Beauty Advent Calendars *spoiler alert - contents discussed within thread*

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 23/07/2022 12:26

Is it too soon for a thread on these? I remember last year they were all coming out or going on sale in September so not too far off.

I got the spacenk one last year and it was first ever beauty advent calendar and I loved it. Still using some of the products and have gone to purchase at least five items in full size, two of them multiple times.

This year I'll get the spacenk one again but might also go for the cult beauty as well.

Title amended by MNHQ to alert folk to the presence of spoilers within the thread.

Sorry that was to @SoloCat

Luvacuppatea2 · 17/09/2022 06:39

I like the sound of a 12 day fragrance advent (Harrods) as long as the fragrances come in lovely miniature glass bottles inside the beautiful Harrods pouches, and are not just 5ml or 10ml samples in bog standard vials! Interested to see the beauty advent contents too, though the mention of AB and CT is less than thrilling……..

Doubleraspberry · 17/09/2022 08:17

I’m also quite excited by a fragrance calendar. But I like 24/5 days so it puts me in a tricky position.

SoloCat · 17/09/2022 10:36

PomRuns · 16/09/2022 22:45

@AprilLady are you aiming for one ? I seem
to remember Harrods was in stock a while last year as was Liberty. Bit mean to only do the discount for 24 hours ….

Yes, was aiming for one…but you know how these things go 😀
With the selling out of the CB quite quick and the Liberty discount for 24 hours, it’s all a bit up in the air!
If they are supposed to be encouraging sales to BD members fair enough, but if you miss that 24 hours it would be rather annoying to pay the extra. It would be better if it was for longer as I do remember their calendars hanging around last year too.
Just tell us what’s in the Harrods fgs, put me out of my advent misery. 😅

I think that the 12 days ones are supposed to be for the 12 days of Christmas, so clearly you need a 24 day one and a 12 day one 😄

MidnightMeltdown · 17/09/2022 10:46

@SoloCat

Yes I'd quite like to get CB, but given the way that they announce it with no notice, I don't want to rely on getting it. I don't know whether I should just go for Liberty to be on the safe side

I don't want to not get CB and then Liberty be sold out too! I imagine that Liberty will be popular this year because of the beauty drop

Well, good point. Still thinking Anthropologie for the main one.

Zeeza · 17/09/2022 14:18

Liberty only gives the £10 off for one day to build hype and shift more stock. They all want to make you feel like they are a rarity. Whereas most of us probably wouldn't mind too much if we ended up with a liberty or a CB or a JL or a harrods or a NAP or a LiB etc etc etc.

Keep your heads. Don't be rushed into getting something you might not want.

Luvacuppatea2 · 17/09/2022 15:13

@Zeeza agree that the Liberty ‘£10 off’ is just hype to shift lots of calendars on the day of release. If you are definitely getting the Liberty advent, then £10 off is better than nothing, but I think the offer which came later last year of £10 of bonus points added to your account for every £50 spent was a much better deal. It included the calendar, which cost around £230 I think, so gave all purchasers a £40 bonus/rebate to spend during January. I wonder if they will repeat that this year, or if the calendar will sell out very quickly?

bringbackveronicamars · 17/09/2022 15:22

I wasn't impressed at the Liberty calendar when I looked at it earlier ... what am I missing?

PomRuns · 17/09/2022 15:23

Liberty is top of my list at the moment anyway. If JL is great - I’ll get both but Harrods could be a contender. As Liberty is not released until
27th - hopefully we’ll all be in the know by then !!!

PomRuns · 17/09/2022 15:25

@Luvacuppatea2 Id be annoyed if they did that at a later stage

greywinds · 17/09/2022 16:38

Harrod's may be worth checking - I had a look at the info so far and the value is over £1k so like Harvey Nichols, two brands probably looking to boost their beauty profile.

Talisin · 17/09/2022 17:27

Next are selling last years advent alongside this years. They haven’t reduced it but it is £16 cheaper than this years one.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/09/2022 18:57

I love the look of the Sephora advent calendar beautyadventcalendar.net/sephora-advent-calendars-2022/
but (using my GCSE French) it looks like they don't deliver to the UK.

I don't understand why Sephora don't retail here, they'd make millions!

Personally I like the perfumes and the fact that it has a few serums. Also want brow gel and I like Malin & Goetz products. I think that I'll enjoy everything in it (except maybe blue mascara!).

Plus I have Liberty voucher from their rewards scheme

greywinds · 17/09/2022 19:09

Agree re Sephora @TracyBeakerSoYeah it's a puzzle

MidnightMeltdown · 17/09/2022 19:09

Barry M has a gua sha AND a jade roller! 😱

Plus a hair bobble and a nail file

What a bargain for £80

Zeeza · 17/09/2022 19:14

🤣🤣🤣 I hope Cosmetopia Digest reviews it

Giftwithpurchase · 17/09/2022 20:23

I seem to remember that CB had a two stage release last year - so if you missed out on the first calendar sale you could register for the next and grab one then. Also it didn't sell out for nearly three/four days last year I think - so a bit more time to think about it

Giftwithpurchase · 17/09/2022 20:25

The Dior calendar is just such bad value - strictly for collectors I suppose. Can't wait to see what Chanel do this year, I wonder if they'll dare to make it as shoddy as last year 😆

Zeeza · 17/09/2022 20:30

If money was no object I might get the dior one. It's not the great value of others, as you say. But it is rather lovely.

As I stupidly got the wrong numbers on euromillions again yesterday I will not, however, be getting it this year.

The chanel one was so odd. It was like an April fools joke.

I picked up the Sephora advent in Ibiza last year and it was brilliant. Only about €49 and such good value. I'm still using a few bits now. The little hair grips are great.

In Menorca now and NO Sephora. Trying to talk dh into a ferry trip to Majorca but he's not having it Hmm

Diplidocus4 · 17/09/2022 21:25

I've seen a Temple Spa calender that looks lovely , though not very good so no idea to link it !
