Going strong for more than 8 years! Full of great reviews, reports of empties and despair over our ever growing stashes!

Such a pity @Experiment627 but the rest looks fab!!!
I “accidentally” bought stuff today. In my defence, I have about two days left of cleansers.

  1. Curel Foaming Wash. Would recommend this without hesitation to absolutely anyone.
  2. Banila Co Mandarine C Cleansing Balm. (Sniff test is highly favourable)
  3. Two very cheap mists to keep in the car for freshening up. (It’s the first week of Spring and already pushing 30’c here.)
  4. Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Sun Essence. (Looks and feels amazing but stings ze eyeballzzzz! )
Peridot1 · 07/09/2023 08:35

Aargh @Fraaahnces - I think that might be one of the spfs I bought! Hate stingy eyes ones.

Loving your haul @Experiment627!

I am definitely definitely definitely not buying another thing this year. Except maybe an advent calendar and then only one costing less than £50.

I bought the new Caroline Hirons kit last week which arrives today. Not sure where I’m going to put it all! My stash drawer is full.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 07/09/2023 09:10

Empties: Liz Earley clean and polish. I love this and have another in my stash.

Lacura Q10 night cream. I was pleasantly surprised with this.

Byoma moisturiser. I got this in the CB advent calendar last year. I really liked it and will probably RP.

And my Korean haul has arrived! Now I just need to figure out how to use it all.

I am sitting at my desk doing the 7 layers thing with the Pyunkang Yung essence.

@Fraaahnces - how long should I leave between layers? I put 3 on over the past 40 minutes, mainly because I got distracted. I assume I should put them on more frequently?

Fraaahnces · 07/09/2023 12:15

@OchonAgusOchonOh , I love the products you’ve chosen, but honestly think 7 (or 10) layers is potentially overkill. I would pay the essence in, add your lotion or serum (whichever has the lightest texture) and gently build up to moisturiser. The wet, hydrating ingredients of the toner are rumoured to help bring actives further into the skin while minimizing sensitivity. That’s how they work for me. If you want to keep doing the 7 layers thing, you could get a spray bottle and apply a fine mist.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 07/09/2023 12:32

Brilliant. Thanks @Fraaahnces

Experiment627 · 07/09/2023 12:47

Love your haul @OchonAgusOchonOh

@OchonAgusOchonOh - I’ve never done a full 7 layers either. I think once when my skin was feeling really dry and tight I did five. I find three is good for me but I don’t do it every day.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 07/09/2023 13:19

I am so excited about it @Experiment627 I also went in to Aldi and got their dupes for Sunday Riley Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment, which I have never tried, and Colour Wow Dreamcoat, which I love.

So overall this week, my stash has increased dramatically. That said, none of the advent calendars are appealing so I may end up just getting M&S to have something to open so there won't be the usual december increase.

countdowntonap · 07/09/2023 17:28

@OchonAgusOchonOh Aldi do a Colour Wow dupe?! Please let us know if it’s as good as the original.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 07/09/2023 17:40

Will do @countdowntonap although I've a bit to go in the colour wow one so it will be a few weeks before I start it.

Fraaahnces · 08/09/2023 01:53

@Peridot1 I’m going to be very careful near my eyes, but I can categorically state that this sunscreen applied under my usual “foundation” (it’s just a light bb Cream mixed with moisturiser) gave me such a glow I had lots of compliments at work last night!

FiveShelties · 08/09/2023 04:49

Four empties to report. It seems to take ages to finish off the last bits. I was hoping to have made great inroads to the stash by now as I have to return to clear out my Mum's house next month and I have lots of stuff there too!

61 Bristows Hair Spray works fine
62 Sukin Facial Scrub, quite liked this, many cleaners, scrubs in stash.
63 Naturtint Hair Spray 30ml, just a tiny spray in a plastic bottle which was ideal for travelling. From a H & B Advent calendar.
64 No7 Beautiful Skin Body Polish, from ages ago so thought I would finish it off in the shower after swimming. Absolutely no need to repurchase have litres of shower stuff.

64/96

I have an empty:

  • Dr Salts create calm Epsom salts shower gel - lavender & lemongrass: this was on sale at Waitrose and left my skin feeling very soft. The scent was not my fave - I think I want more lavender, less lemongrass and a stronger formula.

I was feeling gross today. (Overtired? Coming down with a bug? Who knows…)
It was so hot and clammy today I used a sheet mask. It’s nice enough in cool weather but can’t say I’d do it every day.

CorneliaStreet · 08/09/2023 12:20

@Fraaahnces I think it was you that uses the Hada Labo blue tranexamic lotion, is that right? When/how do you use it, is it in the evening in place of a serum?

Hope you’re feeling better soon. It’s hot and humid here in the UK too at the moment, though I bet it is more so where you are!

Jennalong · 08/09/2023 13:20

Not empties , but I've just received 3 items to trial : Vichy Neovadiol serum , Vichy Neovadoil redensifying plumping day cream and Vichy Neovadiol multi corrective eye & lip care . Has anyone ever used these products ?
They target peri & post menopause skin.

Experiment627 · 08/09/2023 15:19

Will do !

PomRuns · 08/09/2023 21:26

A few empties.
I really liked the sun screen.
Ouai leave in conditioner- have purchased a full size. Liked the sample a lot. Light but hair felt quite silky.

62/80

30 samples.

Hi @CorneliaStreet… That’s not the BOJ sunscreen that hurt my eyes. The one you have is their first one and it’s LOVELY! (The new one is too, but not for the eyes.) As for the Hada Labo, I can’t tell if you have the watery gel or the milky lotion version. Either way, you can pop it on as a serum or over/under one. (Just out the thinnest textured product on first. This will last you for ages!) It’s very gentle and very hydrating. Please be aware that results are slow, but with consistent use, you will glow. I’m a bit interested in the soybean cream that you have a sample of too. (Post menopausal skin supposedly loves soybean!) I look forward to hearing your reviews of these products.

MidnightMeltdown · 09/09/2023 18:42

I'm jealous of the Asian beauty hauls! I've been meaning to try this stuff for ages. Will be interested to hear how you get on.

A few empties:

66) Champneys hand cream - I like the fact that it has spf in it, but that's about it. Not keen on the scent and didn't find it especially moisturising

67) Elizabeth Arden plum lip protectant - regular purchase

68) Dr Dennis Gross SPF - ok, not a favourite. Quite thick and left a bit of a white cast

Total for the year 68/130

Experiment627 · 09/09/2023 19:12

So exciting @CorneliaStreet!!!

@Fraaahnces how long does a jar of Laneige lip sleeping mask typically last you? Do you worry that it says 12 months on the jar?

listsandbudgets · 09/09/2023 21:02

An empty. This was in beauty drop box and I was prepared to hate it as usually dont like mud cleansers but I love it both for the smell and how soft it leaves my skin. I've tracked down some more on Vinted
