Can I see everyone's non traditional wedding dresses please.

Or any dress you'd love to get married in, or wear to a special event.

I am getting married and don't know what I want, but know I don't want white or traditional.

Thank you!

Mine was similar to this ( but not as expensive)

This is beautiful!

I wore this petal maxi dress from Alice Temperley. My sister found it for me - I would never had chosen it myself but the moment I put it on it was obvious it was THE dress for me :)

I love this too!

warblingwater · 31/07/2023 23:50

@RandyDandy the Instagram page I saw it on was whitelaceandbutterflies
They have some amazing dresses and are Uk based Smile

Red dress with red cape. Such a beautiful dress and I wish I could wear it again but I don’t think I ever can!

I wore a silk skirt and my Mum knitted me a jumper (was chilly early spring day so perfect for the weather).

This is lovely. The skirt part of mine was very similar to this. Love the jumper with it.

@June628 I love your dress! It's so pretty 😍

Stunning!

Hastily cropped mine and dh’s heads off but this was mine. Steel blue Eliza Jayne Howell ‘Rebecca’ dress. The only thing I wanted was a blue dress (my Nana also married in a blue lace dress and I wanted to be like her) and the fact I sparkled like a Christmas decorations was perfect for me

I wore a short sparkly sequined dress. Not wedding-dress at all.

Perfection.

I immediately thought the same and both equally stunning.

Oops that was a reply to the comment about LauraDLoves outfit was similar to Olivia Palermo’s.
I love Keira Knightley’s wedding dress.

My first thought on seeing that picture was Droopy & Browns too! I lusted after their Grand Holbein wedding dress but couldn't afford it so had a dress made for me by a designer who had worked there. It was white but nowadays I'd plump for the Ophelia ballgown which had the huge balloon sleeves that ended in tight cuffs and a bit of a train at the back.

Ohhh I went to Droopy and Browns too, and found a dress I loved, but thought it was too expensive!

So I went to a local wedding dress shop where the designer Anna Christina was visiting, and bought an even more expensive dress!!

I loved it and still do. It was light pink silk dupion with embroidery and pearls.

ValBiro · 01/08/2023 01:16

@somethingblues that dress is gorgeous and love it paired with those black shoes too.

I made my dress so posting here is potentially very outing as it's truly one of a kind but here goes... The embroidery took approximately 100 hours.

I ended up wearing a big meringue of a traditional dress, but my original choice was a pale grey beaded 1920s style dress.
Then I realised if I dressed my 10 year old bridesmaids in something similar, they would look like extras from Bugsy Malone.

Filamumof9 · 01/08/2023 02:03

I had a dress that was really pinkish/purple, depending on the light that shone on it. I chose the colour from a test swab of 2 by 4 cm, tried the dress in red for fitting.

Still love this dress.

And our bridal car was an elongated classic Mini Cooper 😁. We got married in the snow,as predicted by a lovely French lady we visited a few months earlier, which was quite surprising as in all the years I have known my husband it never snowed in that period.

That is utterly stunning. You’re so clever!

I adore the jumper and skirt combo above too.

This thread is fab!

Just saying hi to all

telestrations · 01/08/2023 04:38

This was mine for our very small covid wedding by a lake. I had bought a more conventional one but wasn't happy with it. Then I got this in the post from my Mum never thinking it would be worn as a wedding dress was like yes this is me.

WoopDeDoo · 01/08/2023 05:26

I wore this Coast dress (£60 in the sale, love a bargain!)

As a pale redhead I know I don't suit white or cream, emerald green is definitely my best colour so I thought sod tradition and where what colour I loved. We didn't have the traditional church wedding, it was a small post-Covid wedding so I think a traditional big white dress would have felt too much.

I got so many comments about the dress!

Delphinium20 · 01/08/2023 05:26

What a lovely thread. Thank you everyone-just all beautiful dresses!
