Beauty Advent Calendars *spoiler alert - contents discussed within thread*

Is it too soon for a thread on these? I remember last year they were all coming out or going on sale in September so not too far off.

I got the spacenk one last year and it was first ever beauty advent calendar and I loved it. Still using some of the products and have gone to purchase at least five items in full size, two of them multiple times.

This year I'll get the spacenk one again but might also go for the cult beauty as well.

Title amended by MNHQ to alert folk to the presence of spoilers within the thread.

Look fantastic advent has been released. If you want it there is a ten pound discount code from a blog. I dont know if I am allowed to mention it or link it thoigh, as she will get a referral fee.

Doubleraspberry · 01/09/2022 16:51

The contents are sadly dull I thought, including a gua sha.

Maranello · 01/09/2022 17:16

When will John Lewis contents be announced? I'm getting impatient now!

Not beauty but this made me laugh, it’s unfilled! Lovely but sold empty 😂
imagine someone ordering without checking…

Ooh I’m thinking the Sunday Times/Latest in beauty advent looks reasonably good actually. I see M and S has been released too!

Luvacuppatea2 · 02/09/2022 07:53

i just came on here to mention the Latest in Beauty calendar @LoveLabradors - I rather like the look of this despite telling myself that this year I’ll be having ONLY F&M 🤣. I like the selection in LIB, good sized Boy Smells candle too!

Peridot1 · 02/09/2022 08:25

Having said I was definitely not getting a calendar this year and having been reading along and looking at all the comments on here about all of the calendar reveals and really not being too tempted by anything I now think I may end up getting the M&S one. I know I will use most of it. I actually bought the Phillip Kingsley travel size shampoo and conditioner to take on holiday this year and probably would again.

Zeeza · 02/09/2022 09:40

The m and s one is such good value. And so beautifully presented this time.

It's just that the products aren't ones I would use. If I would I would buy two 😂

LookdeepintotheParka · 02/09/2022 10:01

M&S looks perfect for me. Lots of useful products that either DD or I will use.

Agree about the thoughtful packaging from M&S. The tin was great last year - I use it for cakes!

Roundaboot · 02/09/2022 10:21

UpCircle have just released their first advent calendar for pre-order. I was a initially a bit excited as I'm a huge fan of UpCircle. I use their eye cream, serum and cleansing balm on a regular basis and love them. The serum in particular makes a massive, visible difference to my skin.

However, I'm a bit put off by the fact you only get 12 items and beyond saying they're "brand new, limited edition" it doesn't say what they are. It also says it includes accessories - I'd be gutted if I paid £100 for 12 items and for one of them to be a hair band, or some cotton buds! So yeah, not for me.

I'm still holding out for JL. Does anyone know when the contents will be released? I seem to remember it was one of the later ones last year

Housewife2010 · 03/09/2022 07:06

Re Latest in Beauty, I've been looking at it on Facebook. There is no mention of Latest in Beauty on the packaging, just Sunday Times Style. In 2019 the first Grazia Advent Calendar was sold through Latest in Beauty and also through Hearst magazines. So I think that this is the Sunday Times Style AC and that there will be a separate Latest in Beauty AC too.

The last two Latest in Beauty ACs have been ACs in name only though; IMO they have just been beauty boxes with 24/25 items in them.

Incidentally the Latest in Beauty AC was amongst the very first. It started about 11 years ago and for many years was a collaboration with the Mail on Sunday You magazine.

UpCircle have been catching my eye a lot lately so if they did have a spoiler I'd be tempted by that one.

Housewife2010 · 03/09/2022 07:21

@raindon Have you seen this?

Roundaboot · 03/09/2022 08:43

It's got a gua sha! 😄
Apart from that I really like the look of the contents. Not worth £100 for me but I'm excited by the prospect of them expanding their range

Doubleraspberry · 03/09/2022 09:41

M&S contents properly released and I’m a bit disappointed by the size of some, although at its price I guess not surprising. We got a full sized Aveda Damage Repair before and now it’s 15ml for example.

I am actually quite tempted by Latest in Beauty although the fragrance is patchouli which I can’t bear and it’s a shame to waste a big ticket item (for me).

MidnightMeltdown · 03/09/2022 10:50

I thought that the contents of m&s looked smaller than usual when I looked at the picture. I guess that this is their way keeping the price the same.

MidnightMeltdown · 03/09/2022 10:54

The only thing that I've tried from upcircle is a coffee face scrub that came in a H&B calendar one year, and I didn't like anything about it.
It was oily, smelt horrid, and made a huge mess all over the bathroom. It ended up getting binned.

moimichme · 03/09/2022 11:33

I really liked the UpCircle serum on wintertime and their maple eye cream was great. I'm early 40s though, and don't have any serious dry skin or wrinkles in that area yet. Their products might not be rich enough for all. I never tried the scrub though - that sounds awful!

AprilLady · 03/09/2022 12:40

Not tried any Upcircle before.

I’ve now updated my spreadsheet to include HN and Latest In Beauty. They are both contenders, especially if I do think I’ll actually use the HN vouchers. Even without them, it’s one of the better options. Still waiting for details of JL, Harrods and N-a-P though before I make any decisions.

Giftwithpurchase · 03/09/2022 12:45

Interesting @AprilLady that HN still performs well for you even if you remove the treatments. I must say it's stand out for me atm, especially as I can easily get to a store, so in theory should use the vouchers fairly easily....

greywinds · 03/09/2022 12:46

Same here on HN, I do live close enough to one, can use vouchers but the product mix aside from those is interesting enough. also wondering on JL though.

MidnightMeltdown · 03/09/2022 13:29

I've had a closer look at HN and I'm not tempted. It seems to be full of minis.

The AB oil and the SR oil I already have, and I don't want sleep spray and black eyeliner. I don't like the shades of the eyeshadow, lipsticks or lip gloss either.

I do live near a Harvey Nics, so I'll check out what the treatments are, but I think this one will be a no for me.

MidnightMeltdown · 03/09/2022 13:53

I may have accidentally purchased the F&M calendar that I decided that I was absolutely not going to get 😶

After viewing the competition, this suddenly looked a lot better! It's not the most exciting, but unlike most of the others, it has lots of good sizes, and I think that will use pretty much everything. It also has the best box!
