Getting married in 2 weeks and no dress

So for various reasons my husband and I had a celebrant wedding which I hated but ticked all the boxes for everyone else….. we are now doing the legal part in secret, just the 2 of us and I am SO happy and excited - but I have nothing to wear!

My original dress was big, expensive, chosen by the kids and gave me sequin scars. I promised myself for this legal part I would wear something that made me happy….. but turns out that’s a hard brief to fill.

I’m a size 16 which huge boobs and belly. I am only 5ft 2 and hate the way I look to be honest.

I originally wanted something none bridal in a bright colour, then I was toying with jeans and trainers, and now I’m wondering if I want to wear a more boho / relaxed wedding dress seeing as I hated mine so much first time and this would be a chance to be the kind of bride I wanted to be?

Can anyone help me in any way, because at this rate I’m going to be messing up my secret special wedding that the thought of kept me going during the rubbish first wedding!

What about Nancy Mac? Beautiful colours and quite boho, plus quite special.

What’s your budget? Are you thinking white now or not?

Bluegrass22 · 03/03/2023 20:43

My sister has ordered her wedding dress from ASOS, they have loads of alternative ones, some really boho.

Dressshelp · 03/03/2023 20:46

My budget is flexible really. My first dress was £3k which is obscene, but I’m not adverse to spending about the £500 mark. That said, if it was cheaper I wouldn’t be offended!

I wasn’t sure If I had the body for asos….. I’m very round 😂

I quite liked this dress too but I’m only 40 and wasn’t sure if I’d look matronly?!

That's very pretty

I got my wedding dress from Blue Banana. I’m 5’2” and size 14, felt a million dollars in it. Got a swishy petticoat to go underneath but I’ve worn it since without and still love it

CC4712 · 03/03/2023 20:47

I'm a size 16 with large bust, and V necks always suit me best. Are you wanting a coloured dress or cream/white now? Its not clear? Budget?

That one is a bit matronly. Think you can do better. You're in your prime!

Dressshelp · 03/03/2023 20:48

Oh, and I don’t bloody know about colour! I originally wanted something sexy and lovely in any colour - sort of a wedding guest vibe, but then I got sad that I hated my first dress so much and thought I could potentially fix that mistake by wearing a relaxed wedding dress now. But is that silly?! I think I just want to feel good, and so if that’s a white dress or a rainbow dress then I don’t care!

This is lovely! Imagine the bottom dyed your favourite colour, it would be stunning

I’ve tried this dress! I think because I have big boobs and it’s got the wrong size sleeves I looked like I was huge across the chest?

Op the first monsoon dress you linked is really beautiful
and will give you the vibe you want , slightly skimming so you will feel comfortable too
congratulations!

Sunbird24 · 03/03/2023 20:55

Have you looked at the ASOS Curve dresses? Some lovely ones on there. I do love the first Monsoon one you linked to though.

quickbathroombreak · 03/03/2023 21:01

I like the Monsoon dress you linked. Im size 16/18 and 5ft3, with boobs/belly and had a similar shape, albeit sleeveless. Found it quite flattering, to my amazement!

Dressshelp · 03/03/2023 21:02

Argh, I’ve just went to buy the first one so I can atleast try it on and it’s not available in my size. Arse!!!!

Something like this?

Dressshelp · 03/03/2023 21:04

I’ll have a look at asos curve now - unless anyone can find me a dupe for the monsoon one?

@quickbathroombreak i def think it’s shape has potential to skim over the bits I’m not keen on. so hard to know without trying on though!

A little over budget but you’d definitely wear again and it’s gorgeous

Ooh I think I like the bombshell one! I KNOW I’m being picky, but would I look like im wearing curtains though?! I’m so worried that I’m going to look like I’m playing dress up?!

I love the Zimmerman one too!

I think I need to order a few to try on, as I’m running out of time now!

Lovely and I think would give your shape more structure than the original monsooon one you posted
