Is this dress inappropriate for a wedding?

My boyfriend said he thinks this dress isn't appropriate for a wedding because it's red? This is new to me? The last two weddings we've been to I've wore red and he didn't say anything. So I'm just wondering what peoples thoughts are is this appropriate?

I don't know what thread this belongs in!

It got delivered today 😅

I changed my mind! You look gorgeous in it.

Forestgate · 26/06/2022 21:49

It looks like a giant vagina. Layers of labia 😂

gold22 · 26/06/2022 21:50

So many people saying it looks "tarty" what does that even mean? Are you saying by wearing that dress it makes her look like she's had sex with loads of people? Is there even something wrong with that even if she had?

Nomorefuckstogive · 26/06/2022 21:50

Red is fine, but this dress is totally inappropriate for a wedding. I think it looks a little tacky.

Pifflewiffle · 26/06/2022 21:50

That burnt orange one with the big bow from Shein is amazing. And the other Shein one too. I think you’d look great in both those OP. I do think the first one with the detachable sleeves is more nightclub than wedding somehow but you do look lovely in it.

Popsicle33 · 26/06/2022 21:54

It's fine if you're providing the cabaret 💃

Nomorefuckstogive · 26/06/2022 21:55

Op, you look beautiful in the red lace one. Hope I haven’t caused offence. The orange will look amazing on you, as others have said x

What a horrible comment. Shame on you.

humanpotato · 26/06/2022 22:17

Update I'm going with the dress 😂 I've asked a few of the lasses I know and they think it's very "weddingy" so maybe it's just the wrong forum for the dress? 😂

I wore this sorta similar also not x

@humanpotato

you look lovely here! Can you not just wear this dress again?

pkim123 · 26/06/2022 22:32

Gnusmas · 25/06/2022 09:02

I wouldn't wear that to a wedding because of the style rather than the colour. It's too revealing and eye catching so might take attention away from the bride.

agree, it's totally inappropriate. it's the bride's day, not yours

Unifrom · 26/06/2022 22:36

Mumsnet isn’t the forum for you! You are cool, young, edgy.. stay that way and don’t let anyone dull your sparkle 👑

rainbowlou · 26/06/2022 22:37

Some of these comments are absolutely horrible.
who the fuck uses the word ‘slutty’ ‘tarty’ or believes red means they’ve slept with the groom anymore?
Honestly I couldn’t tell you who wore what to my wedding. I didn’t actually care because I was just grateful they could come and was having too much fun.
One of my best friends said she only had a black dress that fitted her and did I mind her wearing it.
I couldn’t believe she felt she should ask.
op wear the dress if you feel good in it, you look great (so does your partner) and pay no attention to anyone frothing about ‘taking attention away’ from the bride (ffs).
I've been to so many weddings and never noticed the guests all gravitating towards a guest because of their outfit 😀😀
I hope the posters with that old fashioned attitude feel like absolute twats someday when they’ve had a word with themselves

Clyedey · 26/06/2022 22:38

As long as you're not wearing an actual wedding dress who cares?

I didn't give two stuffs what any of my guests wore. Bizarre thing to get offended by.

Totally up to you and maybe if your friends like it, the wedding crowd might be similarly minded if they’re the same age/demographic ☺️ have a great time!

munner · 26/06/2022 22:48

You go for it girl.

WakeyCakeyHeart · 26/06/2022 22:48

I wish I could get away with wearing that dress at a wedding in a couple of weeks.... wear it, walk tall and rock it :-)
Life is too bloody short so wear the red dress and fuck what anyone thinks :-)

Dasher789 · 26/06/2022 22:48

I wouldn't wear the dress and I don't particularly like it however, I think it looks fine on you and I don't see why you couldn't wear it to a wedding. Have a great time!

Hellomotto2 · 26/06/2022 22:49

a lot of the comments are coming across as jealous and bitter, judgemental and prudish! “I won’t show that much skin at a wedding” what is this, 1896?? Wear it with confidence OP, I’m sure you’ll look fab! and if you wearing a glam dress is enough to take “attention away from the bride” then there’s probably a load of boring bastards at the wedding, in which case don’t go! 😂

For the evening though?? TELL ME ITS FOR THE EVENING DO. Too many tits and bits for a wedding, honest.

The orange dress a PP posted would work though,

I've seen Loislane on other threads. There is something deeply wrong with them. Best to ignore those types.

JonesyPonesy · 26/06/2022 22:55

Aw you have a lovely kind son.
He doesn't want to hurt your feelings but he will be embarrassed if you wore that dress at any time.
Save it for a party where your family isn't going.
