Going strong for more than 8 years! Full of great reviews, reports of empties and despair over our ever growing stashes!

I do Glossybox and Look Fantastic, although will cancel them both at the end of the year, some boxes there’s nothing at all that I want or will use.

Newish to me (and better IMO than either Glossy or LF) is Latest in Beauty, where you get to choose the 6 items every month. Once you’ve been a member for 3 months you become a LiB Pro and get 15% off and free P&P on any other edits/boxes you order.

But my favourite is Liberty Beauty Drop, such a great scheme, and such covetable “kits”! I really wish Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nicks would launch their own similar schemes, I’d use them as AC savings accounts as I do with Liberty.

CorneliaStreet · 11/10/2023 21:53

I fell foul of Amazon prime day, so have more stuff coming in. Some more Cosrx snail essence, some Aveeno shampoo and also got a Murad set with a full size of their exfoliating cleanser, a full size of the moisturiser I finished recently which I really liked plus a mini serum, only £21 for the set. Couldn’t pass that up!

PomRuns · 12/10/2023 06:59

Thanks for all that info @MavisMcMinty I’m hoping Liberty will do Christmas kits again.

CorneliaStreet · 12/10/2023 10:20

Empties:

Garnier 7 days body lotion - 400ml. I liked that this had a lightweight texture but was still really moisturising and that it was only £3 for this big bottle. Wasn’t that keen on the scent, but I’ve got a couple of different ones in this range to try.

Pixi Rose face oil - 30ml. This was too heavy for my face, it just sat on the skin and didn’t absorb. Ended up adding it to body lotion and using up that way. Seems to be a beauty box staple so I’ve got another bottle in the stash.

Living Proof hair perfecting spray - 50ml. Worked really well as a detangler and made hair smell lovely.

Perfumes - 10ml mini of Miller Harris Rose Silence. Not my favourite MH scent (Secret Gardenia) but this is a nice, fresh, modern rose scent. Also used up little samples of Labatorio Olfattivo Arancia Rossa (gorgeous, realistic blood orange scent) and Ruth Mastenbroek Zephyr Forest Mint (not keen).

@StarryNightAddict there are numerous reasons why making a complaint makes sense. The fact you have resigned is not necessarily a "drawback" as you may be able to argue constructive dismissal. Maybe worthwhile getting some legal advice.

@PomRuns you are doing so well!!!

Ohhhhhh ladies

I have fallen right off the wagon but you are all doing so well!

Here are some empties and a couple of chucks:
Fragrabces - I love all these and have RP the F&M one at least twice, plus the Vilhelm twice and Le Labo once. All from ACs originally. Think fragrance needs to be my AC goal :)
Sunday Riley eye cream - Liberty AC big hitter but I’m not amazed tho I love SR normally
Honey halo moisturiser was good actually, but lots more in my stash
Collagen serum (from AC) - bit meh
Other bits - chuck, dislike

StarryNightAddict · 13/10/2023 09:41

Some empties

mecca cosmetica spf serum freebie in the my October beauty loop. Good sunscreen but hated the packaging so won’t be purchasing.

korres Greek yoghurt gel cream I really quite liked this, but it did sit on top of my skin for a bit and made me feel a bit shiny. Undecided.

skin fix peptide + barrier moisturiser Sephora freebie. Was ok. Nothing special. Full size seems overpriced.

I need to start my Christmas shopping, I’ll get my fix by buying skincare for the kids stocking stuffers 😁

CurlyFerret · 14/10/2023 16:42

Hi gang - hope we’re all well! I really should try and post after a few empties not the shed load I now have but been super busy with stuff so here goes…

Batiste dry shampoo cheap as chips and always my favourite though I prefer the purple can volumiser version
Got2b Matt paste desperate purchase trying to do something with my ever thinning hair..disaster so binning
Cult51 night cream a little too rich for my skin but the day version is lovely
L’Occitane divine cream love this and treat myself every now and again
Lixirskin universal emulsion very thin consistency but nice and easily absorbed I found it gave a great base for makeup in the warmer weather
Nuxe body lotion with honey nice lotion but the honey fragrance was a little too much for me
L’Occitane cherry blossom lotion pleasant fragrance but their prices have gone through the roof so not sure I’d spend on this
REN AHA smart renewal body serum really effective at smoothing the skin but the scent is horrible! Thought it was because I’d had it a while but other reviews confirm that yes it officially stinks 😷
L’Occitane Shea butter hand cream always a great hand cream
The seated queen cold cream absolutely loved this sample from liberty beauty drop and I’ve already repurchased using my credit so free right? 😂
L’Occitane immortelle divine cleanser it was ok but I thought the fragrance was a bit chemical
Cultured biomecare cleansing balm really effective and moisturing so would consider buying full size
Omorovicza moor cream cleanser another lovely one that I’d consider buying, I’ve enjoyed a few of this brand’s products
Rare beauty mascara nothing amazing and quite clumpy after a while
Molton Brown Japanese orange body wash lovely fragrance and always top quality but so pricey these days
L’Occitane Herbae shower gel lovely fresh fragrance

So that’s another 16 to add my running total - 49/100 altogether!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 14/10/2023 22:32

@CurlyFerret wow that’s a lot of empties. Well done you.

