Those old make up brands that have gone- a bit of fun for the oldies.

I was thinking today how many old brands have gone.

I remember buying my first 'real' foundation in a dept store when I was about 15. The store was the House of Fraser group. I bought Yardley foundation and my Mum came along with me to look at the shades. It was in a turquoise tube, not unlike the packaging now of some Clinique products.

The others I used were
Outdoor Girl
Miners
Mary Quant ( a real treat as it was expensive.)

Me and my friends used to spend ages on Saturdays in Woolies looking at Outdoor Girl and Miners.

I used to love a tiny pot of Miners lip gloss.

I remember Arabian glow, the glow sticks came in 2 shades and they could be used as a multi stick. I had the Colour Trend (?) lipstick in Iced Champink. I loved am Avon book. I still could look through one for hours. So many great deals.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/01/2023 13:32

I wanted Arabian Glow SO badly , I used to haze at the Avon book night after night wishing I had enough pocket money to get it. Happy days 😊

Tribe? I had Tribe, green and purple bottle.

I had some powder colour ball thingies in a round tub- pink/green/'pearl/gold - dip the brush in and it's meant to give you the perfect colour plus neutralising red .
IIRC BodyShop ?

forageintheforest · 19/01/2023 23:04

The first foundation I used was called face base in the 1960's. It gave that all over pale look that was so Twiggy everyone wanted to look like. My perfume was L'imprevu by Coty. I wish I could find it again.
Dewberry by Body Shop was a favourite later.

You are too young for this thread :)
I was buying Prescriptives in my 30s.

Me too!

Maireas · 20/01/2023 07:26

Evette from Woolworths - pale blue frosted eye shadow
Miners - pale pink frosted lipstick (I'm sensing a theme)
California Girl mascara - seemed impossibly glamorous to put on during a long cold winter with strikes and a fuel crisis (also a theme)
Charlie perfume.

caramelcustard · 20/01/2023 11:07

Dorothy Grey Cleansing Grains.
Entice solid perfume by Goya,
Fields French Pink talc.
Coloured mascara - navy , khaki etc. I used to wear maroon mascara with yellow eye shadow - what was I thinking!

Henera Henna
Shampoo and Conditioner is tall eliptical shaped bottles (smelled lovely)
And the tubs of henna wax that you applied and were meant to wrap hot wrung out towels on your head because it needed damp heat not dry heat ( clingfilm and a turbiewrap is much easier)

WhoppingBigBackside · 20/01/2023 12:01

Camomile shampoo in a big bottle with IIRC a green lid
Creme Silt, Sunsilk and Silvikrin shampoos

Really bad screenshot of an old and for it from Pinterest

I'm sure they still had lemon delph in the late 80s as I was given a bottle when I was about 11 or 12.

WhoppingBigBackside · 20/01/2023 12:16

Silk not Silt

justasking111 · 20/01/2023 15:12

Blonde friends bought Sun in?? Was it. Squeezing 🍋 juice and combing through was an acceptable alternative. Then cardboard covered in tin foil to enhance a tan 🙈

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/01/2023 15:44

Every time I open this thread I get a blast of nostalgia! What about Flex shampoo and conditioner, that smelled absolute divine. No idea why they stopped producing that. Also 17 Twilight Teaser lipstick. It didn't suit a single soul but we all wore it! I paired it with electric blue mascara 😆

I remember Evette! I think the first ever Make-up I bought was a pale blue Evette eyeshadow.

Wasn’t that superceded by Tu?

PAFMO · 20/01/2023 16:13

My first eyeshadow was Evette powder blue as well!

nettie434 · 20/01/2023 19:28

Evette eyeshadow! How could I have forgotten that. I had some Lemon Delph cleanser and toner. The clear glass and simple label would make it look modern today but they felt like you were removing the top layer of skin.

Deathraystare · 21/01/2023 17:00

@caramelcustard I

I remember a perfume from Dorothy Gray! Was it Midnight or something and the Satura face cream. No! Memorie Cherie perfume. It was lovely!

Deathraystare · 21/01/2023 17:01

@ChaToilLeam

Yes 1st Evette then Tu as I mentioned in my post. Tu had some great colours!

Deathraystare · 21/01/2023 17:02

Creme Silt, Sunsilk and Silvikrin shampoos

Yes I remember these!

Deathraystare · 21/01/2023 17:07

@AllAboutMargot
I remember Aqua Manda and Acqu Citra. Also remember Innoxa - thanks for that. I was so stupid and reckoned I had raging acne (I had an occasional period spot) and made mum got me solution 41 (in a dark blue bottle). Blimey that stuff could strip paint. Eventually went on to their skin solution was that wasn't as strong!

Deathraystare · 21/01/2023 17:09

@ChaToilLeam
Thanks for the Rimmel advert. I remember the blush stick. I eventually got one (probably in totally the wrong colour) and probably didn't apply it properly!

Deathraystare · 21/01/2023 17:19

@Sparkletastic ·
Oriflame! The height of sophistication to me as an 80s teen.

God yes! By catalogue like Avon. I remember a foundation I had which had a shimmer in it. And their Royal Velvet cream
