Beauty Advent Calendars *spoiler alert - contents discussed within thread*

Is it too soon for a thread on these? I remember last year they were all coming out or going on sale in September so not too far off.

I got the spacenk one last year and it was first ever beauty advent calendar and I loved it. Still using some of the products and have gone to purchase at least five items in full size, two of them multiple times.

This year I'll get the spacenk one again but might also go for the cult beauty as well.

Title amended by MNHQ to alert folk to the presence of spoilers within the thread.

I will probably get Liberty or Cult Beauty too.

Liberty has a sheet mask, a rollerball and a blue mascara

Cult beauty on the other hand has an eye mask, supplements, and a highlighter!

I'm not sure which is the lesser of the evils. I may need to do a spreadsheet.

PalacePaper · 03/09/2022 18:06

@MidnightMeltdown I had the scrub from the HB calendar too and also hated it! It's put me off trying anything else from the range but I love the concept.

I'm tempted by M&S but really want to see the contents of John Lewis!

BakeOffRewatch · 03/09/2022 18:46

Agree that the Fortnum and Mason one is best on sizes and I would use it all as (very) up market versions of my usual. Every time someone mentions it as their fav on here I go check it but doesn’t stir interest for me. Maybe I’ll get it next year.

Still Liberty for me, I’m very excited about it actually.

Does anyone know if Cow Shed will do one this year?

ChannelLightVessel · 03/09/2022 19:19

I hope this is OK, but I’ve got a few items from previous H & B calendar still going spare (never opened, even to sniff), if any of the people putting together DIY calendars are interested. Not looking for anything in return, just pleased to find a home for things:
Evolve bio-retinal face mask 30ml
Oleus jojoba oil 50ml
Ayumi turmeric & bergamot face mask 20ml
Natura Siberica hair mask 30ml
Disciple balancing mist 50ml
Tisserand sleep better pillow mist 9ml
True facial oil for dehydrated skin 10ml

If you'd be willing to accept something for it, I may be interested.

christmas2022 · 03/09/2022 21:30

The three items on the left would be of most interest.

christmas2022 · 03/09/2022 21:31

Sorry the right 😊

ChannelLightVessel · 03/09/2022 22:24

My left or yours😜 PM me?

Roundaboot · 03/09/2022 22:32

@ChannelLightVessel I'd happily take the facial oil off your hands as I really liked it but I'd like to offer something in return.

Everybody needs a spreadsheet

PomRuns · 04/09/2022 12:22

I’m still not sure - will decide when JL release contents. Now I’m back from holiday, I’ll invest some spreadsheet time although it won’t be to the standard of the other excellent ones on here.

FredaFox · 04/09/2022 17:08

As I've just had birthday vouchers for Selfridges im plumping for that though I always get two as like one in miserable January so still got money to burn!

IconicKitty · 04/09/2022 17:56

Glossy box looks quite nice

Luvacuppatea2 · 04/09/2022 19:16

That sounds like a good idea @FredaFox I’ve been trying to talk myself out of getting a 2nd calendar this year, but having one for January does sound like a lovely idea - especially as the winter is shaping up to be unbearable miserable! Have my eyes on Latest in Beauty, unless Harrods or JL come up trumps……

doobedooboom · 04/09/2022 19:24

Help please! I really want to buy one. I once bought the Charlotte tilbury one and loved it but I am not the type of person who uses all the stuff. But I want to be! What do you recommend as a starter calendar for someone who wants to take a bit better care of herself? Willing to spend money on this. Love make up and skin care stuff - trying to get back to pre-lockdown days where I would get up and get ready every day to go to the office whereas now it's a miracle if I even get dressed...thought a calendar would be a nice way to kick start it all!

Zeeza · 04/09/2022 20:18

M and s is tremendous value.

Elle is a good midrange one.

Lots of good ones from 200-250 but that is a lorra lorra money.

www.beautyadventcalendar.net is a good place if you like reading this stuff.

There are also YouTube videos discussing them. One I love keeps talking me out of buying them. Which is helpful.

doobedooboom · 04/09/2022 21:27

Thank you that website is fantastic!

LaBrujaPiruja · 05/09/2022 14:02

Re Liberty advent calendar. Does anyone who have bought it in the past and had it shipped to France or Italy (or anywhere in mainland Europe) know if any duties or import tax have to be paid on delivery?

I haven't bought it in the past but I was on to them last month and it is shipped duty paid to Ireland, so presumably the same for the rest of the EU. Somebody mentioned earlier though that they swap out the perfumes and put something else in as you can't ship the sprays internationally. I don't know what they put in instead.

TheDuchessOfMN · 05/09/2022 18:01

The Next calendar doesn’t appear to be on the Irish site.
We are so limited with what we can buy now @OchonAgusOchonOh Look Fantastic, Cult Beauty, Space NK or Liberty. I think that’s it?

I know. I doo feel a bit hard done by with some of them.

Feel Unique and Glossybox do Ireland too I think. They certainly did in the past.

On the plus side, it does make the spreadsheet easier to create 😀

MidnightMeltdown · 06/09/2022 16:21

Not for me I don't think

PomRuns · 06/09/2022 16:40

Ah Fenwick’s looks good apart from the eyebrow serum and this works roller balls.
honestly I might boycott anything with a rollerball

Luvacuppatea2 · 06/09/2022 18:00

No sizes mentioned against Fenwick contents yet - if I remember correctly, they tend to be on the small side?
