I've caught the ear piercing bug and can't decide what to get done next. I currently have 3 lobe on my left and 4 lobe and tragus done on my right. Looking for inspiration.
Please show me your beautiful ears ☺️

@popgoesperfection my conch didn't hurt at all and I've had that pierced 3 times 🤣 honestly doesn't hurt.

popgoesperfection · 05/09/2023 20:05

😂😂
i don't know why i'm so unsure about it, especially having piercings and tattoos already it's not like i've never had anything done 🙈

broccolibush · 05/09/2023 21:04

@popgoesperfection my conch was virtually painless too. And was pretty happy healing itself. The only drama I had was choosing an inappropriate stone for the initial jewellery - I had aquamarines that went really dull when I oozed and bled into them. I had to have the whole piece reset and move it to a high lobe.

Swiftbushome · 05/09/2023 22:05

@popgoesperfection I feel the same about a conch. I'm booked to get it done on Saturday but I'm really squeamish when I think.about it. Not sure why. I'm also planning to get my rook done at the same appointment and I don't feel weird about that one. It's something to do with that specific bit of cartilage I think

OP posts:
popgoesperfection · 06/09/2023 09:03

@Swiftbushome i agree, it's just that bit of cartilage, it feels thicker than the rest of the ear 😬

evilharpy · 06/09/2023 10:30

I think my 6mm in my helix and forward helix are ok after all, think I irritated both a bit trying to get them swapped over and they might have swollen up a bit but they're fine now!

peachgreen · 06/09/2023 11:51

My second forward helix just WILL NOT HEAL, no matter what I do. It's developed a proper piercing bump which I'm really sad about, and every time I think it's getting better it swells up again. Booooo. Going to go into the piercer next week I think – any tips in the meantime? The first one healed beautifully!

Swiftbushome · 06/09/2023 14:32

When I had a bump on my helix my piercer had me use boiled - slightly cooled but still pretty hot water on a piece of non woven gauze as a compress. Did it twice a day. It worked within a few days. Also are you making sure it's not left wet when you wash your hair? I think if you already have a bump you can't leave it wet or it gets worse. How long ago did you get it pierced?

peachgreen · 06/09/2023 15:02

I will definitely try the compress thing, thank you! Yeah I am drying it pretty carefully after showers but I have been using my saline spray and not drying, maybe I need to do that too. It was pierced in June so I suppose not THAT long ago.

I had mine done spur of the moment when I changed my mind from a third lobe. It definitely helped to no have time to think about it and it was absolutely fine. Healing not too bad so far, apart from one over enthusiastic and thus painful hug from my sister!

GenialHarryGr0ut · 06/09/2023 20:49

I dithered about my conch for ages. Kept squeezing my ear and thinking how thick it was.

My piercer said as I had a daith and helix it would be a doddle

It was Ok- but afterwards she admitted my conch was the chunkiest she had ever pierced.

Swiftbushome · 09/09/2023 16:47

Just on my the train on my way home from my appointment. Couldn't get a rook because my ear anatomy is wrong which is annoying and I didn't want a faux rook because I wear glasses and I thought it would be catch. Ending up getting a forward helix instead and actually I love it. Got a little stud with 3 teensy diamonds. I was going to get CZ but actually the diamonds were almost the same price!!
Also got my conch done on the same side. I was super squeamish about it before but honestly it was totally fine. Hurt a bit more than the forward helix but I think that was basically just because it was the second one done in 1 sitting.
Actually the worst thing about the whole appointment was the heat. I was sweating before I even went in and I always get the last minute panic sweat just before my piercing lady stabs me. So yeah. I'm a bit of a sweaty mess now. But at least a sweaty mess with pretty ears 😆

Congrats @Swiftbushome! I have a forward helix and conch in the same ear and love the combo. You didn’t say what jewellery you got in the conch…?

Swiftbushome · 10/09/2023 07:19

Oh yeah. It's a little gold marquise fan. It's really pretty but I want a ring there eventually so the fan will probably be relegated to a lobe

That sounds gorgeous. Any chance of a photo?

I would quite like a conch but think it would impact my ability to wear in-ear headphones at least till it healed and I don't think I could cope without them!

peachgreen · 10/09/2023 11:49

My piercer won’t pierce with anything other than a plain ball which makes me a bit sad. Although given I’m still dealing with a bump two months on, I guess I should be grateful for that!

Swiftbushome · 10/09/2023 12:36

@peachgreen don't suppose you're near London are you? If so check out Sacred Gold, that's where I go. They pierce with BVLA stuff it's lovely. I'm out at the pool today (not getting my ear wet don't worry!) With the kids. I'll post a pic later 😊

MintIcecreams · 10/09/2023 13:20

@Swiftbushome sounds gorgeous, I love BVLA. You have made me feel confident about getting a conch now. I like the sound of your forward helix too.

I saw my piercer on Friday about the ball that keeps coming off my rook bar and also had my helix ring changed to a stud. It turns out he can order in lots of lovely jewelley so I've asked him to get me something lovely from Junipurr! I just need to decide where I want to put it now.

peachgreen · 10/09/2023 14:02

Alas no I’m in NI! Will check out BVLA though, all of mine besides my second forward helix are ready to be changed.

Swiftbushome · 10/09/2023 16:13

Showing off my 2 additions 😊

Those are gorgeous! I love the one in your conch.

popgoesperfection · 10/09/2023 20:48

ooh fab @Swiftbushome !!
I think i'm definitely going to get my conch done. i've made my mind up. my piercer only pierces with plain balls too @peachgreen 😢

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/09/2023 20:53

Oooooh you're inspiring me to get another piercing .
Not a conch , I rip my facemasks off like Dr Kildaire so I'f probably snag it .
I'd love a rook , I;m sure one or t'other of my ears will oblige !

I did have problems with my forward helix a while back , I couldn't feel the back and thought it had come off but DD checked and it was there but my ear was swollen. I thought I'd need to go back to the piercer but I have having my car tyres replaced the next day .
So muslin cloth , hot (boiled) salty water and managed to clear the infection without losing my piercing , my tyres were done and didn't have to see the piercer . Or my GP who would've tutted and done the what were you thinking face .

nosepierce · 11/09/2023 15:04

my first cartilage piercing - i'm not sure of the location but i did agree to it. somehow i thought it could go slightly higher but piercer did say my ear has a curly edge and would be obscured. i also didnt want really thick cartilage pierced, so lower?

now i'm doing the usual - obsessing AFTER 😂the event and scouring instagram looking at helix placements!
