At what age (honestly) did you look your best?

Society tells us that youth is beautiful, but I look at photos of myself at 18 and think I looked a total state! No idea about how to dress, skincare, and I still had the puppy fat.

Maybe I'm deluded, but I think I started to look my best from my very late 20s (in early 30s now), but maybe that's due to lots of things - being healthier, exercising more, better fashion, taking care of my skin etc.

25-30

Sunnydays0101 · 22/05/2023 06:15

I’m in my 50’s and think I’m looking my best now. Probably was too thin in my 20’s, now a weight that suits me. Have more time to spend on myself now - but fitness/hair/clothes, etc have all seemed to come together last few years. Obviously, my face is showing signs if aging but I’m happier than ever with how I look.

geminiflanagan · 22/05/2023 06:41

28-29. Just before dd. Was the healthiest and fittest I've ever been. Loved the exercise classes i did, happy at work, happy at home, and that showed.

Yetisrus · 22/05/2023 06:46

43/44 I was in the gym every day, I had worked out what suited me both in clothes and make up. I very much looked well put together and confident. At 45 I look less put together and am currently struggling with peri-menopause, have no energy and just want to sleep. I've put on all the weight I had lost and kept off during all the lockdowns. Its amazing what a difference a year makes.

SoItGoesAgain · 22/05/2023 06:53

I looked great age 27 but I didn't realise it at the time.

I also looked good when I was 33 up to 37.
I had the confidence in myself by this age to actually appreciate my body and how I looked.

I'm 42 now and am very overweight. ☹️

NatureNurture85 · 22/05/2023 06:55

Around 25 left Uni, got a job, started going to the gym and dressing better.

Sunnysideup999 · 22/05/2023 07:01

Age 23/24 facially I was most beautiful. It was when my husband first met me.
I started earning very well at around 29/30 and so was able to buy better clothes, skin care, hair care etc so I looked good then too.
I did a lot a lot of exercise at 31/32 and so my body looked best then probably.

Pahpahpotato · 22/05/2023 07:05

I look okay again at the moment (30 with an 18 month old, we had a rough stage there for a few months 😂 ) but my best was definitely 25 so far. I was so brown and healthy looking from ping ponging between the UK and NZ (didn’t see a winter for a while!), I was slim as can be, i dressed well (hard not to with the figure!) I was happy to spend my money on natural-looking lash extensions and having my brows and nails done often, my hair was great (that hairdresser had to give up and I’ve not found one as good since 😭). Plus I got married just before I turned 25 so I was in that glowy honeymoon stage.
Ah I wish I appreciated it more at the time 😂

PainAuChocowhat · 22/05/2023 07:05

37/38. I got married so lost 8kg in preparation, scrubbed & buffed as though my life depended on it, hair cut, conditioned & coloured, had a course of expensive facials and religiously applied the dermatologist recommended skincare which meant my skin was as smooth and dewy as a boiled egg. Worked at a fashion company and made the most of their sample sales. Looking back, I look younger, more confident & comfortable in myself and much better put together then than I did in my 20’s.

EllaPaella · 22/05/2023 07:29

Personally I think I'm at my best now in my mid 40's. I am physically fitter than I've ever been in my life, have the disposable income to spend on hair, nails and have worked out what clothes actually suit me rather than just what's in fashion.

StopStartStop · 22/05/2023 07:30

But I'm fine with how I look now, fifty years later, and how I've looked in between. It's ok. It wouldn't suit everyone but I'm ok with it.

Maddy70 · 22/05/2023 07:32

I think late 40s.
Slim
Great hair
More confident

ShandaLear · 22/05/2023 07:33

If you mean when did the menz fancy me the most then it was probably from about 17-35 when I was thin but with massive norks (thanks, grandma!), but I think I look well now at 54. I’m healthy and happy and well loved, and I think that shows on my face and energy.

SallyWD · 22/05/2023 07:41

Probably late 20s. I did look good in my late teens but barely ate so that wasn't healthy or sustainable.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 22/05/2023 07:41

Mid thirties to early forties. I was fabulous then.

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 22/05/2023 08:56

Mid 30s to early 40s, with what seems to be a very welcome resurgence at 47.

GettingStuffed · 22/05/2023 08:57

Probably 23, I had my first at 24 so the lack of sleep since (rest of children and then grandchildren) too my glow away.

I would have said now but I went out last Thursday, in what I though was a decent outfit, until I saw myself in a mirror. I was wrinkly, which seemed to come out of nowhere, I liked my t-shirt but the baggy cropped trousers were terribly unflattering and my denim jacket was completely the wrong length, despite having a mainly hourglass figure I looked square.

A few days later though I was wearing a more flattering dress and a random drunk told me I looked stunning.

MaryJean87 · 22/05/2023 08:59

18 to about 27. I did glamour modelling on and off. After about 28 my weight went up but I'm working on it now. And I have quite a lot of greys now ( I'm 35).

You're so right, a year can make a huge difference but that works both ways!

JustFrustrated · 22/05/2023 09:10

Right now.

I started improving in my 20s by 30 to now, I look my best.

I'm not the smallest I've been, but I'm happy enough. I have had cosmetic surgery, but it's my face. I'm happier now, and you can see that. I look rested, my skin is clear, my hair is shiny.
I'm more confident, so don't live in black clothes.

Apollonia1 · 22/05/2023 09:14

About 38 - 42. I got the fitness bug and was running/cycling every day, so was slim and fit. I had a flexible, well-paying job, and had frequent highlights, pedicures etc, and bought nice clothes, so I looked groomed. I also had a sparkle in my eye from dating a nice guy.

I feel unrecognizable from that person now! I'm 51, two toddlers, very busy senior corporate job, not a second for myself (no exercise, treatments, nice clothes). Hopefully once they start pre-school I'll get some time to get back to "me".

SilentHedges · 22/05/2023 09:15

GreenDressy · 22/05/2023 00:24

Same almost word for word!

Mid fifties now so I have some perspective on the matter 😂

I needed to grow into myself and that's how long it took for me.

Are you me? I'm now also mid fifties. I'm still scrubbing up ok, but honestly I do wish I'd appreciated more, how bloody wonderful I looked in my 30's. I'm not lacking the confidence to say that now, but I had a tonne of insecurities at the time. Ridiculous looking back!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 22/05/2023 09:21

32.Im 43 now

Bloomtime · 22/05/2023 09:22

Oh dear, mine WAS 18! It's been downhill since unfortunately 🥲

Retire50 · 22/05/2023 09:27

20 I had lost a lot of weight and really toned up I had a 4 pack. Didn’t last long.

I’m just sat here at 49 thinking can I get away with no makeup at all today. I usually wear minimal but I’m trying to build up the courage to go totally makeup free.

Now make up seems so pointless.
