Will the white trainers look still be in this spring/summer?

I don’t wear white chunky trainers as I don’t suit the dress and trainers look and am probably too old for it anyway. I did wear white Superga trainers with jeans/trousers the last couple of summers although I seem to remember they are seen as old-fashioned on here.

I was wondering what footwear was going to be in instead? Or any new 2023 fashion looks in general we can look forward to?

Are white trainers seen as unfashionable?
I actually don't remember what I wore before. Probably ballet pumps! That was the noughties.. maybe they're coming back in?!

NothingButSpace · 14/01/2023 21:03

The Superga trainers are more like flat lace-up pumps but the big white chunky trainers have been popular for a long time. I was wondering if they are still in?

Oh.. I wear supergas but the leather ones.. I would have thought they were still in. Interested in the answer now!

I’ve got some white Stan Smiths and am not planning on stopping wearing them.

Wallowingwendy · 14/01/2023 21:05

I'm seeing a lot of boat shoes

NothingButSpace · 14/01/2023 21:09

I saw a lot of big clumpy gladiator sandals around last summer. Maybe I should invest in a pair of those.

I think white trainers will always be a classic look! Boat shoes are comfy and definitely becoming more popular (I'm just dusting off my old Todds), but I think white trainers will always be a go to.

nzeire · 14/01/2023 21:26

BOAT SHOES?!

JustForABitofFun · 14/01/2023 21:27

Just stick with Converse. You can't go wrong!

AnotherNameChangeYes · 14/01/2023 22:06

I don’t have a boat.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 14/01/2023 22:10

I e got white superstar's and white Nike air force with green on them so I'm still wearing them

PaulRobinsonsSeventhWife · 14/01/2023 22:22

I think this is starting to look a little tired, especially the dress & white trainers combo (with the ubiquitous denim jacket - it's a real uniform now). I love my Stan Smiths so not being snobbish about it but will be looking for an alternative come the spring.

NothingButSpace · 14/01/2023 22:40

I just had to Google boat shoes. I’ve never worn them but they look comfortable!

I really hope the dress / white trainers/ denim jacket look is over as I'm not a fan

Onnabugeisha · 14/01/2023 22:47

If it’s 1991 they will be!

A white trainer can never not be in 🤷🏻‍♀️

LadyVictoriaSponge · 14/01/2023 23:05

Hopefully the flowery dress/denim Jacket/biker jacket and trainers is over, yes it has become a ubiquitous uniform.

UnbearableLoss · 14/01/2023 23:14

The 90s resurgence has not gone away so get ahead of the curve and invest in some jelly sandles

Wiennetta · 14/01/2023 23:57

I think the white trainers and dress look peaked already and has been on its way out for a couple of summers. Last summer I started to see more colourful trainers rather than just white.

This year - ballet flats? Jelly shoes? Pointed flats?

I’m sure trainers will still be around but it might be retro style trainers, New Balance 550s, hiking chunky trainers.

Niftythrifter · 15/01/2023 02:40

Jelly shoes? Surely not! Sweaty feet ahoy! Just stick with what you like OP in the summer as let’s face it we hardly get a summer in the UK so you might as well enjoy it by wearing what you love.

Underminer · 15/01/2023 02:49

Toms seem to be in round here on the slightly warmer days. Not my style, but interesting to see teen friends of my son are buying them.

Mercurial123 · 15/01/2023 05:54

Supergas are classic and not the most fashionable. I bought my first pair 25 years ago. They've been around a long time.

BHRK · 15/01/2023 08:17

I can’t bear dresses and white trainers, I think it looks rubbish.
however, classics leather white trainers with slim leg jeans or slim chinos will always look classic I think

AnotherNameChangeYes · 15/01/2023 08:25

I love the dresses and trainers look, can wear a nice dress and still be able to chase after the kids and have comfy feet. Unlike ballet flats where you can practically feel the pavement. Thank god I don’t wear those anymore.

BCBird · 15/01/2023 08:33

I bought myself some white trainers at 51 and combined with dresses-loved it. My partner said he didn't think he liked the look- this was before I bought them. Told him.i did🤣 will be wearing the combo until I get fed up. Don't give a stuff if they are in or not.
