Beauty Advent Calendars *spoiler alert - contents discussed within thread*

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 23/07/2022 12:26

Is it too soon for a thread on these? I remember last year they were all coming out or going on sale in September so not too far off.

I got the spacenk one last year and it was first ever beauty advent calendar and I loved it. Still using some of the products and have gone to purchase at least five items in full size, two of them multiple times.

This year I'll get the spacenk one again but might also go for the cult beauty as well.

Title amended by MNHQ to alert folk to the presence of spoilers within the thread.

I’m just waiting for the Harrods reveal.
I’m thinking of getting the F&M as I’ve never had one and it does look pretty….although by the time I decide they’ll all be sold out. 😁
Apart from that it’s the Liberty as I have credit and a voucher, so won’t really feel like I’ve spent a lot, though technically I have!
I then waver thinking I won’t buy any..then I’ll end up totally envious of you all on the December countdown.

I really wanted one stand out one and at the moment there isn’t 😞

AmethystMoonShine · 26/08/2022 08:39

My F&M calendar arrived and it is beautiful 🤩
I’m impressed that it is mostly full sizes too. Also like that things like shower gel and body lotion pairings are in one days box together rather than split over two days.
The two candles smell lovely and Christmassy.
I’m delighted but also a bit shocked at how much I’ve spent. Probably shouldn’t have given the energy bill situation at the moment. In fact it did dawn on me that the two Aromatherapy Associates bath oils that I love might have to be used as shower oils as I think the days of filling our huge bath might be gone.
I’m usually an M&S calendar person but won’t get one this year as although I think as usual it fantastic value, I don’t need another one!

AmethystMoonShine · 26/08/2022 08:44

Just thought I have a question for anyone that has ordered a body shop advent from Brand Alley.,…
I ordered the purple one for 39.99, but got sent the red one - which wasn’t even on the site.
Not to worried as it’s for my DD who won’t mind at all about the content, she love it all!
just curious if anyone can remember from last year how much the red calendar was? It said the purple was 80, so at 39.99 I thought half price was a good deal.

AmethystMoonShine · 26/08/2022 08:45

*too

arghh hate typos… I need to preview! 😂

Zeeza · 26/08/2022 08:56

Last year the green was 140, the red was 80, and the purple was 55.

Diplidocus4 · 26/08/2022 09:44

Has anyone ordered or signed up for the H&B yet ?
I had an email but the link didn't work ?

SoloCat · 26/08/2022 10:44

Congratulations @AmethystMoonShine sounds perfect, it does look a beautiful calendar. Have you opened all of the drawers? Or is this a peek and pop away? If I order one I’m going to have to hide it away…it’s hard to resist a little 👀
I’ve used the AA oil in the shower generally…although can be quite intense, had to fling open the shower doors once as I think I over egged it, like too much hot mustard in one go. Learnt my lesson there 😁

AmethystMoonShine · 26/08/2022 10:53

Thanks @Zeeza so it looks like they have the wrong photo but the correct pricing on Brand Alley.

@SoloCat I have looked in all the drawers 🙈 but have now packed it away until 1st December. I shall try the AA oil in the shower but will be sparing!

OchonAgusOchonOh · 26/08/2022 11:40

Looks like No 7 have two advent calendars this year www.boots.ie/no7-waiting-list

The normal one for €59.50 plus a new deluxe one for €150. The deluxe one looks very pretty. I can't see information on what's included but the deluxe one has 23 full-size products plus a voucher for a foundation. I don't know if the voucher is a drawer on its own or an add-on.

Zeeza · 26/08/2022 12:24

The no 7 calendars look nicely presented this time. I saved points for two years and can now afford the big one on points, but I might just use it on toothpaste and tampons instead. And cerave. I've signed up to the waiting list to see if it can tempt me.

Boppertini · 26/08/2022 14:25

I wonder how well the calendars will sell this year. It will be interesting to see if they have predicted demand correctly or if the cost of living crisis will put more of their previous customers off than they were able to plan for. Not meaning to derail the thread, but basically my thinking is just that I might hold out to see if any of them are discounted later as I’m not completely sold on any of them yet.

That's what I'm doing. My husband is buying me one for Christmas but as our money is joint it doesn't mean I can just opt for a pricey one for the hell of it. None of them have really grabbed me so far anyway, although I do like the sound of the Gatineau 12 day one. I absolutely love that brand - my favourite mid range one.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 26/08/2022 16:02

I didn’t see it mentioned here but Jo Loves is out, pre-order by invitation by 31 August for shipping 5 October and general limited release 6 October. £325.

greywinds · 26/08/2022 16:22

Thanks I just had a look at the calendar, I love Jo loves. But I keep thinking that I could buy myself a big size of the candle I want for the cost of the calendar.

Think I'm coalescing on what I'm doing this year.

greywinds · 26/08/2022 16:28

Ps space nk have 20 percent off incl Jo Loves, got a log fire candle! It's raining heavily where I am so already feeling like the seasons have changed.

Yes that's my thinking too. Though if you like a brand it can be a good way of stocking up cheaply for the year ahead.

Ooh thanks I was interested in this one. Glad to see it's all decent products not just the left overs that haven't sold.

Oh dear. I’ve been wanting to try some Jo Loves products, and was hoping to be tempted by an advent calendar for ~£100. But £325 is crazy money and I can’t justify it. Will go into the store and sniff to find out what I like instead.

BrokeAsABone · 26/08/2022 17:42

The Lancôme one looks lovely this year....tempted to go for that one. Even though the products are small. I've always had a kind of yearning for Lancôme products sitting tastefully in my bathroom....that I never actually use.Blush

MidnightMeltdown · 26/08/2022 17:52

I wouldn't have minded trying the Charlotte Tilbury one, but I don't think that the makeup shades are right for me.

PomRuns · 26/08/2022 18:49

I’ve been disappointed with couple of Jo Loves fragrances. No aroma whatsoever with minutes of spraying - subtle is nice of course - bit you expect something.

AprilLady · 26/08/2022 20:47

I’ve been catching up with the latest multi-brand information.

Will be interesting to see actual sizes for NAP, but not looking great.

Selfridges is also out I think - a real mix with some lovely things (like the Pat McGrath blush and some of the perfumes) and then some big misses for me - like the false eyelashes. And if you are anosmic to ISO E super, then having both Molecules 01 and Le Labo Another 13 in the box is definitely overkill. They sell so many other brands of perfume, why these two again??

I’ll try to do the full spreadsheet analysis over the weekend..

Maranello · 26/08/2022 21:31

Selfridges also out for me, @AprilLady - feels as if most of these are in other calendars, they're all merging into one now

reallyree.com/selfridges-beauty-advent-calendar/

MidnightMeltdown · 26/08/2022 22:19

Yeah Selfridges is out for me as I already have half of the products in it. Also not keen on supplements, and I'm too old for false eyelashes. The lipstick shade looks good.

Would also like to know sizes in NAP

Tempted to get a body shop calendar to open next month!
