Beauty Advent Calendars *spoiler alert - contents discussed within thread*

Is it too soon for a thread on these? I remember last year they were all coming out or going on sale in September so not too far off.

I got the spacenk one last year and it was first ever beauty advent calendar and I loved it. Still using some of the products and have gone to purchase at least five items in full size, two of them multiple times.

This year I'll get the spacenk one again but might also go for the cult beauty as well.

Phew, Liberty out for me too. Lots I love in there (including the fragrances; candles; eye cream; bath and body stuff + the Votary cream) but a lot of hair stuff and skincare I’m not interested in. Don’t think I could rock the blue mascara either 🤣. I did a quick calculation and toted up that the stuff I would definitely like comes to around £400, so that leaves over £600 worth of things I’m not majorly interested in (though of course I could be rejecting a life-changing ‘ discovery’ here haha). Still happy with my F&M decision right now….. waiting for Harrods ….

@AmethystMoonShine , I’ve had F&M twice in the past. I love a lot of the brands included too and didn’t hesitate for long before ordering again this year. It’s due to be delivered tomorrow 😊. Then we will (hopefully) have an opening thread to look forward to in December……..

@AmethystMoonShine I would definitely be ordering F&M if I hadn't had it before. It's always been my favourite.

I've had it for the past 3 years though, and some of the items are repeats. I'm also trying be more restrained and not buy as many calendars as I have in previous years (unless they go on sale). I need a new phone next month, so I must make sure that I don't end up with 5 beauty advents and no phone! 😂

@Housewife2010 , the Uoma one. Pic from the Liberty site which came up when I googled. I might be wrong, but also when enlarging the photo of the contents, the ‘band’ around the Uoma product looks blue to me..… I’m prepared to be corrected though hahahah

@Luvacuppatea2* *Fingers crossed it's not blue. My only blue mascara was an electric blue one from Boots 17 back in the 80s.
The info gives a full size 15 ml Sunday Riley Autocorrect eye cream. I had it in last year's CB, but the photo shows a tube rather than a bulky bottle, so I wonder if there's a mistake with the size.
Also the Beauty Detective site has a £15 Liberty voucher in the AC too.

Ooh, that’s all very confusing @Housewife2010 ! Sounds as though there are some errors in the descriptions! There is another mascara in the calendar - theTrish Mcevoy one - that looks to be black. That’s what makes me think the other might be blue. Would they include two black mascaras? Who knows? The plot thickens 🤣

Thanks for the thread, arriving late here. Liberty looks beautiful but I am trying to avoid overly potent vitamin c/ retinol as it is a bit harsh often on my sensitive skin. I have had No7/ M&S, H&B, Glossybox and Space NK and Charlotte Tilbury over the years. M&S takes some beating for price I think, I do have some bits from Space NK I really like still. Quite fancy a bit more make up….

Cult Beauty had two black mascaras last year.

I’ve just looked on the Liberty site and it appears that there is a black version of this, so maybe I am wrong and the calendar does contain two black mascaras?

What do you all think about the Elemis one? I’ve been loving their products but buy mainly on offer through qvc and feel last years calendar didn’t warrant the price

I'm not a big fan of the single brand ones. They get a bit samey by the 25th. I had lumene one year and while there were some lovely things in it, it all blended into one.

Me neither. I Googled it and still none the wiser.

I love Elemis but like you have just stuck to QVC deals, there's normally a good one in November just before my birthday which is handy as a present from DP! If I'm spending a lot on a calendar I prefer a mix of brands and having new things to try.

In my perfect Advent Calendar world I would have the F&B box and be able to fill it with my top picks from F&B, CB & Liberty. Maybe Flannels too. That would be my ultimate selection. Lots of gorgeous scents, lovely makeup and NO sleep masks, hair masks, face masks or any masks at all!

I had Look Fantastic last year and loved it. Will have a look but don't want to spend much more than that one.

Renu has her Liberty AC review out. The two scents and my Beauty Drop credit had really sold it to me, but Renu points out that there aren't actually many full size products.

I'm doing that with last years' box (and I would also be buying this years if I hadn't had that one)!

So far I have added a load of bits from my stash I'd forgotten about, some bits I like/use from Space NK and Superdrug, Percy Pigs & Reece's peanut butter cups and I've just ordered myself a book to go in 25, since it's a tall narrow one 😊

I'll have forgotten it all again by next week, so I'm not concerned about December 😂

@Housewife2010 I do like Renu’s reviews. I especially like that she doesn’t just gush ecstatically about every calendar like most others do. But over the years I’ve become less concerned than she is about everything being full size, as long as they are at least discovery/travel size rather than actual tiny samples.

It would be completely unrealistic (and also make little sense) to expect a 100ml perfume in a calendar. I’d be unimpressed with a 2ml perfume sample - because that is something you could get free at a perfume counter - but I’m delighted with 10ml or 15ml, as it’s enough to try and to enjoy, but not the end of the world if you decide you don’t like it. Similarly, 5ml of moisturiser is a sample, but 30ml when full size is 50ml? I’m more than happy with that. Also quite happy with small (but not tiny) candles, showers gels etc which are still enough for a few uses and for enjoying new scents.

I’ve also really enjoyed the BS products I’ve had previously - they’re ridiculously overpriced so I’d never buy them, but I’m quite happy to get something like a 10ml Vit C serum.

Which is all a very long winded way of saying the more I look at the Liberty contents the more I like it, and as I’ve never actually bought the Liberty advent calendar before I’m quite tempted (but will wait to see Harrods, Selfridges, Space NK, John Lewis and NAP before making any decisions).

@OchonAgusOchonOh I might need a spreadsheet! I’m clearly spending way to much time analysing it all anyway 😂
