perhaps because they're always nicely packed and seem like a bargain.

@Stoic123 Welcome back. I have promised myself only to get the M&S AC this year but keep seeing others and it's very very tempting but maybe next year. Definately sensible to stock up on things you know you will use if you can get them at bargain prices

@Minnie123456 What is tic tock shop? Perhaps it's best I don't find out Grin I like vit C products how are your getting on with your new haul?

@mcmooberry Yup some things seem to go on for ever and ever and ever. I had a face wash like this honestly thought I'd finished it and nearly 3 weeks later it was still pumping out. I've also got a few bits left from last years ACs - another reason to only have one this year.

@CalicoPusscat I've not even dared look at the Vogue one this year I don't need any more temptation

I've just finished a small bottle of Nuxe face oil so can finally move onto the beautiful bottle of Luna night oil I treated myself to. I thoguth it was the very last bottle of oil but then remembered there was a small one in the recent Liberty GWP but even only having 2 seems pretty incredible.

It was my birthday yesterday - someone gave me a pack of 3 hand creams. I've only ever bought myself one tube of hand cream in my life yet I always seem to have a surplus of it from ACs, GWPs, beauty boxes and gifts

Happy Birthday for yesterday @listsandbudgets

Fully stocked and back on the no spend wagon now. Advents were tempting - now need to be ready to withstand Black Friday!

Minnie123456 · 28/09/2024 19:28

Happy belated birthday @listsandbudgets
Tik Tok has an online shop with everything from skin care to house stuff, people post videos of them using the stuff to advertise it.
I haven't used my vit c stuff yet 🙈

I managed to resist buying a Zara perfume. A few people I know have it and it smells amazing.

Which one @Minnie123456 is the perfume from Zara?

Minnie123456 · 29/09/2024 19:10

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel this one. I still really want it lol.

@Minnie123456 ohhh I like it. It is a less heavy version of their red temptation. Red temptation is Zara’s less expensive take on Baccarat Rouge by Francis Kurkjdan.
Sometimes when Black Friday is around they would have some discounts so if you are not in a rush to get it I would monitor their website so that the moment there are offers you can buy it. Not that I want to enable you though 😅

You lot are probably going to be the only people in the world that care about this...

As you know I have 2 stashes one at my mums one here... As of last night I only have one shampoo and one conditioner in each I actually can't remember the last time this happened.

I also think I'll run out of face wash COMPLETELY within the next week. I'm just going to buy some Number Seven or nivea facewash to see me through until there's next a really good GWP

I'm about to finish my current moisturiser then will only have 2 30ml tubes and 10 ml tube which to be fair will last me quite a long time but will be the lowest level I've been at in a very long time.

Still swimming in shower gel, perfume, deodorant, soap and hand cream though and also got plenty of oil and serum and eye cream. Also very close to finishing my handwash and decided to move to soap instead rather than buy more

Well done @listsandbudgets !

mcmooberry · 04/10/2024 08:46

That's great!
I have old a couple of skincare bundles on Vinted in the last month (suspect priced them too cheaply as they sold in minutes!) so that has depleted the stash a bit and removed the risk it would actually see me out.

listsandbudgets · 09/10/2024 13:59

Oh FFS... I'm useless

Needed new facewash so ordered one from Boots and while I was on the site stupidly decided to buy their Macmillan advent calendar as well just because I felt like it. It was also half price - it's gone back up to £90 today

was always planning to get the M&S one - ah well might yet end up with 2 of the things -

Damn I'm no good at this

I’ve been quite good but have had lots of gifts of eg Le Petit Marsellais shower gel and shampoo/conditioner and a Neals Yard honey bath and shower cream/gel.

About 3 weeks ago I got a Sukin face scrub from Holland and Barrett as I needed some magnesium gel from there. The face scrub is nice.

It can take forever to use shower gel and soap and so on.

I’ve started on my minis collection. Used a Croatian make mini bath salts and bath lotion in 2 baths. The same make also had a mini shower gel and shampoo which I used when I went swimming and for tomorrow swimming I’ve got an old salon L’Oréal shampoo and the Sanctuary body wash. Quite satisfying using all of those up. I do have more sachets of shampoo but they’re handy if I go away.

Fraaahnces · 10/10/2024 12:13

A lovely colleague at work knows I love KBeauty. Her MIL gave her the gift pack of Laneige mini lip masks and another with a full-size sleeping eye mask and a mini sleeping mask and a new bouncy lip mask in a cute padded bag. She won’t use it because she’s vegan. She wouldn’t let me refuse because we got each other through a tough spot at work and we have a similar history, although she’s the same age as my eldest DD. What a lovely present!

Peridot1 · 10/10/2024 13:32

That’s a lovely gift @Fraaahnces. enjoy!

@listsandbudgets - you are doing really well. Well except for the MacMillan calendar obviously. But then it is a charity purchase after all!

I bought some cleansers in the Amazon Prime day deals. Two Kate Somerville and a Curel foaming face wash. All for DH to give me for Christmas. I get through cleansers quite quickly and although I have a couple in my stash I think I’ll be using them by the time Christmas comes around so I’ll be pleased to top the stash up a bit.

I do need to make a concentrated effort to use up some minis of things. I’m going away a couple of times in the next month so will hopefully make a bit of a dent.

moimichme · 12/10/2024 08:23

Checking in. I reckon I've been quite restrained so far this year overall, although I've asked DH to buy me the John Lewis beauty advent calendar for Christmas.😅

My total in the spreadsheet is down to 125 items (which includes Everything, even hand wash for the sink, etc.) and there are a couple of categories that have no backup item left. Proud of myself!

Some makeup was given to my sister and niece this summer (too dark for real life but good for dance performances). I've bought sensible replacements rather than GWP blowouts, even if it's not as much fun! Saved quite a bit of ££ too.

However, work has been very busy which is bringing down my daily usage. I need to do better going forward - I feel better doing some skincare every morning and evening, it's a relaxing routine.

And, confession time, last week I purchased one small eyeshadow palette to be a Christmas gift from ds. It was on a huge discount and replaces one which is 3.5 years old that I've used over 500 times. The old one is still usable with a mini pan in only one shade, but I have a tendency to keep things far past the 'expiry' (e.g. 8+ years) and don't want to get an eye infection etc. by keeping it too long. (Powder blush is different I think.)

PLEASE STOP ME BUYING THE PAT MCGRATH HOLIDAY COLLECTION

moimichme · 12/10/2024 08:39

Don't do it, Little - it sounds like you don't need it, even if on another level, you'd like it. Make a list of pros and cons of buying those specific products? Are they all things you'd use and the colours you'd choose if not in the kit?
