OK, I am chief bridesmaid for best friend at big castle wedding in June. Her dress is big and fabulous. The other bridesmaid is approaching 6 foot and is less curvy than I. I am 5 foot 5 with tits and an arse. This is the dress that the other bridesmaid and bride prefer. The bride would never let me wear something I hated but time is of the essence and it is not easy to get together again and re-choose. I have a habit of being petulant and rebelling if I haven't made the choice myself and may be doing that in this instance like a sulky teenager. The dress pictured is a Dessy one (no 2043) and is sampled in blue, but the actual dress will be in chocolate brown. Do I look as horrendous in it as I do in my own head? Obviously it needs altering, but I think my hips look huge!! and yes, I have my magic knickers on already, but I don't think I was wearing heels. Pics on profile.

OK, you have all reassured me, thanks. And yes I was wearing a bra in the photo! Difficult to get one to go under that halter top. I thought you would all say it was monstrous. Just waiting for Cod to come on and say I look a minger now......

It's an awful choice for a wedding imo but, I agree it looks far better on you than on the website. Still, I think you're boobs are just too big for it- you need something slightly wider on the shoulders than a skimpy halterneck.

Are the bride and other bridesmaid really set on this dress?

pootleflump · 29/01/2008 12:44

your boobs

SoupDragon · 29/01/2008 12:44

Oh, looks far better on you than I was expecting from how it looked on the model! you won't look like a twat

suwoo · 29/01/2008 12:45

Seems so. Its just so difficult to sort another one out as they take 12 weeks to come and then theres the alterations....of which I need a lot.

I think you look fab in it, not the usual style for a bridesmaid dress, Is the Brides dress very slender and sexy looking? If it is then your dress will compliment it fine but if hers is Airy fairy so to speak I think you need to look at different dresses

SoupDragon · 29/01/2008 12:45

Agree that you'll need some serious underwear to contain your norks though

janestillhere · 29/01/2008 12:46

I think you look better than the model in it.
Brown will be lovely.
Don't worry.
Just make sure you wear the bum keeping inny garment! Imagine dancing and your shiny bum moving about! (like mine would!)
Jane x
P.s. Your hubby looks just like mine!

discoverlife · 29/01/2008 12:46

What kind of accesories will there be? You look good in the dress, but there are better out there.

suwoo · 29/01/2008 12:48

Thats freaky Jane, is he attached to the laptop too like mine?
No Magnolia, I mentioned in OP, brides dress is big!

Sidge · 29/01/2008 12:49

Well it's OK, but it doesn't do a lot for you.

The dress sort of wears you, rather than you wearing the dress.

You have a lovely figure but the dress is just, well, not flattering. But you don't look a twat.

Sorry

suwoo · 29/01/2008 12:49

I wanted more of an a line strapless number, to match the brides silhouette and to contain my arse.

pirategirl · 29/01/2008 12:49

you lool much better int he dress than that model in that pic does.

I think when the length is done and you have your shoes on it will be great. You have a great figure, good shoulders, and its not hideous at all!!!

I know you have a bra on, but a better one would help. Try one of those bra/bodice things.I had one when i got married by Fantasie, and it was superb.

In fact i still have it somewhere !! (the bra not the marraige) its a 34 dd, if you are interested, but you look like you are about a 34 E or f??

suwoo · 29/01/2008 12:50

Its OK sidge, thats my opinion too.

No, he is in the garage. PLAYING with things. x

suwoo · 29/01/2008 12:51

I've got a really narrow back. I'm a 30e.

OP posts:
magnolia74 · 29/01/2008 12:51

Oh in that case I really can't understand why she would want dresses like that to be honest. I agree a well cut strapless number would look much better but it's her wedding so what can you do

You don't look a twat at all though so don't worry

Dropdeadfred · 29/01/2008 12:52

I am getting married in july and my bridesmaidswill wear brown
Now i worry it will look 'dated'

ib · 29/01/2008 12:53

I think it looks lovely

it's ok
not my choice but if you like the dress it looks good on you

i think it's a bit odd for a bridesmaid's dress

suwoo · 29/01/2008 12:55

Yeah, I get my bras from Bravissimo, will have to invest in good strapless one.

pirategirl · 29/01/2008 13:00

this one looks like it will do the job

ex Rigby and Peller employee

suwoo · 29/01/2008 13:02

It needs to be quite low though, in the middle as the dress comes low. You'd be able to see that one I think.

OP posts:
nailpolish · 29/01/2008 13:04

i still think you should get another dress

you clearly dont love it

surely the bride will not want her bridesmaids unhappy

you can get lovely off the peg dresses from monsoon etc, no need to go to a bridal shop and all the fittings etc
