I've caught the ear piercing bug and can't decide what to get done next. I currently have 3 lobe on my left and 4 lobe and tragus done on my right. Looking for inspiration.
Please show me your beautiful ears ☺️

I have a tragus (not got a forward helix so can't help there) and honestly I've never caught it on anything ever. It's been a super easy healer. I think a helix - at least an outer one is much more likely to get caught in your brush or at the hairdresser's

I caught my forward helix in one ear all the time to start with but not the other so maybe the earring shape. I soon learnt...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/08/2023 21:39

I'm joining you all if that's ok .

I have :
lobes done at 13yo then had an allergic reaction so had to let them heal
Re=pierced at 15yp
2nd lobe in left ear at 18yo

Maybe years later I had my left daith , titanium hoop over 18 months now
Then in March got the right forward helix.
I haven't changed either of these , the daith has healed nicely but the forward helix is still ongoing ,

I'd like a 3rd lobe piercing in the right but it's cartiligide-y rather than lobe so it'll take a while to heal .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/08/2023 23:42

Anyone who has healed cartilidge piercings , how often do you change them?
I don't even change by lobe studs more than once a week ( I can only wear studs at work though the daith is a hoop its hidden)

My daith is getting up to 2 years in Dec, I thought I'd be rushing back to pick something new before now but not done yet

Swiftbushome · 22/08/2023 21:35

@70isaLimitNotaTarget sorry i can't really answer that. My cartilage piercings are only 5 and 6 months old so haven't been changed yet. I am planning to though. I want to switch out my stud for a ring in my helix.

Very rarely.
Changed my daith once since it was done.

Occasionally change my helix/forward helix and rook - really struggle to get that bugger out.
Conch is still healing. Once it's done I'll
probably buy something I love and put that in and leave it.

I got my helix and forward helix in March. I've kept the bars in bought bought a couple of new labrets and just changed the fronts a couple of times (they are interchangeable).

BatwomansRevenge · 24/08/2023 19:06

I have a couple of piercings with internally threaded jewellery that I never change because they're so fiddly and one of them is a thicker gauge than any of the others so they're not really interchangable. The rest are push-in ends that I can change easily without even taking the labret out. But given the cost of nice body jewellery, I don't have a huge collection anyway!

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 24/08/2023 19:14

Can you change the threadless ones regularly? I would love to get some really nice threadless ones but I was worried they were too fragile for frequent changes.

BatwomansRevenge · 24/08/2023 19:41

I don't have enough different ones to change them often, and most of them look better in a particular piercing. But a piercer broke an expensive gold one when doing a downsize for me once, so I'd say they can definitely be fragile!

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 24/08/2023 19:43

Ooh ok, maybe I had better stick to titanium!

Swiftbushome · 26/08/2023 11:41

I've just booked an appointment for 9th September to get my rook and conch pierced! Am very excited 😆

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 26/08/2023 13:41

How exciting! I absolutely love my rook, it's been no trouble at all. I want a conch!

FunkyMonks · 26/08/2023 13:52

Ohh they are the best ones love my rook and conch think they complement each other. 😊

evilharpy · 03/09/2023 10:29

People with a helix or forward helix, can I ask what bar length you have please? I've just downsized mine from the ones I've had in since I got them pierced and used 6mm as that's all I had, but think it's a bit snug in the forward helix but not sure if 8mm might be a bit long.

FunkyMonks · 03/09/2023 14:03

Hi @evilharpy I'm unsure what bar length mine is as I had mine downsized with the piercer after about 6 weeks mines snug but told it's suppose to be flush to reduce irritation and for it not to end up crooked.
I can see the bar if I push it forward so the back is flush against the skin but if I don't can't really see a lot.

Hopefully someone else will pop along shortly with more info.