@clary do not worry. We all have moments of weakness. I don’t tend to post every time I purchase something new, but I went to Costco a couple of weeks ago and there are some korean creams that lured me with their cute little pastel colour r. I don’t need them but could not resist the temptation.

clary · 14/10/2023 22:33

@CurlyFerret agree re Cult 51 night cream - the day cream is in F&M AC this yar as you may know and it was very tempting! Last year they had the night cream which like you I am much less a fan of.

MidnightMeltdown · 15/10/2023 13:05

@CorneliaStreet I'm using that Garnier 7 day moisturiser at the moment and I'm also not keen on the scent, but it's a decent moisturiser aside from that.

I'm also using the REN AHA body serum @CurlyFerret and I must be an outlier because I don't mind the scent of this. To me it just smells like some kind of orangey citrus fruit.

Snap @PomRuns! Funny how we both reached 79 empties on the same day!

CurlyFerret · 15/10/2023 14:53

@MidnightMeltdown it does has a faint citrusy smell but the dodgy smell overpowered it for me - really good lotion though

@clary it was the F&M AC that got me started with Cult51 - that was probably my favourite AC to be honest. I’m trying really hard to resist any of them this year as I still have a major stash

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel thank you - still only halfway to my target for the year but I’ve done really well with only (mostly) buying essentials

MidnightMeltdown · 15/10/2023 15:15

I'm with you @CurlyFerret

I still need to get through another 51 products to hit my target for this year. I'm travelling a bit with work atm though, so am getting through a few travel sizes.

I've been naughty with advent calendar buying again this year so would like to try to clear at least 100 products before I start opening more on 1st December!

listsandbudgets · 15/10/2023 21:47

few empties but dp efficie try binned before i got round to photograph

A bottle of Alberto Balsam apple conditioner- standard for me have always loved it and cheap too.

sample of one of Clarins serums.. it was OK

Omorovizca mud cleansing cream. like @CurlyFerret I loved this and I've already got another tube in reserve.

i've got quite a number of more than half used bottles of shower gel at the moment and a bar of soap which seems to have lasted for months and shows no sign of ever ending and a mountain of soap toncome after it, also a sea of hand cream and cleansers.. only thing i'm lowish on is moisturiser

IndianSummer78 · 16/10/2023 01:59

I have one empty. Vitamin E hand cream which I used as body cream. It worked fine. I won't RP because I've got no idea where it came from!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 16/10/2023 19:24

Some more empties:

Aveeno daily moisturising body wash. Staple. Happy with it. Mild enough for my ezcema prone family.

Childs farm baby moisturiser. Okeish. Lasted a lifetime. Very hard to get last bits out. Fragrance is pleasant but not strong. Good consistency, not too runny not too think. However, when I used it, seems to become watery and difficult to apply, as if it slips. I don’t think I will repurchase. I have almost finished another bottle.

Moisturising gel by Cien for face. This is from Lidl. I like to try new things but boy oh boy this is terrible. Super sticky, so much so I could use it for trapping flies. It stang on my face and would pill horribly. Used it up on my décolletage and it was terrible too. On my legs a horror as well. Honestly, I don’t have anything good to say about this other than it smelt ok. To my dispair I bought 2 of them.

The phantom tube is a cleansing balm from a study that was horrible as well. I had never tried a balm and this one has put me off for life. Smelt chemical, thick and greasy and it was a mess. I don’t even know the brand to try and avoid it in the future.

Sisbela cosmetics potenciador regenerador acelerador. Very watery. It didn’t do anything at all for me. Came with 2 creams that I am using at the minute.

