Need to up my "dressing for breakfast on holiday " game

We're off to Sorrento this summer (first abroad jaunt since before covid) and whilst not a posh place it's a bit smarter than our usual AI choice hotel.

We'll be either lazing by the pool or going into town for a walk by day, the odd trip so whilst not a dressy holiday per say I think I need something more substantial than a floaty dress over a bikini for breakfast kind of outfit.

I'm still thinking dresses as they are easy and if I choose carefully will suit different parts of the day and activities.

Can anyone recommend some good online places to look, probably top budget of £40ish. Also easy free returns a must - Cupshe have some lovely things but their returns aren't free for example.

Really need ideas as I'm going to be around chic Italians Confused

So far then I've got these x 2 dresses (the second one I've actually gone for navy but couldn't find that picture) and wide leg trousers which I plan to wear with a pretty vest top or cami. Breakfast Breeches if you will! Grin

I tried on that beautiful H & M blue print dress however even sizing down to XS it looked ridiculously billowy on me. I was gutted as it's absolutely gorgeous.

But it has inspired me to consider a nice blue and white print for my third option. I'd normally avoid a print as they aren't me but I'm d I can find something quite classic the colours did look good on me.

So thanks everyone for your ideas and adding to this thread ... I'm going to be looking out for the MN breakfast dress in July Grin

We’ve stayed in Sant Agnello many times, the walk the bottom way is much nicer, only a couple of bits with single file, than the main road. Go down Via Marion Crawford (where the Majestic Palace Hotel is) and turn left just at the Cocumella hotel and meander that way.
The Foreigner’s Club does good cocktails and spectacular views (and free loos), and Donna Sophia has some of the nicest food I’ve eaten (call them, they will pick you up in a minibus as walking is very precarious on narrow steep roads, they also run you home after). So jealous, you will have a wonderful time (if you’re at the hotel villa garden you are in for a treat - the views at breakfast are glorious).

This was my breakfast dress on a recent break and I felt great in it https://www.marksandspencer.com/linen-rich-printed-v-neck-tunic/p/clp60583095?color=WHITEMIX&prevPage=srp#intid=plpnav_pid_pg1pip15g2r1c1

linen blend but didn’t crease

That’s a lovely breakfast dressy, we were in Ischia and an Italian lady worse something v similar with a big straw floppy hat, huge dangly earrings and sunglasses. She looked amazing! Mind you she sent back her breakfast and she had waiters running after her!

Not at all, it’s part of their standard service! It’s fabulous, you’ll love the food.

Loving how on board everyone is with this concept. Not what I was expecting when I saw there were 100+ replies! Plus I've also been searching for what I know now is a Breakfast Dress so thanks for the public service OP.

I've not been looking (as my choices last year meant I'm sorted for Sicily this year ) but shopping tomorrow so keep an eye out rockstar

Believe it or not my absolute favourite last summer was from George

direct.asda.com/george/women/dresses/rust-textured-knot-front-midi-dress/GEM1069027,default,pd.html

I got black. Great thing was I wore it for 2/3 breakfasts week 1 and then for a few evenings the second week.

Actually last years holiday was a tipping point for my outfit choices/packing. I tried really hard to take things I could recycle several times so shoe choice (evenings were x 2 sandals alternated) and accessories (again x 2 sets that I just rotated) were easy.

And because I felt smart but unfussy I felt like I did a decent attempt at bending in with all the other chic ladies. And took sooooooo much less stuff.

I've ordered from time to time what I know now is a "breakfast dress" with a view to looking excellent, tried them on, thought I looked a dick and gone back to shorts t shirt and trainers. I generally accept that in a hot country I will think I look shit and fat so don't try and draw attention (I am neither fat nor do I look shit but I am not very kind to myself!).

However, that's a bit off topic but, if I were to be able to get past that, then Harper in White Lotus season 2 has some amazing outfits, lots of them seen when they breakfast. They are probably very expensive but are really lovely. Perhaps have a Google.

Great! some good suggestions already! Thank you!

I used to have such a great collection of holiday stuff unfortunately I've put weight on! ☹️
