I've caught the ear piercing bug and can't decide what to get done next. I currently have 3 lobe on my left and 4 lobe and tragus done on my right. Looking for inspiration.
Please show me your beautiful ears ☺️

Anyone had any more piercings done recently? I'm still having a nightmare with mine.

I had to take on of my helix's out, initially the top one was flaring up, it got better with attention then the bottom one started playing up. I got fed up after a few weeks of it and just took it out. Got them both done end of Aigust last year.

My conch was fine but now I'm starting to feel it. It's not sore, not bleeding or oozing but I'm just a bit conscious it's there. Also got that done end of August last year.

My tragus has also been acting up, a bit tender and itchy and it's bleeding a bit inside. Got that done May this year.

My industrial has hideous lumps on every entry site, it was bleeding and the last week it's been tbrobbing. Got that done March this year.

My daith has also been bleeding! That's been done coming up to 2 years and it still won't settle. Every now again it brings itself to my attention, I clean it for a bit, it settles down, I stop with the cleaning and after a while it flares up.

What is wrong with me?? Why can't I heal piercings but tattoos are fine and I can have 2 babies cut out of me with no healing problems either!!!

I'm tired of having sore ears 😪

Swiftbushome · 09/08/2023 21:02

Oh god that sounds awful. Why don't you go ask a piercer for advice. Could it be a metal allergy maybe?
I haven't had anything done since March but I'm getting my conch and rook done next month. Also contemplating a nostril piercing. Not completely sure on that yet though.

No new piercings trying to let the three I've got heal which is my helix had for 7 months now did have an issue with it a while back seems to have settled again and only hurts if my conch is playing up.
My rook which is 6 months and my conch which would have also been 7 months but had to have re done through my own fault is almost 4 months.

My conch is the one that causes me issues and to be honest if this doesn't heal by end of the year I'll give up on it altogether myself as one of those piercings that don't heal no matter what whether it's because I find it difficult to clean the back properly as I've had it downsized so the back is flush etc.

Easiest piercing I've had was my septum no issues been over a year now and love changing that jewellery for that.
I really hope that I can change my helix one by time Christmas is here and then again with my rook beginning of next year.
The conch we shall wait and see 🤣.
@Pickingmyselfup is it perhaps caused my sleeping on the ear mine can be sore the following morning if I've slept on that ear by accident also making sure the ear is dry so no build up of sweat can help them from not getting irritated.
I find drying my ear with hairdryer after shower helps as well to ensure no moisture is around the piercings.

Pickingmyselfup · 09/08/2023 22:27

We don't think it's an allergy because I've had implant grade titanium cause me issues, I can wear anything in my first 2 lobes with no issues.

I don't sleep on them, I've been sleeping on a travel pillow for pretty much the past year. My last piercer said it was likely just a rejection and they may never fully heal so I have to decide how much I can cope with.

FunkyMonks · 09/08/2023 22:37

Could you perhaps take out majority and see if just having one will allow that to fully heal and then try again but wait until fully healed perhaps there's too much going on and your body is struggling and going into overdrive causing them to reject?

I know I won't be rushing to have another piercing until the current lot are fully healed that and I honestly hate the long wait of not being able to go swimming etc.

It's horrible I know I've never been able to have my tragus heal and have tried that one over three times just was always getting bumps and the forward helix that never healed with me either same issues bumps and sore painful.

As I said it's my conch at moment and this is a third attempt with this one so if this doesn't work that's it I'm not attempting that ever again just make my peace with knowing that's another type my body just doesn't like and won't allow to heal.

MintIcecreams · 10/08/2023 08:29

Sorry to hear about all the sore piercings. My three month old helix has settled down for now but it seems to be fine for a few days and then flare up again. My two month old nostril is upset again too, no idea why.

I'm thinking of getting my rook done this weekend. My piercer has appointments...

I can't take any out apart from my 2 lobes otherwise they will heal up. Just going to try get them to settle down and hope for the best.

I got myself a fake nose ring to see if I liked it but I think it looks stupid! It looks better on my left side than my right which I never knew was a thing but I don't think it looks right on me 😔

Weird how we all react differently to piercings. My tragus has been the best one despite the current wobbles, I don't usually knock it accidentally and it's never been really sore.

My conch was the first one to start acting up out of the 3 I had done at once but it has settled down now and doesn't actually hurt, it's just feeling different.

I've got another tattoo lined up when I've got more money, in the process of figuring out how big and want I want but I'm thinking something along the lines of a moon, stars and lightning bolts.

nosepierce · 10/08/2023 09:03

Just had my auricles pierced and it is tender!

It's my first cartilage area piercing and i'm seeing how this heals before thinking about thicker cartilage areas pierced. Would love a rook piercing.

Cartilage piercings seem to be very hit and miss in terms of how they heal in the first 12 months, so this thread has been very helpful in managing my expectations.

Have really enjoyed looking at the photos on this thread.

MintIcecreams · 10/08/2023 09:06

@nosepierce that looks great! I was thinking of doing this but the cartilage in that part of my ears is weird and I was worried it would be right on the edge of it and wouldn't work.

nosepierce · 10/08/2023 09:07

I also pierced my nostril 2 months ago. it had a very good run of being calm and happy for about a month but for last month off and on, it's been knocked a couple of times and had some minor irritation bumps which last a few days.

evilharpy · 10/08/2023 09:35

The helix and forward helix I had done back in March have now healed really well, despite a bit of bother with the helix. I can sleep on them again but am still mostly sleeping on a neck pillow out of habit, I need to wean myself off it.

Wondering if I need a downsize for both of them, there seems to be quite a lot of spare "stalk". What post size do people have?

FunkyMonks · 10/08/2023 11:54

@evilharpy I don't know about the post size but my piercer had me go back 6-8 weeks after having mine pierced at first to then downsize is it worth popping back to the shop you had them done and getting them to change them over for you?

MintIcecreams · 12/08/2023 15:42

Question for those on here - does a rook hurt much for the rest of the day after piercing? Wondering if getting it on my lunch break would be a bad idea.

Mine was fine. Stung a bit as it was being done but pain free afterwards.
I'd have been fine to have it done on a lunch break

FunkyMonks · 12/08/2023 18:54

@MintIcecreams painful for me having it done but once it was done was fine just felt warm and slightly throbbed afterwards which was to be expected but didn't stop me getting on with rest of the day 😊

MintIcecreams · 12/08/2023 18:55

Thanks both. I keep missing out on appointments, this place is popular. Hope I can get one for Monday. Excited!

Swiftbushome · 14/08/2023 18:24

Hey @MintIcecreams did you get it done? How was it?

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 14/08/2023 18:37

I did it! I love it so much, it might be my favourite piercing. Barely hurt.

Oh, it's me, mint. I namechanged 😁

Swiftbushome · 14/08/2023 18:43

Yay!! Looks fabulous! I'm planning to get mine next month too. Glad to hear it didn't hurt. Congratulations

MintIcecreams · 14/08/2023 18:44

Thanks! Good luck with yours! Honestly, I was expecting it to hurt much more. It hurt less than my helix.

freetheunicorn1 · 14/08/2023 19:26

Crap photo, my tragic is quite new and I knocked it the other day so a little red. I think maybe a high lobe then back to the other ear.

I used to have a few ear piercings when I was young but it was considered unprofessional then and I got fed up either hiding or taking out but found the bug again!

Looks great. I love your forward helix especially 😀

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 14/08/2023 20:24

Very pretty, love the jewellery. Do you catch the forward helix and tragus when brushing your hair? I had ruled them out because I'm clumsy but they look so nice.
