For me:

  • Fake tan - it looks shit on my Celtic white skin, smells shit, makes a mess, takes too much time and is expensive. I gave up on it about age 22

  • Wearing rings and bracelets. I realised at the age of 38 that I never put them on because I hate the feeling of my hands being constricted. Especially as I type all day long.

  • Uncomfortable shoes. Life is too short to hobble.

Makeup. Can no longer see the point.

In the hot weather- underwear

MoonKnight · 30/07/2022 23:56

Dyeing my hair, shaving, pedicures I could go on. I got out of the habit during lockdown and the world didn’t end!

PersonaNonGarter · 30/07/2022 23:56

Mascara. I dye my lashes sometimes. But mascara just seems too much. Not sure why.

AyeUpMeDuck · 30/07/2022 23:57

Too tight.. too loose.. to up bits I don't want things up.. too high.

I don't care. Give me comfortable trousers, underwear that fits, walking boots and a button down long sleeve shirt.
I'd rather look like I'm off to do a hike than off to a club to get pissed... But then I'd rather be off to do a hike than off to a club to get.pissed.. 😜

MummyDrinksWine · 30/07/2022 23:57

I agree with the shoes.

I went to a show today and caught a man looking absolutely horrified at my crocs & socks 😂

I suddenly felt about 60.. not 26 🥴

I agree with you re jewellery and comfortable shoes. Comfortable clothes in general! For me though it's shaving my underarms! I do this once every few months now.

Looking ‘presentable’

I used to fix my hair and do my make up just for a trip to the shop. Now it’s just moisturiser and hoping to get in and get out fast.

DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms · 31/07/2022 00:03

Another one from me - tretinoin. Tried loads of times, buffering with moisturiser, low dose, twice a week only. Nope. Too irritating. I get on much better with bha and azelaic acid as my only actives. (Im 39 and dont have many wrinkles anyway, rosacea is my main concern)

Cooking. But I have kids so unfortunately I can't stop doing it 🤣

C0mfyChairP0se · 31/07/2022 00:07

long hair. My hair very wavy/curly and it was a part time job blow drying it smooth several times a day. So I got it cut quite short and now it's all about the shape. It's a relief.
Like a pp, I can't wear necklaces, rings, bracelets... Love earrings though.

Uncomfortable underwear and shoes.

Anything below my elbows. Years in healthcare have made me loathe having things on my wrists /fingers.

Ditto long nails. They might look pretty but having seen the germs they can harbour lit up like a Christmas tree under a special light even after a good scrub I can't get past the ick with them. They're grim.

Haircuts. My hair is currently down to my bum but I like it that way. It's red, shiny, wavy and actually looks pretty good. It needs length to weigh it down due to a cows lick and a double crown. Didn't cut it over lock down except to trim a few frizzy ends and have finally managed to grow out the layers every hairdresser in existence seems to insist on. I fucking hate layers. They mess up every hairstyle that isn't 'down'.

Washing my hair more than once a week. It's now in far better condition and I have an awful lot more time.

Jeans. I'm short with a big bum and a small waist. They never fit and aren't actually that comfortable. Give me a dress, a skirt or a well tailored pair of trousers over jeans any day. Leggings and yoga pants even better.

Thongs
fake tan prefer my clear skin and too much hassle with fake tan and think everyone looks orange and makes the face looks muddy and older
Men.. could not be arsed
Cooking but have to but do not love it the way I used to just do it for necessity

ZenNudist · 31/07/2022 01:37

High heels
Toe nail or nail polish, buggers my nails and I look nice au natural.

ShirleyJackson · 31/07/2022 01:44

High heels.
Long nails.
Hair. I have a VERY short pixie now, and my life is infinitely easier.
Foundation. Sits in your wrinkles as you get older and is very ageing.
Fake tan. Far too much hassle, and makes my age spots look like I’ve had creosote flicked at me.

Celia24 · 31/07/2022 01:49

Mascara. Get occasional lash lift but hate the stuff.

Since the pandemic I stopped concealing all my freckles.

I stopped wearing fancy shoes to work. Live in my fitflops now.

Blackdiame · 31/07/2022 02:00

Nail polish. It's a faff to do at home and too expensive for me to get gone at nail salons? I keep them bare and shaped well. Same for toes.

Foundation. Colour never matches and it looks flat so you end up piling on the bronzer and contour just to look real again.

Fake tan. Looks muddy.

Dresses. Short body so waistbands don't sit right. It's just easier with separates.

Heels. I don't hate my feet.

Hair dye. Grey hair doesn't make me look old. If you think it does, your old fashioned thinking makes you look old.
