I've opened my Cowshed calendar. The calendar is beautiful, but it is the nail file not full size serum variant. It has the full size eye balm worth £25. The serum would be £38 so I'm sure that the totals of both variants would be similar. The sizes are very small. I decided that if all the products were together in a beauty box, I wouldn't pay £40 (plus postage) for them, so I'm going to return it. There is a free RM returns label inside.

amonsteronthehill · 18/12/2022 18:25

I screenshotted the contents list of what should be in the box; I will be checking later.

amonsteronthehill · 18/12/2022 19:04

I am also missing the serum; I just checked. Quite cross about it as it was the primary reason I bought the calendar as a treat for myself. I have just messaged them on their support form asking that it be sent to me.

The list of contents is on the back of the calendar so you will be able to see straightaway if it is the elusive Illuminating Serum variant or the dreaded nail file one.

MidnightMeltdown · 18/12/2022 20:05

Not sure where you guys saw the ingredients list, but I looked in this page when you guys were ordering, and the nail file etc is pictured

www.cowshed.com/products/24-day-advent-calendar-2021

I didn't find another page with a £40 calendar. I didn't order because I thought that it looked like a bunch of minis with a nail file! Don't know much about the brand though.

doublecleansed · 18/12/2022 20:33

Hmmm, the link to that page has 2021 in the address - I wonder if it's last year's calendar that they were flogging cheap - hence the difference in contents to what was advertised elsewhere?

MidnightMeltdown · 18/12/2022 20:52

Yes I wondered that. Bit cheeky that they haven't actually said anywhere on the page that it's 2021's calendar.

RosettaStormer · 18/12/2022 21:09

If that’s the case it’s disgraceful

notanicepersonapparently · 18/12/2022 22:10

Ive just had a look at the beauty advent calendar website which has the product details for the previous years advent calendars. The 2021 calendar is a different box but the list of contents is the one that includes the serum. Is it possible that the cowshed website has a photo of the 2022 packaging but the contents list for last years? Regardless of how the mix up happened it is disappointing and we would be entitled to a refund as the goods are not as described.

Housewife2010 · 18/12/2022 22:33

We can have a refund anyway under distance selling regulations.

Zoetrope1 · 19/12/2022 10:17

Oh no @Pinenu you haven’t had much luck at all! I have to say your upbeat attitude is refreshing though!!

Pinenu · 19/12/2022 10:30

Thank you @Peridot1 and @Zoetrope1 I had a pretty terrible Christmas last year so it would take a lot to get me down this year 😁

Tiktok have now cancelled the CB calendar as per their policy for when a seller doesn’t dispatch the item or respond to queries. I now have to request a refund. I’m surprised by how badly it’s all been handled, especially given the fact it would have taken just one response from them to resolve.

SwordBilledHummingbird · 19/12/2022 12:04

I'm expecting a nail file in the Cowshed calendar as it's on the photo of the contents but I'd had a quick glance at the ingredients list and so was also expecting the serum. I hadn't noticed that the nail file wasn't listed there. A nail file is a pretty terrible item for a beauty advent calendar anyway and is one of the reasons I only bought when it was reduced to £40.

Are the other items really tiny? I don't mind travel size but I'm going to be annoyed if they're teeny samples.

Housewife2010 · 19/12/2022 13:15

There are a couple of 50 g handcreans but the majority are 30 ml bottles which is very small. Another of the 24 days is a muslin cloth.

SwordBilledHummingbird · 19/12/2022 13:22

That is pretty small... I saw that there's a muslin cloth, that's about as exciting as the nail file. Really in two minds about whether I'll keep the calendar or not but I have been wanting to try Cowshed products for some time now.

MidnightMeltdown · 19/12/2022 13:26

The shocking thing is that it was originally £140 😱

Surely they couldn't have sold any at all at that price?!

SwordBilledHummingbird · 19/12/2022 13:36

I agree, £140 is outrageous! I wasn't even convinced it was worth it at £70.

AprilLady · 19/12/2022 14:17

It is shocking value - and only worth £40 if you’re keen to try Cowshed products. Many of the products are overnight hotel size and nature - 30ml shower gels, shampoo, conditioner, a small soap 🙄

One small positive - the box is quite nice, and a more practical size than most of the big advent calendars. DD is going to use it for storing her (extensive) collection of earrings.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 19/12/2022 19:35

My Cowshed calendar hasn't arrived yet. I didn't look at the photos to be honest but did look at the ingredients list. It's a bit disappointing if they are not providing what was described.

Roundaboot · 19/12/2022 19:58

I've started a swap thread here for anyone interested.

It's shocking about Cowshed. That kind of thing can really put you off a brand. Bare Minerals, on the other hand, have come of this shining stars! I'm really loving the calendar too.

notanicepersonapparently · 20/12/2022 13:57

My Cowshed calendar arrived today. It’s the one with the one with the ‘wrong’ contents. I’ve emailed them saying the contents aren’t as described on their website and please send me the serum. I’ll let you know if I get a reply.

Mine is due to arrive this evening. Will be interested to know how you get on.

I messaged them 2 days ago asking for them to post me the serum as well. Crickets, so far.

Really poor.

I get that the nail file was pictured in the photo, that you couldn't zoom in on or see labels, clearly, but the list of contents was very clear. I assumed the nail file was an 'extra' with the cuticle cream.

Agreed. BareMinerals wasn’t a brand I’d tried before but I am loving the products, especially the lipsticks and gloss (apologies for any spoiler!). I will definitely be a repeat purchaser.

Walnutwhipsarenothesame · 20/12/2022 15:59

Is it the clean beauty calendar ?
