At what age (honestly) did you look your best?

Society tells us that youth is beautiful, but I look at photos of myself at 18 and think I looked a total state! No idea about how to dress, skincare, and I still had the puppy fat.

Maybe I'm deluded, but I think I started to look my best from my very late 20s (in early 30s now), but maybe that's due to lots of things - being healthier, exercising more, better fashion, taking care of my skin etc.

My hairstyle, skin and eyebrows and style/ clothing now (40)
Body wise - around 20 - 10 years ago!

Mushroo · 21/05/2023 21:09

About 27 - 29. I was in great shape and I look back and I just look so glowy!

My hair was amazing and I don’t know what I did differently?!

Gwenhwyfar · 21/05/2023 21:11

Started getting wrinkles late twenties.
Big negative is that at age 25 I used sunbeds. Looked great at the time, but who knows what damage it did...

bookmarket · 21/05/2023 21:17

Good question. I think I was late 20s too. Pre-kids. Good hair, slim. Over acne (which I got again at 25) The time I could afford to prioritise clothes and whilst they were still made well. Also age 19. I'd lost my teenage chubby face, and just felt all that, being beyond 6th form and 18. It might have gone downhill after that!

Moviecampingnight · 21/05/2023 21:20

Late twenties and pre kids too!

pennypingletonpenny · 21/05/2023 21:21

Around 25. Then I had kids and lost my way for a bit, but I think I also looked pretty good in early to mid thirties!

I don’t think many people look their best in their late teens. I wore some very odd things back then!

SilentHedges · 21/05/2023 21:23
  1. I was super fit, ab lines, toned and when I look back at pictures I looked stunning. I looked much better than I ever did in my teens or 20s. 30s was definitely the decade.
Laiste · 21/05/2023 21:25

26 to 32

I was gorgeous and thoroughly enjoyed it. Played it to the max and had men falling over themselves to be with me/near me.

Sigh. Feels like a hundred years ago! 😂

Dacadactyl · 21/05/2023 21:25

I'm 37 now but think I looked best just after I'd had my 2nd child at 26. I lost the baby weight within a couple of weeks and there are photos of me from that time (without make up) where I just look fresh faced and really good. Not sure whether it was the pregnancy hormones or what, but for me I'd say 26.

CuriositysCat · 21/05/2023 21:25

Now. Am 43. I know what suits me, am at my goal weight and know how to look after myself. I also give off a ‘don’t fuck with me’ vibe which people seem to find attractive!

Mamette · 21/05/2023 21:26

28 I’d say. I had had DD at 25 so it wasn’t a pre-kids thing. It was just the time when I had got enough money and know-how to groom myself to look my best but I hadn’t started any ageing yet.

cocksstrideintheevening · 21/05/2023 21:27

30-40

User1529865 · 21/05/2023 21:28

Probably about 30, it was a very long time ago...

underneaththeash · 21/05/2023 21:28

late twenties.
look fine in 30’s too, unless heavily pregnant or with young child.

BananaSpanner · 21/05/2023 21:29

I rocked 28-31. I was in really good shape and suited my face. I felt plainer when I was younger and wasn’t that into fitness which came with age (and then went again in last few years). I’ve lost my way a bit in recent years but still scrub up ok. I loved being 30 though and I think it shone through.

BelleSauvage9 · 21/05/2023 21:29

19/20

lissie123 · 21/05/2023 21:30

25

MessyBunny · 21/05/2023 21:30

21-26, I was ridiculously attractive, I couldn’t go
out with someone hitting on me.
That was a long time ago.

Assignedtoworryyourmother · 21/05/2023 21:31

23-25 and then a brief resurgence again around 35.

delilabell · 21/05/2023 21:33

29-30.
I'd lost loads of weight. Life held real promise and it showed on me.

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/05/2023 21:33

I think a lot of people look their best in early 30s, so I doubt you are deluding yourself OP. Body and face still intact, but you’ve found your style and have increased confidence.

WesterChick · 21/05/2023 21:34

30s, I suffered PND and basically stopped eating much at all, plus I had a weird eostrogen surge or something after having DD that made my hair long and luscious and my skin all perfect, so combined with my slimness my face had lovely definition and no wrinkles as yet, and I had developed a sense of style and makeup ability.

Happier and fatter now.

TheOGCCL · 21/05/2023 21:35

Such a good question and surprised by the range of answers.

Definitely not before 30, and not after 40, somewhere in between, maybe 34-36.

I think although you can look back on younger photos and think what was I wearing or doing with my hair, you can't fake that natural youthful bloom.

KohlaParasaurus · 21/05/2023 21:38

Around 18 months. I was quite a cute toddler and it all went downhill from there. I was a lump in my teens and a frump in my twenties when most women are at peak gorgeousness. Nowadays I think I compare not too badly with other women in their late 50s, which I put down mostly to having been lucky with my health and a little bit to having avoided smoking, excessive alcohol and sunbeds.

SunnyEgg · 21/05/2023 21:40

I reckon 23 / 24
