Daily SPF 50 that you can actually wear every day?

I've started using trentinoin at night so need to use sunscreen consistently. I never really used sunscreen before unless at the beach or something, hence a lot of sun damage.

I've tried some different brands, and never really got in the habit of wearing sunscreen daily like you're supposed to. Mostly because I didn't want to be at work etc with a white flaky film all over my face and neck.

Lately I've splashed out on a few sample sizes of better brands and they're ridiculous. The latest was £15 for a small bottle of Boots no7 advanced whatever, put it on and gave it a while to settle, ended up with again a scaly and pilly white sheen. It stings like anything too. I mean I'd wear it at the beach but I have to be presentable at work.

Any recommendations or should I just get a big hat?

I use this and don't have issues
Clarins

QueefofSheena · 02/03/2023 13:42

I use Beauty Pie SPF50 at the moment. It’s a nice lightweight formula and does the trick.

UpToonGirl · 02/03/2023 13:44

I always come back to the body shop spf 50. It does feel a little greasy when it first goes on but sinks in, I've got oily skin and it doesn't exacerbate this during the day.

wizzywig · 02/03/2023 13:45

Garnier spf 50 spray. You spray it over makeup.

KStockHERO · 02/03/2023 13:45

I used Soltan Kids SPF50. You need to stock up in the summer because its not always available over winter.

I don't find it too greasy and it absorbs well and quickly.

And its quite cheap.

MollyMunster · 02/03/2023 13:46

Biore watery essence here, it goes on beautifully and doesn’t pull.

It depends on your skin type though, might not suit very dry skin.

SheisMammyof2 · 02/03/2023 13:52

La Roche Posay Anthelios Dry Touch Gel.. SPF50, absorbs completely and is perfect under makeup.

Another vote for this. Tried several and always go back to LRP

I think you need to work out what type of foundation you want to put on top of it. So put an oil based foundation on an oil based spf/ water based on water based and that way you shouldn't get pilling.

I use Nivea spf50 which seems to be fine - it's always on offer somewhere

I use Altruist. For my face I use Altruist face fluid. No smell, sinks in well, no white cast and works under make up. And they donate a portion of their profits to charity.

WittynotPretty · 02/03/2023 13:54

Seconding La Roche except I use the tinted one and don’t bother with a base/ foundation. My skin has never been better

Delphigirl · 02/03/2023 13:55

La Roche posay Anthelios is the one all the beauty editor use and hands down the best. I prefer the lotion, pp prefers gel - they are both excellent.

SettingPrecedents · 02/03/2023 13:56

I’ve started using La Roche posay anthelios too, seems good for every day.

TreesAtSea · 02/03/2023 13:58

I use Aldi Lacura 50+ sun lotion. It's actually a cream rather than a lotion but doesn't leave my face greasy-looking.

Coffeetree · 02/03/2023 14:01

Thanks for the recommendations.

I don't wear foundation or any other makeup, hence the sunscreen would just need to look normal on my face.

I don't mind a dewy or shiny finish, just can't have the weird sheen and flakes.

I used the LRP one for ages, but recently switched to this one from Eucerin and I prefer that - www.eucerin.co.uk/products/sun-protection/oil-control-sun-gel-creme-spf-50plus

I like the sound of this. No white cast?

Seconded

Roxie99 · 02/03/2023 14:07

I have used LRP in the past. Brilliant. Ran out and bought decleor50+ and shisheido SPF 50+ both don't leave a white cast
Also Avene 30+ does not leave any marks and I'm of dark skin colour they're all brilliant!

I use La Roche Posay face mist. Easy to spray over make up to top up too.

Agree with this. I use this one - La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Invisible Fluid Spf50+ - it's three for 2 in boots. I use it every day.

This!

Altruist face fluid
Ultra Violette
Dr Sam Spf Is fab
Biore watery essence
Beauty pie wirh primer
Purito and the Korean ones from Yess Style or Stylevana are all great - no white cast

So1invictus · 02/03/2023 14:32

Garnier spf50 for the face is the best and cheapest I've used.
Biore watery essence is also great but not always easy to get hold of.
Frezyderm is an spf50 and facial primer in one.
None of these leave any kind of shine or residue.
