Looks like we ran out of space - welcome to a shiny new thread! (the 36th edition!)

Hope you approve of the title. 😁

As always, everyone is very welcome - we're most definitely open to Newbies. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

Today I wore Caroline Herrera 212 VIP Rose , an old favourite that I noticed I hadn’t reached for in a while

FindingMeno · 05/02/2024 19:49

Mine today was Anais Anais.
So beautiful and longlasting.

Searchingformystyle · 05/02/2024 20:20

@FindingMeno Anais Anais was my very first perfume when I was about 14, I absolutely loved it and may now have to repurchase!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/02/2024 21:49

SOTD Penhaligons Juniper Sling. Love this. Yesterday was JM Wood Sage and Seasalt.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 05/02/2024 22:10

SOTD was Orangeasm by Soap and Glory an orange citrus burst that I am working hard on finishing. Very refreshing after a shower

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 06/02/2024 02:24

SOTD Zara Red Temptation

Searchingformystyle · 06/02/2024 13:27

Today I have spritzed Penhaligon’s Empressa, it was my wedding perfume so always makes me smile to wear it!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/02/2024 17:20

SOTD Byredo Bibliotheque.

CorneliaStreet · 06/02/2024 18:35

SOTD was Gallivant Tel Aviv and SOTE is Commodity Milk again. I’ve almost finished the mini I have and I’m very tempted to get a full bottle. Though today I ordered a full bottle of Kayali Vanilla 28 plus a mini of their pistachio one to try, so I really shouldn’t buy anything else!

itsnothingoriginal · 06/02/2024 18:54

SOTD was Hermes Eau de Rhubarbe - no idea why as it's not the right fragrance for this weather but I just love it!

Love the idea of the Kayali Vanilla - I'm such a vanilla fiend! Must test this one to check it's not too similar to all the other vanilla perfumes I own 🤭

FindingMeno · 06/02/2024 20:14

Sotd was Estee Lauders Knowing.
A bit disappointed with the longevity.
Doesn't compare well with my cacherel scents.

FindingMeno · 06/02/2024 20:18

Is anyone else finding the longevity just isn't there in the more expensive perfumes they have compared with the cheaper ones?
I understand that the pricier ones have a more complex fragrance, but I'd still like to be able to smell it after a couple of hours!!

FestivelyScent · 18/02/2024 13:23

Hello fragrant friends! Hope everyone is doing okay and had had a wonderful Christmas, New Year's and winter so far.

Just been catching up on the thread. Thank you @ThreeImaginaryBoys and @AprilLady for your kind thoughts.

I've been very quiet as I've not been wearing any scent! That is something I never thought I'd say. My migraines and headaches really ratcheted up, plus the injections the Dr gave me made me so ill. I didn't go out for about 5 weeks. It's 6 months since I took my first (and last) dose and I've still not recovered.

The injections made everything smell harsh and artificial so I had to stop spritzing. I just felt nauseous and overwhelmed constantly. I still feel naked every time I go out! And I've missed my scented accompaniments to the seasons. They were a perfect way to augment the cosy joys of autumn and winter.

I'm hoping I'll be able to spray something light every now and again soon, and then contribute properly to the thread once more.

Keep spritzing and happy scented adventures to you all! 😊

Thought this might be the thread to ask…I was browsing perfumes yesterday and tried Juliette has a Gun’s Vanilla Vibes - really loved it but sadly it’s out of my price range. Any recommendations for a similar scent/feel at a more affordable price point (I can go around £50 but around £100 is too much to justify at the moment. I liked that it was a grown up vanilla scent that wasn’t too much like a bakery.

Deathraystare · 26/02/2024 16:11

Wore Elizabeth Taylor's Diamonds and Sapphires today. Not worn for a while as on the top shelf and a bit obscured!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/02/2024 22:34

@FestivelyScent sorry to hear you are so poorly, that sounds awful.

SOTD JM Wild Bluebell.

@Salacia i haven’t smelled the JHAG but my favourite vanillas are Diptyque Eau Duelle and YSL Black Opium. I’m not sure how they compare price-wise though.

Alien Goddess has a similar vibe, also Mancera Holidays + Mancera Coco Vanille which are expensive but can often be picked up with a big discount online. Manceras are also powerhouses so a bottle lasts a long time.

AprilLady · 12/04/2024 18:40

This arrived in the post today. It is a companion volume to the original Perfume Legends which has very recently been published. Really looking forward to reading it.

SOTD: PDM Meliora - much less well known than Delina, but I like it at least as much.

Hope everyone is doing okay!

I am still unable to wear scent, but am hoping to try a few lighter things soon. Can't wait!

That book looks fascinating @AprilLady I was straight in looking for my American favourites amongst the bottles on the cover and spotted Youth Dew and Aromatics Elixir almost immediately. Happy reading.

Definitely looks a good read @AprilLady

And yes I'm good thanks.

SOTD: BVLGARI Splendida

Alchemistress · 16/04/2024 18:33

Hello everyone!
Sorry to hear you're still struggling with scent @FestivelyScent but hopefully a few lighter scents might ease you back in!

We're packing for a house move and I've just found my bottle of Aerin Waterlily Sun which I always love as the weather turns warmer.
Currently using up all my scraps in bottles ahead of the move and am enjoying the randomness of the selection - Dans tes bras by FM, a tiny splash of Halfeti ( I love it but it's everywhere now), some old Marc Jacobs original, some Armani My Way which I'd forgotten about and actually really like, some Xerjoff Lira which I'd forgotten is absolutely delicious, like baked lemon cookies. Not a summer scent but I think I'm getting away with it while the weather is still cool !

itsnothingoriginal · 16/04/2024 19:34

Oh gosh @FestivelyScent that must be tough. I had problems after a bout of COVID and really struggled with fragrance for a while. Hope this improves for you soon.

SOTD Nuxe Floral. I'm not actually a fan of the original but love the pink version - I team it with the oil mixed in with unfragranced body lotion for longer lasting effect.

Also re-enjoying Ffern Spring 21 which Ive brought out again for the slightly Spring like weather!

DramaAlpaca · 17/04/2024 10:58

Hello everyone Smile

@AprilLady that book looks fascinating.

@FestivelyScent sorry you're not able to wear fragrance atm, it must be frustrating. Hope things improve soon.

I'm reaching for Chanel No. 19 a lot at the moment, I think it suits the weather.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/04/2024 16:27

@FestivelyScent fingers crossed that you'll be able to enjoy all the lovely scents again very soon.

SOTD: M&S Apothecary Breath which smells like the night air before it snows mixed with a forest.
It has eucalyptus in it which I quite like
Doesn't last very long though

Edited: to add SOTD

CasadeCoca · 17/04/2024 18:15

SotD #1 Adam Levine
SotD #2 Livre Blanc (Olivia Giacobetti @ Zara)

<Waves at old friends> I don't get to drop in much these days, but thinking about you all. xxx
