Going strong for more than 8 years! Full of great reviews, reports of empties and despair over our ever growing stashes!

@Experiment627 - have a read of the book Ultra Processed People by Chris Van Tulleken. What is in our food is scary!

I have just reserved that at the library - it looks really interesting and very scary.😀

Experiment627 · 02/09/2023 11:55

Ooooo @CorneliaStreet I must check that out - I went to see her on that tour whe she was at Wembley and I was preggers

@IndianSummer78 I have some of those eyelid tapes. They’re VERY cheap in KBeauty sphere. I have used them once. They were great!!! You can get different sizes and shapes. If you can find a Daiso (Japanese department store) you can buy several sizes/shapes to try very cheaply.

IndianSummer78 · 02/09/2023 16:09

Thanks, maybe I will still be able to wear eyeshadow when I'm old then ☺️

CorneliaStreet · 02/09/2023 16:23

I’ve just done a stock take of body stuff and I have a grand total of 2,820ml of body lotion and 2,850ml of shower gel 😆

Weirdly, absolutely no body scrub though.

Fraaahnces · 03/09/2023 00:26

@Peridot1 Really? You’re coming here?? That’s so cool! If you’re heading to Brisbane and I am in town, I’d love to meet up for a coffee …glass of wine… I wouldn’t bother bringing anything here if you had to post it though. Aus post is expensive and slow as hell.

Fraaahnces · 03/09/2023 02:04

@Peridot1 - my OCD is not enjoying the lack of symmetry with your lotion to body wash ratio.

Peridot1 · 03/09/2023 09:39

@Fraaahnces - for some reason I thought you were in Melbourne. I’ll be in Sydney and Melbourne for sure and possibly Brisbane but not sure yet.

Fraaahnces · 03/09/2023 10:04

I used to live in Melbourne. (I would go back in a heartbeat!) Keep me in the loop when you know what you’re doing!

FiveShelties · 03/09/2023 10:09

Melbourne is a fantastic city. So much to see and do, so many restaurants - just love it.

CorneliaStreet · 03/09/2023 16:25

This week’s empties. Still haven’t managed to finish my never ending cleanser though!

Rahau volumising conditioner - 60ml, didn’t like the eucalyptus smell of this, was ok as a conditioner.

Cowshed Hydrate hand cream - 50ml, loved this, smelt gorgeous and nice and hydrating. Got this in a set of three, so a couple more left to use up.

LRP Toleraine moisturiser - 40ml, this is my third or fourth tube of this. Great everyday moisturiser, perfect thickness for my skin.

Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm - one of my all time favourites. Got a replacement already stashed.

Burts Bees lip balm - quite liked this flavour (cranberry spritz).

George Northwood detox shampoo - just a couple of sample sachets. I really liked this and I like the idea of a weekly detox shampoo. I suspect this one is pricey though.

An empty… I have already repurchased. There are other versions of virtually the same thing by La Roche Posay and Avene, but this was on special and I like the texture better. Is it exciting? No, but it really helps with the menopausal itchy skin and the wintery lizard legs. Actually, even my feet seem to be in good condition since I have been using it. (On the body not the face, although reasonably certain I could use it to cleanse makeup off too.) Obviously being Bioderma, it’s unscented (Probably why I think it’s boring) but I am using far less body lotion as a result too. It washes off without residue and I am clean and not shedding like a snake every time I use a towel.

I love this too, a brilliant discovery.

Experiment627 · 04/09/2023 10:06

I have an empty:

  • Hada Labo anti-aging facial sheet mask: meh
OP posts:
Fraaahnces · 04/09/2023 11:13

That’s how I feel about ALL sheet masks @Experiment627 They have never wowed me. I have a working theory that they are all the leftover serums, etc that didn’t sell, so they package it up with a giant face-shaped tissue and call it a sheet mask.

MidnightMeltdown · 04/09/2023 11:26

I don't get sheet masks either. I thought that they were invented to bump up the 'value' of advent calendars. Especially the ones that claim to be 'worth' £20.

I mean, what exactly is the purpose of the giant face shaped sheet? Why not just put the serum in a packet or tube and allow people to rub it in?

Fraaahnces · 04/09/2023 11:35

I ALWAYS get freebie sheet masks (shit masks) when I order from K-Beauty sites. I store them up and use them as “fillers” in gifts for people’s bdays, etc.

MavisMcMinty · 04/09/2023 11:50

I use them when I get them in boxes, and my main gripe is that I never know which side of the mask is supposed to go onto the skin, often I turn it over after 10 minutes just to be sure. Some instructions say “peel off the paper sheet then peel off the plastic sheet” when both the paper and the plastic sheet are identical! I like the eye masks, usually, but not the “self-heating” one which has been in several boxes over the last year.

MavisMcMinty · 04/09/2023 11:52

Most serums I buy come in 15ml or sometimes 30ml bottles, and those sheet masks often contain 20ml or so of serum - a whole bottle in one go, basically!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 04/09/2023 12:33

I have some very boring empties that are mainly wash stuff :

Neutrogena ocean mist, rain bath shower and bath gel This bottle lasted a lot of time and I liked the fragrance. However, I won’t repurchase as it is too runny for my taste.

head and shoulders two in one shampoo this is a staple in our home, but it is very boring and basic. I have too many to go through.

Aveeno cream moisturising cream I really like this as my skin feels supple and moist and not tight. I would love if it had another sort of smell instead of the plain one but it’s okay and have plenty to go through.

palmolive pomegranate shower gel. it is okay and does the job

Garnier Ultimate blends hair food, watermelon and Pomagranate. Won’t RP

Cocomelon bubble bath very gloopy texture, but kept my children entertained won’t repurchase

Jennalong · 04/09/2023 13:37

I had two bottles of Molton Brown Floral Lumiere Shower gel that I purchased on a whim , when I used one I didn't particularly like it , so I've got rid of one by being very generous when in the shower , and the other gifted to a friend so 2 empties !

MavisMcMinty · 04/09/2023 13:44

Although I think Molton Brown is very over-priced, their shower gels really do go a very long way, and yield the most bubbles in a bath. Elemis bath products are also very very bubbly. I buy MB at QVC when they have deals - there was a trio of my favourite one (Rhubarb and Rose) there last week, although I didn’t succumb, with P&P it still worked out at £15.33 a bottle.

IndianSummer78 · 04/09/2023 14:47

I used up a wow moisture revival face sheet mask today. I've had it hanging around for ages after buying it in a whim when it was on special offer. I can see the appeal. I usually have 6 step skincare routine in the morning, which was reduced to 3 with this mask (cleanse, mask, sunscreen) and it was easy to tell which side of the mask goes on your face.

I didn't like the experience of wearing it though. The eyes, nose and mouth didn't match up with mine. One of the main areas I need moisture is the T-zone and because the mask didn't fit properly that area didn't get full benefit. Although initially skin felt well moisturised, within 15min of taking it off my skin was feeling tight again. I just don't see where a mask would fit into my skincare routine in a regular basis and as an occasional use thing it hasn't worked for me. I won't be buying any masks again.
