Is this dress inappropriate for a wedding?

humanpotato · 25/06/2022 09:00

My boyfriend said he thinks this dress isn't appropriate for a wedding because it's red? This is new to me? The last two weddings we've been to I've wore red and he didn't say anything. So I'm just wondering what peoples thoughts are is this appropriate?

I don't know what thread this belongs in!

Yes

SherbertLemonDrop · 26/06/2022 20:40

Just seen the picture of you wearing it and completely changed my mind. You look amazing! 👏

Exdonkeylover · 26/06/2022 20:42

No, don't wear it. They say not to wear red to weddings as it stands out to much in the photographs.
Friends wedding had someone wearing red, it stood out in the photos like a sore thumb

Quicknamechangefortoday · 26/06/2022 20:43

loislane66 what a nasty spiteful individual you are. Did that make you feel better to make fun of someone?

Why are you so horrible?

Angrymum22 · 26/06/2022 20:50

Is it a themed wedding? “Strictly come dancing” immediately springs to mind.

Sorry, are you going to post a picture of yourself for us all to pass judgement and give our opinions? I'm assuming not

Quicknamechangefortoday · 26/06/2022 20:53

Yes it’s a themed wedding angrymum22. The theme is SCD and the priest is going to read the sermon in the style of Len Goodman. The OP told us that in her first post, don’t you remember? Gosh you are funny. You and all the other ‘is it a themed do?’ ‘Are you a flamenco dancer’ crowd. You could be on the stage!

Rubyroseyposey · 26/06/2022 20:55

I have bipolar, this is very much like the dress I manic bought at 3am to wear to paint my bathroom. Sorry not the answer you wanted but I look back on it and find it darkly amusing now 😅🤣

Barnybrown · 26/06/2022 20:57

What do you even mean - her hair and her boyfriend both look lovely , she is absolutely stunning ! I am not keen on the dress but I am almost 50 and have always been quite a boring dresser so who cares what I think about it - I certainly think whatever she wears she will look gorgeous. @LoisLane66 you sound like a horrible, jealous bitch.

mam0918 · 26/06/2022 20:57

Traditionally red means you slept with the groom.

Modern times most people dont care... I would play it by how the bride feels.

Quicknamechangefortoday · 26/06/2022 20:59

And wearing blue means the brides dad has ridden you like a pony whilst singing ‘horsey horsey, don’t you stop’ so be mindful of that as well OP.

easyday · 26/06/2022 21:02

The red dress could work without the sleeves, and a little boleto cover if it's a church wedding. It's the sleeves that are too Night out on the town rather than fir a wedding.
But the SHEIN dress is good.

I doubt that was ever true.

kateandme · 26/06/2022 21:03

The dress look gorgeous on you op
I have seen weddings where the guests wear these dresses.deff a younger crowd but still.mn sometimes can't handle anything that makes the unclench from their pearls.
I've deff seen it in alot of Latin and Italian weddings.and American.
But my very pawsh mate had a marquee in the Cotswolds and guests were wearing similar especially if they looked like you in it.and no due to all be.i g really close no-one felt anyone was out to out dress them.
And a fewwherethe whole wedding party went back up to the suites to get changed for the after party.and nope deff NOT chavs or
CHeap.
Be careful who and how my h you listen to ok and can wreck you.
Especially on here.rhere can be some days when the op doesn't flat and a chance and is decided on from the first post that they 're out to be gotten.

Perfectlystill · 26/06/2022 21:05

Not ok for a wedding.

Its a ridiclous looking dress for a wedding. And you never answered my question up thread by the way. No matter how many come on here and tell you otherwise. When I look at that dress I see someone who wants to show off her herself wants to be the center of attention.

Quicknamechangefortoday · 26/06/2022 21:21

crystalvas perhaps you could order her a an old cloth sack from Seasalt or Boden to wear on the day? Paired with a nice swishy scarf and some sensible walking boots? Hint of tinted moisturiser and some Vaseline to the lips and she’ll be grand. Why are you so angry at the OP, it’s just a dress 🤷🏽‍♀️

Quicknamechangefortoday · 26/06/2022 21:23

Oh hang on….i think everything is falling into place now crystalvas the stars have aligned to give me the answer 😉 Are you still cross about Naughty Boy being evicted from CBB by the way?

WhereIsVillanelleWhenNeeded · 26/06/2022 21:33

PinkSyCo · 26/06/2022 20:17

Too slutty for a wedding. Sorry.

So if she wears it what does that mean?
Like sorry makes the comment excusable.
She looks amazing, not slutty and won’t upstage the bride at all.

DangerouslyBored · 26/06/2022 21:34

The colour of the dress is gorgeous and really suits you but the material looks flammable and the detached arm ruffles.. I don’t really have any words for those atrocities Confused

kierenthecommunity · 26/06/2022 21:35

Well I’d never heard that thing about wearing red = slept with the groom, but after a third person trotted it out I googled and apparently it is a thing. On some places. And wearing purple means you’ve slept with the groom’s dad 😳

I’m more included to believe the first result that the Chinese consider it bad luck, so don’t wear it if your friends are Chinese OP 😊

Not in the spirit

kierenthecommunity · 26/06/2022 21:37

Or Indian for that matter, as then you may actually be upstaging the bride 😂

HumunaHey · 26/06/2022 21:41

Pathetic comment.

The original dress looked better on OP than in the link. Looked way OTT in the link. But I definitely think the dress a PP suggested is perfect and you said you love it, so definitely worth you asking on here despite some of the pathetically bitchy comments!
