Going strong for more than 8 years! Full of great reviews, reports of empties and despair over our ever growing stashes!

…oh, six (6) actually, I’d forgotten about the 2 cake ACs I ordered for OH and either me or a friend (haven’t decided yet but am pretty sure OH won’t share his with me).

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 27/10/2023 11:45

Cake advent @MavisMcMinty ? Sounds lush.

@Fraaahnces I don't let DH put his trotter into my stuff. Hygiene ocd in my case. I dispense it to him. That's the way forward I think. Grin

My The Fragrance Shop advent has come. Was pretty good value, with the myTFS membership discount, so worked out about 68 quid I think. Nice mix of smellies and shampoo/body wash and stuff that I have justified by believing it won't add to my considerable stash.

Fraaahnces · 27/10/2023 23:24

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants - me too! I use wee plastic spatula - after washing my hands! (If I didn’t know the great ape had just crawled out of the shower, I would have broken the pearls I was clutching!)
*He won’t do it again. No threats to life or limb involved, but he has no interest whatsoever and boring him to death with the “science” of needing it all is a great way to ensure he’s going to leave it as is.

JMAngel1 · 28/10/2023 09:37

@PomRuns not snippy at all!!

@Fraaahnces god, my DH is like this - I 'm dreading moving up into new loft bedroom as it has a small ensuite which will expose all my potions 😂
Going to have to keep secret stash in main bathroom although I've been told by my tween daughters, I need to get everything out 😯

listsandbudgets · 29/10/2023 11:40

A few more empties but only ine in photo

tube of non descript hotel shower gel which I actually really liked as it was unscented and did a good job of being... well.. shower gel.

final tube if gemolgy conditioner.. last of 3 as pp.from a hotel in Paris.. OK not brilliant

small tube of L'occtaine almond body cream. probably from an AC or gift with purchase. will probably RP when my lake of body cream has diminished! nice light texture and I like the smell. leaves my skin soft

An M&S hand cream. It was fine but nothing great.

Advent calendar count = zero, holding firm 🦸‍♀️
SpaceNK GWP = upstairs winking at me 🙈

And I was doing so well…🫤 not even enough room in my little beauty stash boxes again…wahh

CorneliaStreet · 29/10/2023 16:37

That Space NK GWP looks great @CurlyFerret.

I caved and ordered the M&S calendar yesterday. I was ordering some stuff for DD anyway so it seemed rude not to.

I got the Cult Beauty skincare box last week too. I think I’m a lost cause.

CurlyFerret · 29/10/2023 17:56

@CorneliaStreet to be fair the M&S AC has some lovely things in there I could definitely succumb.

DH said he’d take one for the team and have a new jumper if I wanted to buy it - what a hero!

The GWP is good, a few things I can use as stocking fillers which is helping me justify my splurge.

listsandbudgets · 29/10/2023 19:47

I bought the children's christmas pyjamas from M and S .. I'd. been holding back on getting them so I could get them for qualifying slend for advent calendar

Experiment627 · 30/10/2023 05:59

@JMAngel1 please keep us posted on move to loft room. Are you not able to bribe tweens?

I watched a couple of haircare videos and now have a list ready of stuff I want to try that will keep me going all of next year! Also I really want to try the new Timotei - I adored that as a child.

In terms of advents... still have not been tempted... but I definitely want something to open when my son is opening his - this year I have gone for a Batman stationery one, a construction truck one and will fill up the refillable one with chocolate.

OP posts:
Peridot1 · 30/10/2023 08:16

@CurlyFerret - I have held firm on the advent calendars too. So far………. I know I will have major FOMO though if I don’t get one.

I’m goi g to the US on Wednesday and I know I’ll buy stuff there. As I already have a list! So adding advent calendar items into my stash would be ridiculous.

