Is this dress inappropriate for a wedding?

My boyfriend said he thinks this dress isn't appropriate for a wedding because it's red? This is new to me? The last two weddings we've been to I've wore red and he didn't say anything. So I'm just wondering what peoples thoughts are is this appropriate?

I don't know what thread this belongs in!

Aw you have a lovely kind son.
He doesn't want to hurt your feelings but he will be embarrassed if you wore that dress at any time.
Save it for a party where your family isn't going.

Son?

Update I'm going with the dress 😂 I've asked a few of the lasses I know and they think it's very "weddingy" so maybe it's just the wrong forum for the dress? 😂

Go for it!

Scoobydoobydo · 26/06/2022 23:10

Is it a big fat gypsy wedding being held in Marbs?

Ababy0506 · 26/06/2022 23:12

@humanpotato wear the dress 👌🏽 I think it’s lovely 💯 you do you 🙌🏽

YellowSticker · 26/06/2022 23:12

No no no, not for wearing ever.
Admit it, You put this on here as a joke didn’t you?
No one would wear this - it’s red light district uniform.

Cherrysoup · 26/06/2022 23:17

Cheap, trashy, very attention seeking. Not classy, OP.

k1233 · 26/06/2022 23:20

I look at the sleeves and think they'll be annoying all night long and feel like they're constantly falling down. As much as I love red, I'm not a fan of the structure of the dress.

I'd had a look at the site you bought from and this came up as a suggestion. No idea why, but I really liked it. Very form fitting but you've got a great figure.

it’s a lovely dress, wear it! you go glen coco ❤️

Blacksheepcat · 26/06/2022 23:26

It’s not wedding attire.

CockSpadget · 26/06/2022 23:29

The dress looks stunning on you!

Tbh you know your crowd. You do you. You looked great in the other red dress and I'm sure you'll work this one. Those arm bits would drive me nuts though. I think that orange dress @DasAlteLeid posted would look amazing on you and also the green one @k1233 posted.

I snorted with laughter at one poster saying it had a "shag the groom on the alter vibe" to it but like I said you know your crowd.

Can you post a pic of yourself @LoisLane66 ? perhaps with your OH? That would be fun wouldn't it.

Fair play you've taken this thread in good spirit OP. Have a great time.

Phobiaphobic · 26/06/2022 23:53

Hell no.

TortieQueen · 27/06/2022 00:17

Its hideous. Reminds me of the cheap flamenco dancer dressing-up outfits kids wear. Please don't wear it.

Mamanyt · 27/06/2022 03:17

It's a gorgeous dress, however...the proper attire for ANY wedding is something which does you justice, indicates the importance of the occasion, and which does not take attention away from the bride. Of the three, that last one is probably the most important for this occasion.

If the dress suits you and fits like it was bespoke, by all means buy it for another occasion, even if you have to manufacture that occasion, and be the center of attention! But find something a bit less spectacular for the wedding.

Ddot · 27/06/2022 06:13

Not my style but wear for the party and get another for the ceremony ( please) it's just too much for a religious occasion and that way you get to gress up twice.

BronskiBeaten · 27/06/2022 07:35

If you wore that to my wedding I’d ask you to leave. It’s so inappropriate and looks like a fancy dress outfit and slutty. Modern day Pretty Woman (before she goes shopping!).

I'd crop you out all the photos if you turned up looking cheap and trashy like that. How selfish. I guess your "lasses" are also lacking in class. You might as well print a sign saying "look at me not the bride".

Totally agree. What shoes are you going to wear with that...platform heels? Please, be respectful to your friend and wear something more tasteful. Trust me, so many people will be talking about you behind your back.

That backfired didn't it? You've shown yourself to be a nasty bitch. Post a photo of yourself so we can all have a laugh, and then see how you feel.

I actually think either they have never been to a wedding or they're actually frenemies and are having a laugh.

You do look good in the first wedding dress. Second wedding dress looks less quality in the pic of you wearing it - doesn't look as good as the sales pic. And it definitely doesn't look like a dress to wear for a wedding unless you don't like the bride. It's nothing about your looks and everything about the style of dress.

ladydimitrescu · 27/06/2022 07:50

Some of the comments on this thread are fucking awful.
It's not slutty, op isn't attention seeking, or being cheap, or any of the other horrible things some have said.
Op your hair really suits you and you have a stunning figure, red is really lovely on you. I'm not a huge fan of the style of the dress, however I think If anyone can pull it off, you can!
The other dress you posted is amazing and looks stunning on you!

If you asked someone to leave over that, you'd look absolutely bat shit, and people would be talking about you being a crazy bridezilla far more than a dress one of your guests wore. Get a grip ffs.

humanpotato · 25/06/2022 10:37

I wore this sorta similar also not x

You seriously wore THAT to a friend's wedding???

You would ask someone to leave ??!! Your wedding ???!!!

When? OMG when ? At which point?

I'm seeing you as you walk down the aisle, spotting the red dress wearer "oi, you red dress, awttttttttt!!!!"

What a love you are. @BronskiBeaten

Obvs don't believe you.

Lovemusic33 · 27/06/2022 08:07

Some of the posts here are just nasty, this is exactly what’s wrong with society (mainly women), nasty comments aimed and someone you don’t know, judging them by what they wear and how they style themselves? I’m sure many are jealous because they can’t carry it off themselves or don’t have the conference to do so. Calling someone slutty, trashy or comparing them to something from “Gypsy wedding” is just pure nastiness.

OP, you look great in the dress, I hope you find somewhere to wear it if you decide not to wear it to the wedding, I’m sure what ever you decide to wear will look great on you too.
