just that really! What have you had that has made a real difference, what have you had that you thought never again

OP posts:
MintyFreshOne · 03/01/2023 17:08

Positive experiences:

Hydrafacial
Microneedle (reduced scarring)
Obagi vitamin C 10% serum (probably the best serum I’ve used, for me better than the pricier skinceuticals one)

I used IPL to get rid of freckles and other sun damage, and haven’t needed to go back after the initial few courses, as it did what it was supposed to do

Meh:

CO2 laser (decent results but not worth the downtime)
Retinol (my skin reacts horribly to it, sadly)

katesbushh · 03/01/2023 17:43

@jibbe it depends on how much of a problem area. For very fine lines and minor acne scarring you'd see improvement with 3.
More severe scarring etc I'd recommend 5/6.

I would have a couple of sessions a year to keep up the refreshed look.
You could consider an at home pen once you've tackled the initial problem but you'd have to do it more than twice as the pens used at home are more superficial.

SparkleFromWithin · 04/01/2023 04:20

Can I ask if anyone has experience of microneedling at the skïn clinics? I've had three sessions and I did t notice much difference on my acne scars. Wondering if their needling is the deep kind mentioned or if I just need to have more sessions.

DuncanBiscuits · 04/01/2023 20:42

Right, I’ve booked ombré brows and a hydrafacial on the back of this thread.

I’m going to look damn good for my bankruptcy hearing.

newfriend05 · 04/01/2023 21:05

I'm in my 50s and I rate profhilo , Botox and micro needling was a game changer for me .. also love midik8 Products

HashBrownandBeans · 04/01/2023 21:14

Tear trough filler. It’s amazing

jibbe · 04/01/2023 22:57

What benefits did you see from micro needling?

OP posts:
AbsolutePixels · 05/01/2023 01:31

Spray tan
Blow dry

Tickledpickle · 05/01/2023 07:29

I also bleach my teeth every 6 months or so

ihatethecold · 07/01/2023 08:21

How much have you paid for hydrafacials?
there’s an offer locally to me with £50 off but it’s still quite expensive.

Wagsandclaws · 07/01/2023 09:08

I'm also going to go against the grain, I'm 51 and had never tried profilo before despite using Botox and fillers.

I had my second session about 2 months ago and it's given me the most glowy skin I've ever had. I've put a before and after photo. The lighting is slightly different but if you zoom in my under eye wrinkles have improved dramatically where it has spread as well as my whole face looking plumper.

@JustFrustrated I recently bought a lip duo from by Terry, it's got a scrub and the rose lip balm in and it's really lovely as well as being extremely hydrating it was on offer too!

@jibbe I too have been using the perricone cold cream on my neck and décolleté and it's fantastic. Skin looks smoother and seems plumper, not cheap but worth it.

@DuncanBiscuits try the revitalash for eyebrows. Mine used to be quite thin but are much thicker now ( although still get the odd white hair Hmm). Laminating is a good shout as well, it makes a huge difference in conjunction with threading to tidy them up.

I agree entirely with using a medical professional. My practitioner is a qualified Dr and I really trust him. I've been using him for 4 years now and he's absolutely brilliant .

As a topical treatment I've recently discovered, which I use in conjunction with the Md perricone cold plasma cream - Bioeffect EGF serum and it's been a complete game changer for me. My skin is pretty ok for 51 anyway due to the profilo but I tried this and the results are gorgeous. I wouldn't be without it now.

Sorry meant to add I'm
Make free in both pics. My skin isn't perfect but I'm so pleased as to how much I've turned it around in the last couple of years from what it was.

DuncanBiscuits · 07/01/2023 09:25

I had ombré brows done yesterday! Delighted with the results.

Isabelle70 · 07/01/2023 09:29

I have been having Botox for the last 5 years since 46 to mainly sort the 11's.

But the best treatment by far is Dermatica,I wish I found this 25 years ago.
I have rosacea and have been using Dermatica for nearly a year my skin has never looked so good.
No more constant pustules and swelling in the chin area, overall the redness has reduced and to me I would class my skin colouration as normal.
I still find it really strange looking in the mirror as the person looking back isn't the face I know for all these years no more redness and constant spots and my skin texture is so smooth. I have a code if anyone is interested in trying.

I also absolutely love the Venn vitamin B cream from the Liberty advent calendar and will be buying more.

Reading with interest, I'm 60 and my current skincare isn't really working.
I need a recommendation of a decent SPF and vitamin C serum as I'm about to start some retinol.

Any suggestions?

Lemonyfuckit · 07/01/2023 10:33

DuncanBiscuits · 01/01/2023 09:35

Subtle fillers. It’s like a miracle. Paid a fortune, worth every penny.

Also Botox.

Completely agree. I have a thorough skin care regime which helps, I do facial massage which definitely makes a difference but honestly nothing has really made me look as refreshed, rested and taken a few years off as subtle Botox and fillers does.

I started on the geek and gorgeous C glow this week. Seems to be helping already. Just a little.

I do really like the sunday Riley ceo serum oil. But it’s quite pricey and takes a while to sink in. I saw really quick results with this. but I am going to stick with C glow for a while and see long term.

I use Skin and me for tret (retinol) it’s made my skin feel smoother but no visible results but retinols take months rather than weeks to see results. I have been using it about 6 weeks.

I am still in the hunt for a face spf. Dd says glossiers is good. So trying that one next

weleasewoderick23 · 07/01/2023 11:13

@Snippedasababy

Thanks for your reply. I've looked at the geek and gorgeous site and ordered the vitamin C serum.
Thanks!

Yes: Rapidlash for lash growth

No: castor oil for lash growth

Charl1009 · 07/01/2023 14:49

@weleasewoderick23 @Snippedasababy i have been using La Roche-Posay Anthelios invisible fluid SPF 50 for the last few months and can’t fault it. It is very runny and water like so can be a struggle to apply it at first but it leaves no white marks, isn’t greasy and my make up applies over it lovely.

Grandmistress991 · 07/01/2023 18:07

Drdrayzday on youtube is a US dermatologist and is always good for recommendations tips etc in all price brackets. What's hype and what's effective. She is a bit kooky but great.

MintyFreshOne · 07/01/2023 18:18

I highly rate the Japanese style sunscreens. The application is a dream, it is thin and silky and quickly absorbed into the skin, leaving a nice matte finish. Currently using Shiseido Urban Environment but they have a more budget line with Anessa that pretty much applies the same (the finish is a bit less matte iirc)

Lndnmummy · 07/01/2023 19:46

Oh I just thought of another one. Keratin Silk blowdry. No more bad hairdays

dhfoody47 · 07/01/2023 19:53

Any votes for IPL photofacial?
Thanks 🌻

I had a good experience with IPL and it got rid of freckles and other pigmentation.

It’s resolved the issue so thoroughly that I haven’t had a session in years, I get other stuff done nowadays
