@ToastCosILoveIt yes the shift has been in and out of the 'to donate' pile a few times here as well! It has some happy memories associated so has been spared.
@Laska2Meryls What amazing bargains and the skirt still looks in good nick (considering it's jersey, v. impressive)! I don't own any knits from Toast but your amazing dye work has made me consider adding a few tees in future sales, even if they are the 'wrong' colour.

Anyone else doing the watercolour class in the email this morning?

I wore the new poppies sale dress yesterday with a jumper , it was that cold, which is very ball-y. Will have to deball.

lovely to see purchases old and new. I’ve ordered the long sleeve jersey top . Not yet got the dispatch email which is a bit sloooow.

🙋‍♀️Inspired by @ilovecherries , I signed up for the Moira Frith watercolour workshop. I have zero artistic talent but I will give it a go - and maybe DD1 will join in.

I have been top mushroom Toast today and have worn my very oldest Toast trousers gardening! My mid-blue Japanese wide leg linen trousers which must be five or six years old ( but still actually still look great after many wears and washes) .. and an Emma tee ( the one I wore last evening, just for a few hours.. so I think that I got away with it.) . Not really 'get muddy' gardening though - just sorting out the greenhouse.. And I have just picked our first tomatoes!! A while bowlful and loads more to come ... So early in the season too ...
It is possible that I may have ordered those parchment canvas linen trousers after all ( yes the expensive ones- along with another navy blue Emma , which I 'need' ). Its just FOMO, do not fret...
. But after all thats been said here, sheep-like , I find that I need to scratch the itch by trying them ' just to see' .... Of course, I do not intend to keep them !! No, not me , I am ' just looking ' just to see what the fuss is all about, OK ? ..'... Famous Last Words

Let us know how you get on. Mine are still on the spare bed where overly expensive clothes have to wait in purgatory until they are matched to 5 other items and can be admitted through the wardrobe gates.

I will have a trying on session later this week but I know I'm going to keep them.

neveradullmoment99 · 25/07/2023 19:22

There's a Toast live tomorrow with Kat. I am wondering what they will show. Thought they might have added more to the new collection. I wonder if she will do THE trousers ? :)

‘Top mushroom Toast’; that phrase makes it into my lexicon of the best expressions of the year. We all here know exactly what you mean.

”The” trousers were already shown on the early autumn styling live talk that Nikki did a few weeks ago. Someone was modelling them early on in the video and then Nikki was asked what she would buy from the new collection and said that they were top of her list.

Yes you are right. I remember that. They have shown a lot of the new collection. Will be interesting what else will be shown.

I never answered your question up thread about what I was up to. I’m no longer used to an entire day sitting at a desk and have been collapsing into my hotel bed every night. It’s the final week of a three week personal styling course. I did week one pre-covid and week 2 was moved online in 2020. Since then circumstances have conspired against me getting back to London but I was determined this year, new hip and train strikes be dammed! I trained with CMB many years ago but never really used it as I found it all quite restrictive and formulaic, but this is very different and I’ve been loving it. It’s not a major business for me, I do some volunteer styling for women who have hair loss and I sometimes offer it to my mainstream clients but I do love it and it’s a very nice, happy thing to be doing as my working life winds down. I’m 65 and still under the illusion that I have at least one more career in me!

dudsville · 25/07/2023 21:53

@stoic, i agree with @SmaugMum , top mushroom toast is my new guide line!

And @ToastCosILoveIt , you are a toast live knowledge source queen!