Fraaahnces · 30/10/2023 09:10

@JMAngel1 Your stash is equally likely to be plundered by tweens. I have mine in my bedside cabinet. (DH uninterested in it’s contents.) Also closer to en-suite when you wish to swap things around.
Seems I purchased the wrong Jumiso Vitamin C serum. (Seems they have three different ones.) I bought the gentlest when I should have gone for the more nuclear version. (I was using a strong vitamin C prior to this.) It doesn’t help that to me it smells like Turkish Delight. I have purchased two others to try and they should be on their way soon.
(Am looking at Black Friday BOGOFF Sales already 😵‍💫)

CorneliaStreet · 30/10/2023 09:18

Empties:

Korres Greek yoghurt foaming cleanser - 150ml. Loved this, really creamy and leaves skin soft. You only need a tiny bit so this tube lasted months. Will probably RP at some point, though I have a mini to use up first.

Origins Ginzing ultra hydrating cream - 15ml. This felt lovely and absorbed well. Maybe a bit too fragranced for a face moisturiser.

Bath & Body Works body lotion - 236ml, Watermelon Mojito. B&BW is my favourite body lotion formula so I get whatever is on offer when Next have a sale. Some of the scents are lovely and some are a bit dodgy - this one was ok, but not my favourite.

Max Factor Divine Lashes mascara - the wand was a bit bigger than I prefer but it was a good mascara, went on evenly and didn’t flake or smudge. Liked the brown black colour too.

Then a Patchology face mask and a couple of perfume samples - Jo Loves Green Orange and Coriander (lovely) and Ellie Saab Elixir (also lovely, which is good as I have a couple more. It’s a proper grown up style perfume, white florals on amber). I went on a big perfume sample set buying binge last year and still have a tin of random ones left, so trying to use up a couple a week.

Peridot1 · 30/10/2023 11:52

A few empties but I forgot to take pics.

Beautypie Japanfusion cleanser. Love this cleanser and have two more in my stash.

Strivectin anti wrinkle handcream- like it but have lots of hand creams to use up so not planning on replacing

Art + Acre small size shampoo and conditioner - were ok but wouldn’t repurchase. Got them in a Cult Beauty hair care edit.

@Fraaahnces - that’s annoying to have discovered you got the wrong one. But an excuse to buy the right one!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 30/10/2023 14:36

@Experiment627 I loved Timotei shampoo too as a child. My favourite was the one with almond milk. 😝

FiveShelties · 30/10/2023 22:31

Right so here I am in the UK and have cleared my late Mum's house and the sale completed last week. I have numerous products which I had at Mum's, most of them from previous AC and a couple of beauty bags from M & S. I almost bought the M&S AC today, just wondering how much my suitcases will stretch!

I have absolutely no need to purchase anything. I have so much stuff but.......

Experiment627 · 31/10/2023 04:22

Well done for getting through that @FiveShelties 💜

Peridot1 · 31/10/2023 07:49

@FiveShelties - a hard job to do. We had to do that too last year. I really miss having the house to go back to. Like you I live in a different country.

FiveShelties · 31/10/2023 09:35

Thank you @Experiment627 and @Peridot1

I am so pleased it is done, I was worried about leaving the house empty over the winter. I must admit to feeling strange as I sorted through Mum's stuff. Felt quite intrusive somehow.

Peridot1 · 31/10/2023 15:00

@FiveShelties - we took quite a long time to do it. Had some laughs and some tears along the way. And an awful lot of “why on earth did he keep that?” comments.

Fraaahnces · 31/10/2023 20:19

Glad the house is done @FiveShelties - I did that with Mum’s too. It was awful.

so i've now got 2.advent calanders.. Liberty and M &S and a mountain of toiletries. Ive decided to challenge myself not to buy any more beaitynprodicts until June UNLESS i've run out of that category.. e.g. no moisturiser, no handcream, no.serum etc. Etc. I honestly don't expect that I will be needing g to buy very much 😂

any one else mad enough to join me in an 7 month buying ban. i'm going to save for a nice piece of jewellery to give me an incentive

Yes, I really need to do that. I just get too tempted by the special offers, gwps etc. This thread did help to keep me on the straight and narrow up until september but I've gone a bit mad since then.
