Is this dress inappropriate for a wedding?

My boyfriend said he thinks this dress isn't appropriate for a wedding because it's red? This is new to me? The last two weddings we've been to I've wore red and he didn't say anything. So I'm just wondering what peoples thoughts are is this appropriate?

I don't know what thread this belongs in!

"Treasure doesn't always have to be on display. Sometimes it needs to stay in the vault."
Breasts in everyone's face and big flippy ,flappy sleeves will make you look a bit ' try hard'.

Do you really want to spend the evening with drunk people shouting 'oh lay' and stamping their feet everytime you go past.

Crystalvas · 25/06/2022 10:21

Is it a church wedding?

RudsyFarmer · 25/06/2022 10:22

If I saw you in this I would ABSOLUTELY think you were trying to upstage the bride.

Laquila · 25/06/2022 10:22

When I was a kid my mum and her friends/peers often used to get changed after the formal/more traditional day part of a wedding into something else "for the evening do", not sure why really. Maybe something to do with blending in more with evening guests, who were more likely to be in "night out" clothes rather than "wedding guest' clothes?

Regardless, that particular style isn't really my wheelhouse but we're all different, aren't we.

RoundaboutRacer · 25/06/2022 10:23

Is the wedding a friend of yours or a friend of his?

He's probably embarrassed to take you in something so "look at me" if he's the guest and you're a +1.

And who gets changed halfway through?! That's even more cringe.

If you've the figure and confidence for that red dress then there's literally thousands of beautiful, suitable options you could wear instead.

beeeeeeeeeeeeeeee · 25/06/2022 10:23

What did you wear to your last wedding op?

Bournetilly · 25/06/2022 10:23

Red is fine for a wedding.
The dress is awful and not appropriate for a wedding IMO, not even for the night do.

Ducksinthebath · 25/06/2022 10:25

Ay caramba!

Is the wedding’s theme flamenco floozies? 💃

Pipsquiggle · 25/06/2022 10:25

Wearing red is fine for a wedding.

That dress is not fine for a wedding particularly for a church wedding. Looks like a dress you would go out clubbing in when you're on holiday

Sally090807 · 25/06/2022 10:26

In that dress it looks like you’re trying to upstage the bride, maybe ok for the evening but I definitely don’t think it’s appropriate if you’re marrying in a church.
Maybe if it’s a beach wedding in the Caribbean and the bride is wearing something very revealing then it would be ok.
As someone else pointed out, it’s has cruise ship singer vibes.

Stravaig · 25/06/2022 10:27

The evening celebrations are still part of the wedding! Changing outfit is odd, unless you're the bride, or there's a practical reason. 'Look at me, everyone' doesn't qualify.

Babyroobs · 25/06/2022 10:27

It's certainly going to turn heads and draw attention to you when the bride should be the centre of attention.

Charlize43 · 25/06/2022 10:29

Is the wedding in Rio during the Carnival? Will you be wearing fruit on your head? I'm not sure what that dress is appropriate for...

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 25/06/2022 10:30

HollowTalk · 25/06/2022 09:16

Are you the groom's ex?

This made me chuckle

Alloftheboys · 25/06/2022 10:31

Which guest are you trying to piss off?

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 25/06/2022 10:31

That dress is not meant for a wedding, or at least a classy wedding. Its a trashy dress, for clubbing

SpaghettiNotCourgetti · 25/06/2022 10:34

I'm going to a wedding soon. If another guest wore that, I'd assume that they HATE the bride and are determined to upstage her, even if that does mean getting their castanets out.

That's not a euphemism, by the way.

KarlWrenbury · 25/06/2022 10:35

Aw. Sad this gentle teasing has got mean
sorry OP

Unless you are Flamenco dancer and providing the entertainment at the wedding, it is completely inappropriate...

I like red but find this extremely tacky.

jeffbezoz · 25/06/2022 10:40

The attention should be on the bride

DaphneSprucesPippasClack · 25/06/2022 10:41

Not wedding wear...

Bluevelvetsofa · 25/06/2022 10:41

I might think that you were on the lookout. It’s not suitable for any occasion, but definitely not a wedding, either for the service and reception, or during the evening. It screams ‘Look at me’ and that’s wrong.

Pipsquiggle · 25/06/2022 10:43

That dress is a classic shape and very flattering. Not 'showy'