Fraaahnces · 17/10/2023 00:22

Five empties…
Thierry Mügler Aura EDT. Accidentally purchased this instead of the EDP which I prefer. Lasting power obviously not as great, and also significantly sweeter than the EDP. I still like it even though it lacks the intense “fresh, greenness” of the EDP. Won’t repurchase as I have an EDP going already. (Constantly asked what I’m wearing with this one.)
Estee Lauder Green Tea & Fig. Was an impulse buy at the chemist last summer. Was on special for $10.00. I hated it initially, but as the day wore on, I began to love it. Not sure if I can get it again, but has been a perfect purse/work fragrance. Lasts well too.
Clean it Zero Citrus (or Vitamin C) cleansing balm. Amazing. Unfortunately it is so enjoyable to use I have been overly generous while slathering it on. Smells divine and has a “sorbet” texture. Will buy again next time I see it on sale. (Was cheaper than my usual Heimish All Clean Balm at the time but is normally more expensive. Scent is more orange than Mandarine but a bit stronger. It’s a happy smell.) I won’t repurchase atm as I have two others in my stash.
I have used my (Hada Labo) Rohto Mentholatum CC Premium Serum. It’s amazing.
I have been using this for so long I want to try something else to compare it to. Still researching as have other (less miraculous) serums on the go. Will slather and mix and match until they’re gone and THEN buy vitamin c serum.
Lastly Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Sun Serum. Bloody marvellous stuff! The glow is real with this one. Divine texture. Have another serum sunscreen on the way to compare it to, but will probably repurchase. This is in a wee pump bottle also perfect for purse, but I did use it up pretty quickly. (Perhaps because reapplication was so enjoyable.)

Fraaahnces · 17/10/2023 09:10

I forgot two more empties… 1) Nivea Silver Protect roll-on deodorant. It’s a men’s one with a lovely, light, fresh scent. I repurchased today.
2) Klavuu Coconut Lip Mask. It was touted as a cheaper Laneige dupe, but the texture isn’t as nice. It’s thicker and “glueyer” for want of a better description. I was sent the coconut instead of berry and I am really NOT a fan of coconut anything. Luckily it’s more vanilla-scented anyway. I actually did enjoy the nudey brown colour and wore it to work. I won’t repurchase as I have the new Pink Lemonade Laneige. It’s a bit nice!

I have decided to experiment with the Jumiso All Day Vitamin Brightening and Balancing Serum. I have read many good reviews. On its way are two more sunscreens. Mary & May Vegan Blackberry Complex Multi Sun Balm SPF 50++++. Numbuzin No 1 Clear Filter Sun Essence -SPF 50++++ (this has been getting rave reviews. Shall report back on all new products.)
Also Haruharu Centella A.C.E. Vitaful Miracle Healing Multi Balm. These balms a great to chuck in your bag for work - especially if you wear masks.

Alondra · 17/10/2023 09:11

I hate wasting money on beauty products but I'm 63 y.o. 😁

These days I spend money on products I've tested over the years, know they are good value and make a difference on my skin.

Cleanser - Cetaphil with plenty of cold water.
Mosturiser - Sun Sense SPF 50
Night Cream - Olay Hyaluron or Dr Lewinn's Collagen Surge (a good collagen cream is essential as we age)
Base primer - Rageism Illuminating Primer
Make up - Armani's Luminous Silk or Chanel Vitaliumeri

listsandbudgets · 17/10/2023 11:44

A couple of small ones

Sample of Clarins Fresh Scrub.. exactly as ot says a fresh smell g face scrub. really like this one and may RP when my face cleanser lake starts running g down

Gemology conditioner. not the best left my hair feeling a bit rough. Ot was from a hotel room so suppose so nothing lost except I've got 2 more tubes to use up

Shower caps and sewing kits are the only things worth taking home from a hotel imo!

PomRuns · 18/10/2023 07:52

Thank you @Experiment627
spooky @MidnightMeltdown probably lots of the same products too.

2 random empties as DD poured the remains in the bath for some unknown reason.
Neom shampoo and conditioner. Not good at all. Hair felt quite dry and a bit tangled.
I really like the candles and diffusers but everything else I’ve tried I’ve not liked (balm, hand cream, body lotion). I’ve a face oil in my stash so will report back on that.

81/90
32 samples I think.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 18/10/2023 17:02

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel the cleanser you didn't like in your picture, is that not Omorovicza moor cream the same as @CurlyFerret has on her pic? If it is, we got it in a BD I had the same one and wasn't keen. People seem to either love it or hate it, doesn't seem to be much middle ground!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 18/10/2023 18:16

Hi @SpongeBobJudgeyPants I don’t think it is judging from CurlyFerret’s picture. Hers has a black cap and mine is white and round.
TBH it was from a study and they never mentioned the brand, although I am thinking about writing to them and ask.
Terrible as I can’t think of a better word.

clary · 18/10/2023 23:38

Two more empties (sorry no pic)

Night face oil from the Liberty AC last year - I RPd the calendar when I saw it on ebay for £200 as I loved the perfume and the Venn cream so much and some other items too... so this is the face oil, love it too. Sad that I seem to be out of face oil - was sure I had a Sunday Riley in the stash but suspect I may have used it as an item in my self-filled Advent Calendar - which is a bit ridiculous of me as I now want it!

Uoma mascara from the Liberty AC - this is a chuck as it is rubbish and gives me clumpy eyelashes and then black smudges by the end of the day. I have another one too (as RPd the calendar) so will sell that!
