Beauty Advent Calendars *spoiler alert - contents discussed within thread*

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 23/07/2022 12:26

Is it too soon for a thread on these? I remember last year they were all coming out or going on sale in September so not too far off.

I got the spacenk one last year and it was first ever beauty advent calendar and I loved it. Still using some of the products and have gone to purchase at least five items in full size, two of them multiple times.

This year I'll get the spacenk one again but might also go for the cult beauty as well.

Title amended by MNHQ to alert folk to the presence of spoilers within the thread.

That’s the best justification I’ve heard for buying one of these 😉

😄😄

I really would recommend the Diptyque calendar for feeling utterly luxurious though. The fragrances are gorgeous. It’s telling that it’s one of the calendars with no bullshit on the value of the contents!

Ducksinthebath · 17/08/2022 15:15

That Diptyque calendar looks amazing. Every year I want it but never buy it. This might be the year. And given the energy cost crisis, candles might be a smart move.

I like it!

loosebutton · 17/08/2022 20:25

The next one looks pretty good tbh

LondonWolf · 17/08/2022 21:39

Is there a date for the Clarin's advent calendar release does anyone know please? I checked my order history and I ordered it on 17th September last year so can't be far off?

doublecleansed · 18/08/2022 12:05

Liberty contents revealed...

The Peony Couture perfume is divine. I am still very sparingly using the one I have from three (?) years ago.

MidnightMeltdown · 18/08/2022 12:27

Liberty is definitely much better than last year's offering. It's a possibility for me. Waiting to see space nk.

KimmySchmitt · 18/08/2022 12:31

Thanks for sharing. Liberty's not for me (again) but hopefully will appeal to those looking for skincare. Quite a few haircare products too. I think it looks better than last year?

AprilLady · 18/08/2022 12:54

I agree the Liberty calendar looks a lot better this year. Really good to see different perfumes, bath oils and candles and even some brands I’ve never heard of before. And nice to see the (small) Beauty Drop discount too! Hopefully good news for all those saving their Beauty Drop credit for the calendar.

supadupapupascupa · 18/08/2022 13:13

Bingo! Liberty has come up trumps!!

Now let's hope Harrods is rubbish otherwise I'm in trouble.....

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 18/08/2022 13:14

I've been looking forward to the Liberty contents as it's one I've always wanted to try, it's definitely up there as a contender for me if no others match it.

Boppertini · 18/08/2022 13:25

Ugh! I wish Liberty didn’t look as good as it does as I’ve 1) convinced myself I shouldn’t get a calendar this year and 2) spent most of my beauty drop credit already!
Anyone who got the calendar previous years able to confirm if you get loyalty points when buying the calendar? Thinking that would add up to a voucher or two if so?
Here is how I’m now trying to convince myself that purchasing the calendar I a great idea:

  • While it’s £245 I would spend £190 (as there is a beauty drop discount and I have a little credit left).

  • There are some things I would buy regardless between now and Christmas that is included in the calendar. I would likely spend £20 on mascara, £20 on brow gel, £30 on hair treatments, £50 on exfoliating face masks, £20 on a new lip colour and £15 on body wash.

  • So reaaally then, I’m only spending an extra £35 for all the fun things in the calendar…

I’ll give myself a stern talking to but I may well end up buying it 😬

supadupapupascupa · 18/08/2022 13:29

I'm justifying it for similar reasons. Plus it's got plenty of serum which I'm short of in my stash. Last year I ended up with too much day cream.
Just looking for eye treatments now!

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/08/2022 13:44

I agree Liberty looks good.

I've just been on to them to confirm they will ship to Ireland this year as I don't want to add the items to my decision making spreadsheet unnecessarily. They do and they also randomly told me they will be shipping to Australia and Japan this year.

clary · 18/08/2022 14:04

@OchonAgusOchonOh your decision making spreadsheet I love it Grin

supadupapupascupa · 18/08/2022 14:07

You need a decision making spreadsheet! Absolutely!

wheresmyshoe · 18/08/2022 14:16

Well done to Liberty, it looks great this year!

Fleecy · 18/08/2022 14:18

I've been holding off on buying F&M because I have over £100 in Liberty beauty drop credit. I like the look of both calendars, so I'm going to plump for Liberty because of the credit and the £10 off.

Fleecy · 18/08/2022 14:19

@OchonAgusOchonOh - my husband would definitely approve. Spreadsheets for everything here Grin

PomRuns · 18/08/2022 14:44

Liberty out for me - waiting to see JL.
spreadsheet great idea 😊

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/08/2022 15:03

Surely everybody has a spreadsheet? I just need to colour code it now (yes, I really am that sad).

Mind you, I'm still rubbish at deciding, which is probably why I always end up with multiple calendars.

I have one row called "nonsense things you'll never use". It's specially for things like Gua Sha. Maybe I'll just decide any calendar with anything in that category is an automatic "no".

PomRuns · 18/08/2022 15:26

I have a section in my planner. I use a sundry heading for things like roller balls/ which I never use !

LoveLabradors · 18/08/2022 16:03

Liberty for me I think, unless Space NK is amazing. I am a sucker for nice mini candles 😂. I can use my beauty drop credit and my collective vouchers too so can kind of justify the whacking cost!

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/08/2022 17:13

It was the Gua Sha in LF that inspired the "nonsense you'll never use" heading. I might have gone for sundries or miscellaneous if the first bit of nonsense had been a roller ball.

AmethystMoonShine · 18/08/2022 17:28

I've just ordered the FM one - not had it before and unlike a lot of people on this thread I do like the brands included. I've not had FM before though so maybe that's why it appeals to me as some have said it's similar to previous years?
It also is mostly full sizes or at least decent sizes which a lot of others aren't.
I usually get the Marks and Spencer one (and still might) as the smaller sizes are useful for travelling.

Thanks for the tip off about the body shop ones on Brand Alley. I've ordered one for my DD, who will love having her own beauty advent for the first time.

I still can't quite believe I am thinking about these in August! I've only just spotted the thread as Ive been away for a bit and so had to catch up.
