ooohhhh,. just got a notification saying my Cowshed AC is out for delivery! Impressive!

ajandjjmum · 17/12/2022 16:56

The Cowshed calendar I ordered for DD has arrived - I'm feeling like I might keep it for myself! :)

amonsteronthehill · 17/12/2022 17:11

Mine just arrived! Looking forward to having it for January :)

AprilLady · 17/12/2022 18:01

That auction sounds interesting!

I was in House of Fraser today. Lots of their advent calendars in stock marked down to £65. They also had the contents on display. I was not particularly tempted, there are rather a lot of small, sample sized bits. But the ND palette and the two full size lipsticks are rather nice, so perhaps worth it if those appeal to you.

RosettaStormer · 17/12/2022 18:22

Looking for a calendar for daughter in law. What is left which is the best value?

Peridot1 · 18/12/2022 08:13

@RosettaStormer - it’s really hard to say but the Cowshed one is £40 and looks good. Although I’ve never used the products so can’t say what they are like. It really depends on your budget.

AprilLady · 18/12/2022 10:33

@RosettaStormer @Peridot1 just a warning on Cowshed. I also went for it at £40, and have just opened it. The contents are not the same as the list on the Beautyadventcalendar site. No expensive serums for one. I’m really glad I paid no more than £40 for it - I’d have felt somewhat conned if I had shelled out £140 for it!

AprilLady · 18/12/2022 10:58

So, was exercised enough about the Cowshed to do some numbers (my spreadsheet came back out 😀)

Cosmetopia “full size only” value £11 (cuticle oil) or £27 (if you include the hand creams which are also available in a larger size)

Overall RRP if you pro-rate everything £102.50. I confess I assumed no value for the tiny nail file and muslin face cloth.

That's disappointing. I haven't opened my box yet, thinking I'd wait until January as it will be a Christmas present for me. Now I'm disappointed thinking they've been dishonest about it and changed things out.

I will complain if they have.

Housewife2010 · 18/12/2022 11:36

Re cowshed, that's awful. I know that after ordering there seemed to be two variants - one with full size serum and the other with the nail file, but the cowshed site has the full size serum one. See the link below and scroll down to product details. It shows the full size serum variant. www.cowshed.com/products/24-day-advent-calendar-2021

If you complain, please let us know the outcome. I am still waiting for mine.

Peridot1 · 18/12/2022 11:49

Wow. That’s not good about Cowshed. Would definitely put me off buying anything from them.

Pinenu · 18/12/2022 11:59

That’s really bad. Sorry you’ve all been let down, especially as I know some of you bought them as gifts. It’s not good enough.

I’m interested to know what they say but I won’t be buying from them.

RosettaStormer · 18/12/2022 12:23

I ‘ve got the nail file too! Furious. The calendar is really quite underwhelming to be honest. What are their contact details as I can’t find any in their website?

RosettaStormer · 18/12/2022 12:28

I found an email address. The phone number on their Facebook page doesn’t work!

AprilLady · 18/12/2022 12:31

@Housewife2010 well the contents are definitely not the same as that list - no serum, no sleep spray, no deodorant, no lip balm. Replaced by nail file (!!!), shave cream, wonder balm and yet another small shower gel, I think.

I’m sending mine back and asking for a refund

Pinenu · 18/12/2022 12:38

I saw my BIL this morning and he said it’s simply called the sale room (I don’t know if this is just what he and his pals call it) l. Anyway, he picked up one of the calendars for me for a few quid but on top of that he had to pay a buyer’s fee and some other commission so it worked out at about £30.

I picked it up, it felt suspiciously light. It’s empty!! 😂 They’re bought as seen with no inspection or details given. He’s not fussed at all about it but said if I go searching to only get one that shows the contents.

AprilLasy · 18/12/2022 13:36

@Pinenu 😂. That makes the Cowshed calendar look better value!

diamondsandrose · 18/12/2022 13:39

Oh no re cowshed ! Mines not here yet. Is there a contents list on the back of the actual calendar , what does that say?

Surely they can't change it from what was listed in the online product description? That's totally fraudulent!

diamondsandrose · 18/12/2022 13:42

It's not on the website any more , only the refill.
Sounds like we are getting the refill contents rather than the original as stated ?

Go on my Cowshed advent link above and click on product ingredients for the list.

Pinenu · 18/12/2022 14:14

@AprilLasy 😂 An empty look fantastic, ransacked Selfridges and missing cult beauty. I’ve not had much luck with calendars this year. Maybe Santa really does watch what we get up to 😂

Peridot1 · 18/12/2022 15:10

That’s so odd re the auction place @Pinenu! And I agree you have not had the best of luck with calendars this year. Hope Santa makes it up to you somehow!
