Thread for anyone who has the LiB 2022 advent calendar and would like to discuss contents.

In line with the waifs and strays thread I suggest no earlier than 7am for discussing that days contents? Also if we can try to minimise naming the contents still to come as I've tried to forget!

Happy opening!

So glad they didn’t go for the full size scalp scrub by this brand! Much prefer a leave in conditioner, happy with this

KimmySchmitt · 22/12/2022 08:13

Woops, I was thinking Minogue...

Another really good-sized hair product, the Christophe Robin leave in conditioner. I've googled this and it looks like it repairs split ends and can be used for heat protection so thinking it's similar to the Aveda Botanical Repair? Which I'm quite happy with.

Also happy with today!

Happy with today's, 50ml First Aid Beauty hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid. It's a really good size and I'll definitely use it. I've had the cleanser from this brand before and hated the smell, but don't expect I'll have that issue with this.

I've really enjoyed this calendar - there are very few, if any, products I won't use. The blowdry spray and the lipgloss are the only duds for me and I'll still be able to use them.

Same here. I tried the leave on conditioner yesterday and I think it might be too much for my fine hair as looked great at first but felt quite greasy later on . I will try it again maybe with less product but I have loved this calendar. So many really useful products and fab sizes

Jumbojem · 23/12/2022 23:31

I've really enjoyed this calendar too, what with the free beauty box I got with it, I now have quite a stash of hair and beauty products.
Happy with today's serum, we haven't had something like this so far and I have used first aid beauty products in the past, but not this one.
I also used the Christophe Robin product on my hair and think I used too much. Might need to use it just on mid length and ends, it's made my roots far too sticky feeling.

Zoetrope1 · 24/12/2022 01:10

I’m also happy with today. I love this brand (their ultra repair cream is amazing) and I’ll get good use out of a hyaluronic serum

Still loving everything here too! Except the lip gloss / key chain which was a dud for me and went straight into DDs stocking.

totally agree that with the beauty box this is such good value. So much better than the space nk calendar I had last year.

Lurkingshark · 24/12/2022 06:59

pleased with the serum from yesterday- I’m unimpressed with a 111skin serum ( for the RRP) and I like this brand so will be nice to compare. I used to use a Vichy one which I liked.

I’ve opened today and tomorrow as I’m too excited and worked it out. I’ve really enjoyed this one- pretty much right mix of skincare/ perfume/make up/etc. I’m not a haircare person but recognise that others are so will shoulder that burden 🤣.

choosing next years is going to be hard!

Zoetrope1 · 24/12/2022 07:08

Also happy with today!

What it is:

A highly active cleanser with a trio of exfoliating acids and jojoba skin-polishing beads to revitalise skin.

What it does:

AHA/BHA Cleanser revitalises skin by gently exfoliating and polishing away dullness. Three exfoliating agents—salicylic acid, lactic acid, and glycolic acid—reveal younger-looking skin by loosening buildup on skin’s surface. Jojoba beads polish away debris, dryness, and roughness while moisturising agent sodium PCA attracts water to the skin to help it retain plumpness and elasticity needed to function as a strong, healthy barrier.

How to:

Massage a small amount over damp face and neck. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

@Lurkingshark agreed it’s going to be hard to choose next year. And I’m guessing we won’t have as many great deals available

Lurkingshark · 24/12/2022 07:21

@Zoetrope1 I know. It will be interesting next year to see which places either don’t offer them or don’t discount.

Luckily this year has vaguely convinced DH that these big boxes that can very good value so I live in hope that a Liberty one will magically turn up anyway.

thabks for posting the pics by the way! I know I have them but it’s nice to see them on the thread for some reason!

Ohdear7 · 24/12/2022 10:54

Really pleased with today’s Murad, such a good size! I saw a YouTuber, planningwithCrystal I think, say this is good for uneven skin texture on back of arms / legs too.

Also decided to open tomorrows now in peace, it’ll be mayhem tomorrow morning when DS4 & DS5 realise Santa has been! I love it, very chic looking imo.

