OK, I am chief bridesmaid for best friend at big castle wedding in June. Her dress is big and fabulous. The other bridesmaid is approaching 6 foot and is less curvy than I. I am 5 foot 5 with tits and an arse. This is the dress that the other bridesmaid and bride prefer. The bride would never let me wear something I hated but time is of the essence and it is not easy to get together again and re-choose. I have a habit of being petulant and rebelling if I haven't made the choice myself and may be doing that in this instance like a sulky teenager. The dress pictured is a Dessy one (no 2043) and is sampled in blue, but the actual dress will be in chocolate brown. Do I look as horrendous in it as I do in my own head? Obviously it needs altering, but I think my hips look huge!! and yes, I have my magic knickers on already, but I don't think I was wearing heels. Pics on profile.

but I have looked at the dress and I am not keen on it...just no my taste.

Can you just get another style in same colour...very appropriate for the Chief anyway!

MrsBadger · 29/01/2008 12:24

this one?

it's quite, er, revealing, isn't it?

suwoo · 29/01/2008 12:24

More photos to be added....hold on.

Bloody hell, nooooooo. That would show up the hairs on your nipples, and every millimeter of spare flesh you own.

And how is it a bridesmaid's dress. It looks more like a nightie.

Fimbo · 29/01/2008 12:28

Have looked at MrsB's link.

I have boobs/bum and would look awful in that dress. The material would cling in all the wrong places.

Beautiful though if you are tall and willowy, with a hint of boob.

EffiePerine · 29/01/2008 12:28

halter neck w large norks? No way.

yurt1 · 29/01/2008 12:28

Stretch fabric?Oh dear. If you're slim- wonderful. I'd look 9 months pregnant in that (am not pregnant at all). I'd have to hold my tummy in all day then change into jeans at the reception

I can understand your concern.....

SoupDragon · 29/01/2008 12:28

Not if it's the Mrs B linked one, not if you're not tall and skinny!

suwoo · 29/01/2008 12:29

Just added another one, the dress is pulled up so a better(?) fit? Massive hips????

rantinghousewife · 29/01/2008 12:29

Not my cup of tea but, I don't think that dress would look good on a skinny either, you would need breasts and hips to carry it off.

speak2deb · 29/01/2008 12:29

If it's the one that Mrs Badger found, then I would definately be a bit worried. It's very lowcut and is going to make anyone with a curvaceous figure (like mine is) look enourmous. Also, anything shiny or in satin makes you look about a stone heavier in photos.
Maybe you should ask your friend for some crisis talks.