Girlwithapple · 03/09/2023 16:36

@evilharpy I have a triple forward helix, I have hoops now but when I downsized the labrets I had 6mm in the top 2 but the bottom 1 I needed an 8mm as it was thicker cartilage.

popgoesperfection · 04/09/2023 21:27

how's everyone's new piercings doing? i haven't posted for a while, the pain in the arse helix is finally healed, i'm going to order a new hoop and attempt to switch it from the bar. i'm eager to get my thirds done soon then i'm planning on a conch i think.

Pickingmyselfup · 04/09/2023 22:00

I had to take one of my helix's out, it was so sore and I just got to the point where I snapped and took it out. The other is playing up a bit but nothing like the bad one so I'm willing to give it longer.

My industrial is still not quite right, it's not as sore as my helix was but it has lumps on that I'm struggling to get rid of.

My daith is up and down, I tried to change it a couple of weeks ago but it bled so much and it's still a bit too sore. It keeps scabbing and bleeding!

My conch I think I can say is officially healed! I changed the hoop and I can see right through the hole. It's not sore, not bleeding so I think I'm there!

My tragus is the newest and doing OK, needs a bit of babying or it gets sore and bleeds.

Next on the list is a rook in my ear with the helix, conch and tragus, a conch in the ear with the industrial and daith (way down the list because my fake one works perfectly. Then I would like to get my 3rds redone when everything else has properly settled down.

I'm also planning on another tattoo but the one I had in mind is too expensive so I might change it but don't know what to.

Swiftbushome · 04/09/2023 22:02

My tragus is fully healed now I think at 6 months, my helix is about 5.5 months and has bled randomly a little bit the last couple of days which is annoying. Doesn't hurt though so I'm not worried really. I think maybe I caught it in my sleep or something.
Have a booking to get a rook and conch done on the other side on Saturday.
I really want to switch the helix stud for a hoop but after the bleeding I think I'm going to wait another couple of months now.

MintIcecreams · 05/09/2023 08:53

My helix that I got in May is still being sore and swollen. I think it will be a long time before I can change it.

My rook that I got done recently has been pretty much trouble free, which is great. It hurts a bit behind my ear if I catch it with my sunglasses but other than that no problems. I want a conch next but that will have to wait until after my holiday next month. Also now considering a tragus!

FunkyMonks · 05/09/2023 14:05

My room so far has been the least problematic of my piercings it's 6 months old my helix I did have an issue a while back and from time to time can feel sore if I've accidentally slept on it but that's now 7 months old I'm hoping by beginning of Jan to change that from labret to a hoop but giving that 5- 6 months before fiddling with it same with my rook I'll give that another 6 months before I look to change jewellery.

My conch is a whole different story and I love it so much it just doesn't seem to want to settle and heal 🤦🏻‍♀️ this is my third bloody attempt with having this piercing it's got a little lump at the back and bled the other day it's not painful or sore so I'm hanging on with it hoping that it will eventually settle and heal otherwise if this doesn't work then I'll have to admit defeat and realise it's just not meant to be.

Would love to have some flat piercings in the other ear but at moment I'm booked in for tattoo end of month and to be fair I think I just want to be able to enjoy going swimming with my kids without waiting months on end for a piercing to heal.

I had my double forward helix downsized yesterday. Helpfully the measurements on my receipt are in inches but the top is 3/16” (just under 5mm according to google) and the bottom is 7/32” (5.5mm ish).

I think this is me done. My ears look nicely balanced I think and I suspect my next adornment will be another tattoo. They’re much easier to heal than bastard cartilage piercings 😂

MintIcecreams · 05/09/2023 19:25

Anyone have any tips on getting the balls on rook piercings? Mine fell off this afternoon and I just couldn't put it back on. My DH managed to get it on with pliers but it was a bit traumatic! Bit worried about losing it.

popgoesperfection · 05/09/2023 19:46

how did everyone with a conch find the piercing when they got it done? i'm really wanting it done (after my thirds) but the thought of the needle going through that bit of cartilage is making me 😬 a bit.