Noodle421 · 25/07/2023 21:53

Oh Wow 🤩
This sounds really interesting and inspiring. Good luck with the course @ilovecherries , such a cool idea and the start of something new and exciting I’m sure.
I’m mid 50 and seriously need to find my mojo, not sure what to do yet but feel I still have plenty to give. Thank you for making me feel inspired ( as you have @SmaugMum )Last week, I sat next to someone on a train who trained as a psychotherapist in her late 50’s. It’s never too late.

dudsville · 25/07/2023 21:55

Aaaaaah @ilovecherries , you are fab ❤

@ilovecherries , wow, honestly, that sounds brilliant. Jolly good for you. I’m inspired by your gumption and your future-proofing. I’m younger than you but I’m the single adoptive parent of two children both of whom have multiple disabilities and complex additional needs. I’m not currently able to work, because every waking moment is tied up with medical appointments and battling for (non-existent) services but if I were, then I would love to offer a personal styling service. I would love to hear how your course goes and please make the most of being in such a wonderful spot.

Saurus72 · 25/07/2023 22:05

I’m looking forward to the Live tomorrow though I’ll need to watch it unlive tomorrow evening - work and shiz getting in the way.

I’d like to see the slate/navy dress with the green curly embroidery around the neck/sleeves, plus the new denim skirt. The sale version was too big and the new one is described as straighter so may work. Those plus the ‘pebble’ neat cashmere jumper are on my wish list so far. Upsettingly, just those 3 items will cost £480 if I buy them full price 😬

ToastCosILoveIt · 25/07/2023 22:41

What a lovely bunch we are on here: @SmaugMum you are amazing, @ilovecherries you too, everyone sounds like the sort of women I would have/want as friends in the real world.

@Saurus72 I hate to live up to my reputation as the “toast live knowledge source queen” which @dudsville has titled me but the new denim skirt was also shown on the early autumn styling video: Nikki said it was narrower/straighter and there is what looks like a kick pleat in the back for those of us who like to stride out when we are walking 🙂

Saurus72 · 25/07/2023 22:43

@ToastCosILoveIt Agree re: the kind of women I would definitely like to know IRL! Thanks for the intel, will definitely go back and watch.

Stoic123 · 25/07/2023 22:59

Bunch of inspiring women!

I aspire to be in @Laska2Meryls' mushroom gang.

Day 25 of July's Different Toast a Day Challenge was the Slate Panelled Cotton Linen Dress. I casualised it (Nikki word?) by throwing a sweatshirt on top. Yesterday wore the Ecru Carpenter Jeans in Parchment. Enjoyed both.

Having a few doubts about the Ticking Stripe Dress. Went to put It out for tomorrow but it really is one for WFH only. I'm going to wear the Broderie Anglais dress in Slate instead. Bought it for funerals but don't want to save for worst. First outing!

Noodle421 · 25/07/2023 23:01

The new denim skirt is quite straight and narrow but kicks out very slightly at the bottom which makes all the difference when it comes to balancing out my ‘pear’ shape proportions (I don’t suit straight pencil style). The Toast assistance described the shape as the bottom of the Annie jeans which I thought was quite accurate.

dudsville · 26/07/2023 07:13

@Stoic123 , i would struggle to wear the ticking stripe dress out too. Why is this? One of the reviewers said she was going to wear hers to a wedding or some such. For me to wear it out the severe neck line would be to become more of a boat neck...... i wonder how hard that would be to do?

Stoic123 · 26/07/2023 07:23

@dudsville - I think it is something about the neckline. Makes it look like an unintentional bib?

Countmeout · 26/07/2023 07:24

What colour can I dye this jacket @Laska2Meryls ? I bought it a couple of years ago in sale and struggle to find something I want to wear it with. I don’t need navy or green but other than black would anything else work? Don’t think I could get it to rust.
Have to say when I got it out to take photo this morning it’s even browner than I remembered. I think it might have been called tobacco.

Oh no! That's how I'm going to think of it now! I've just emailed a seamstress to ask@Stoic123 !

Is it quite long?
I struggle with fixed waistbands. Is it generous? Would love to have the beautiful indigo denim skirt.
A rarity to find one elsewhere. Such a useful and timeless garment.

ilovecherries · 26/07/2023 08:17

Todays Toast outfit. Angle is weird as I’m cutting my face out, trousers actually making my legs look quite long.