I’ve really enjoyed this calendar, I’m into hair care so lots of products are my cup of tea. Agree only real dud was lip gloss. I’d definitely consider another one next year, although I’d prefer a more festive box but appreciate lots of people like simpler designs. Oh and I’d have preferred a full size mascara to an eyeliner.

Zoetrope1 · 24/12/2022 14:42

@Ohdear7 I love Planning with Crystal! She’s the best beauty unboxer by far and I can’t understand why she has less followers than some of the others. I love her unbiased opinion on the products, the detailed descriptions and how she calculates the value for each item.

gianfrancogorgonzola · 25/12/2022 05:16

Oh that’s a great tip to use on arms! It feels a little harsh to me, maybe because I’ve been weaned off physical exfoliant onto chemical too successfully.

Adventadventures · 25/12/2022 09:50

Fab ending to the calendar for me . Looking forward to trying the candle later this evening Overall a big wow from me .
I can’t wait to try out loads of stuff just waiting on my current moisturiser to finish and will crack open the sheisedo , ditto the serum, shampoo and shower gel.
I think LIB got the balance just right loads of really useful products with the odd treat makeup/candle/body cream. I think I will use pretty much everything. Only thing missing from my wish list is possibly switch the lipgloss for a lip balm and to have added a hand cream instead of one of the hair products and it would have been my dream calander
Well down LIB and thank you everyone for sharing the experience

CountryCob · 25/12/2022 11:39

I agree this has been a great advent, new products well chosen and some classics, very solid construction too. I heard of someone buying the festive edits and refilling and this would be a contender for that and could be used for a man too. Thanks everyone for sharing

Zoetrope1 · 25/12/2022 21:09

Great ending to the calendar for me too. What a generous size!

Agreed, this calendar has been excellent value

merry Christmas everyone! I’ve enjoyed unboxing with you all 🌲☺️

Merry Christmas everyone! This has been good fun. Hope we can do it again next year!

Jumbojem · 26/12/2022 23:21

Bit late to the party, but I've loved my calendar. Same as the rest, lip gloss a bit of a dud and I'm not crazy about the patchouli perfume.
But I know I will use the rest and I'm already really looking some of the products, including some I didn't think I would. Lots I haven't tried yet as using other stuff up first, and don't want to introduce too many new things at once.
Here's to a great 2023 everyone!

Buster27 · 27/12/2022 14:57

I also loved my calendar and think I will use everything. I haven't tried everything yet but so far I am really liking the Shiseido moisturiser, Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask, Suzanne Kaufmann eye rescue serum and Olaplex no.3. I also really like the Iconic Triple Precision brow definer that came in the Summer box that I got for free with the calendar.

My star item is the Trish McEvoy eyeliner, which makes me laugh as I originally considered it the worst. I would never have bought it as I prefer liquid to pencil, but this is now my favourite eyeliner! Never thought I would be concerned to pencil Grin

Hope everyone had a good Christmas!

KimmySchmitt · 02/01/2023 17:08

Happy new year! How is everyone finding the items now we've had a chance to use them? I've broken out in a rash under my arms and I'm putting it down to the Kalmar shower gel unfortunately. I usually have really hardy skin too, takes a lot to irritate me but I think it's just too fragranced.

OP posts:
Jumbojem · 02/01/2023 17:49

I'm using the eye serum daily and like it a lot. Tried the Christophe Robin hair cream but I don't love it, makes my hair feel sticky.
Like summer Fridays mask but have forgotten to use it over the Christmas week.
There's so much I haven't used yet though so I need to have a sort.
Oh, I did try the lixir vit C stuff yesterday but guess once isn't enough to judge.
I need to try the Kate Somerville and Medik8 stuff still but am wary about trying too many new things all at once.

Adventadventures · 02/01/2023 17:58

@KimmySchmitt i have just packed the Kalmar shower gel for my holiday this week so now I am worried ! .
I also found the Christophe Robin too heavy for my hair first time round but have tried again with a tiny bit at the ends and it was much better.
I love the kate Somerville but only use it once a week, also enjoying the biossance rose oil and the eye liner

PomRuns · 02/01/2023 18:05

Ah I like the shower gel - that’s a shame you didn’t get on with it.
The dry shampoo is good - not tried much else yet.
