Looks like we ran out of space - welcome to a shiny new thread! (the 36th edition!)

Hope you approve of the title. 😁

As always, everyone is very welcome - we're most definitely open to Newbies. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

Tested Baiser Vole Cartier. It's gorgeous! Fresh lily but so soft & romantic.

DuskyBlueDepartingLight · 04/01/2024 14:48

@Judystilldreamsofhorses Also tested No 19 - loved it but found the green colour & mean-green reputation of the EDT misleading. It's soft & deep!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 08/01/2024 10:34

I got myself N°19 the poudree version. Absolutely love it.

I went back and forth trying them both for some time before making up my mind.

The one I didn’t like as much was the edt version of N°19.

Managed to get a brand new perfume yesterday for pretty cheap! I volunteer at a charity shop and a fellow staff member was dealing with some donations. One of the things was a brand new, still in packaging 50ml bottle of DKNY Red Delicious. I laid claim to it before it was officially put out, and managed to get it for £3.75 including my staff discount! It’s a nice smell. Not my favourite but not too bad. I’ve also got my eye on a bottle of Lancôme Idole Nectar, although it’s pretty pricey…

SOTD: Floral Street Neon Rose

Then I popped into M&S & whilst buying a new bottle of Autograph Plum Blossom I had a very liberal spray of Discover Intense Seasalt & Neroli, which will be my next buy.
It smells like Chanel Allure taking a early morning stroll along a Pembrokeshire beach with some seaweed thrown in with a fleeting visit from May Chang essential oil

Also have had a spray of LBTY Wild Rosinda sample which is in the Liberty Beauty Drop January Box which arrived today.
Will be saving up for a bottle of that as it's divine.
It smells just like described but even better

Yodeyma Paris Dinara. Super powdery. I just have a sample but it smells like heavy scented talcum powder.

It says: feminine perfume that smells like perfumed powder, talc, velvet and rose. It’s charismatic and re-defines the idea of femininity in a perfume. It works both for daytime and nighttime.

Family: floral, aldehyde.
Sweet, powdery and floral notes.

toffee1000 · 30/01/2024 16:45

Aaaaaand bought a bottle of Lancôme Idole Nectar! I noticed it was 20% off on John Lewis. It was still pretty expensive but worth it!

FindingMeno · 31/01/2024 18:52

Been thoroughly wallowing in perfume heaven reading this thread.
I've been on a bit of a trip down memory lane of late. Treated myself to Samsara and was sad to find it smells nothing like the Samsara of my youth. Also Je Reviens and Jovan Musk ( mmmmm, gorgeous).
Then Estee Lauders Beautiful and Youth Dew.
And...today...Estee Lauders Knowing ( just as I remember it), and Cacherels Eden and Anais Anais.
I'm not good at discovering new perfumes, so this seems a fine place to learn 👋

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 31/01/2024 22:13

Hello @FindingMeno 😊.

We’ve all been neglecting this thread of late which is a shame because it’s been running for YEARS - perfumistas assemble please!

SOTD was Glossier You, yesterday was Byredo Gypsy Water, and Monday was Diptyque Eau Duelle.

itsnothingoriginal · 01/02/2024 09:15

@Judystilldreamsofhorses Glossier You is my go-to. I can't smell it on myself much but I get so many compliments on this one. Much more than any other fragrance I own!

SOTD Shay & Blue Atropa Belladonna. I find this an interesting scent and can't quite work out how much I like it (!) but is office safe.

CorneliaStreet · 01/02/2024 12:51

@itsnothingoriginal I feel the same way about that Shay & Blue scent. I got it in the M&S advent and I can’t decide whether I like it or not. It’s different to how I expected, based on the name.

SOTD is Gallivant Tel Aviv. Lovely and a nice change from Ariana Grande Cloud, which I have been wearing every day for the past week as it went well with a body lotion I was trying to finish up.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/02/2024 20:06

SOTD Diptyque Eau Papier. This reminds me a bit on Glossier actually @itsnothingoriginal

itsnothingoriginal · 02/02/2024 09:08

Interesting....I shall have to seek that one out @Judystilldreamsofhorses 😊

SOTD Molton Brown Rose Dunes - uncomplicated and pretty dusky rose but in hindsight not entirely the right choice for a grey, drizzly day!

FindingMeno · 02/02/2024 14:31

I'm wearing Eden today and I can't help keep taking a long sniff.
It's really lovely and unusual.

Searchingformystyle · 02/02/2024 14:39

What a fabulous thread! I’d live to join in if you’ll have me 😊

My SOTD is Penhaligon’s Liquid Love

AprilLady · 02/02/2024 15:10

Nice that this thread has revived somewhat. Hope @FestivelyScent is doing okay, as she hasn’t posted for a while.

SOTD Chanel Coromandel, to give confidence for a big work presentation this morning.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 02/02/2024 16:57

I agree that we should revive this.

My SOTD is Yardley English rose but the body spray version. Nice rose without being to powdery or old fashioned.

CorneliaStreet · 02/02/2024 17:26

SOTD was Hermes Un Jardin sur le Nil, which I love but it wasn’t the best choice for a cold day. SOTE is Commodity Milk, much cosier.

toffee1000 · 02/02/2024 18:56

Just spritzed on some Lancôme Ô d’Azur. Definitely feels more “evening-y” than for daytime.

FindingMeno · 02/02/2024 19:20

SOTN for me is Adam Levine for women.
Some say its very like Estee Lauders Sensuous but i haven't tried that to compare.
It's very reasonably priced, beautiful bottle too.
It starts very woody and settles to being mellow and creamy. It smells a lot more sophisticated than the price point would suggest.

I have also tested and indulged in Clinique Happy for the first time ever.
Oh my goodness! Can't wait for sunny days to wear it!!!

Magpiecomplex · 03/02/2024 09:30

Yesterday was Twenty Nine from DR Harris, cologne strength so it doesn't last long but it's a lovely warm, spicy rose

Deathraystare · 04/02/2024 08:35

I will surprise , nay shock, anyone who has ever read my thoughts on perfumed knows I hi ad been very scathing of Avon perfumes. I still think they were better in 1979s, more individual. However, I have been wearing their Little Black Dress. The Lace version. Quite pretty.

AprilLady · 04/02/2024 18:40

SOTD yesterday was Nishane Ani, love the zingy vanilla.

SOTD today is EL Pleasures. Still an easy, pretty, everyday scent. This always takes me back to the late nineties, when I wore it all the time.

toffee1000 · 05/02/2024 13:21

Yesterday I put on DKNY Be Delicious as I hadn’t used it for a while. Not sure about today. Maybe my rose Chloé one…
