@Snowyowl78 I have just bought the same dress. From recent experience expecting the size eight to be too large (I'm a 10/12 elsewhere) but we shall see.

Greenfinches · 13/07/2022 12:09

Don’t you just love those emails they send out with a nine-item capsule collection? The clothes look so tempting when they’re set out like that, as if ready to be packed for a long weekend. Today’s is Warm Apricot and if that was my colour and I was rich enough it would be such fun to order the whole lot. I worked out it would cost £1270! For some reason I always like things more when they are presented as a small, edited collection

Snowyowl78 · 13/07/2022 12:34

@TerrierOrTerror you might be in luck, the reviews suggested it wasn’t quite so roomy as usual, I think some people even said it was quite right across the shoulder/neck or I might have imagined that, dropped off the website now so can’t see reviews. I ordered the 12, IRL a 14.

Countmeout · 13/07/2022 15:30

I don’t have the lys shirt @dudsville but the fabric in the white shirt is quite substantial. It does wash well though , which worried me if it would. I sized down. I felt my normal toast size would be enormous.

have resisted all.
not terribly inspired by the new offerings but I did like the colours in the email.

AmethystMoonShine · 13/07/2022 16:11

That’s good to know @pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs in looking forward to it arriving. I’ve got two sizes on the way as reviews say it comes up large. I’m normally a 10 in Toast dresses but have also ordered an 8 but can’t see that it will fit me!

dudsville · 13/07/2022 19:24

That's good to know @Countmeout ! The lys is so light it's actually wonderful for both intense heat and layering because its like nothing's there. But i got it in my usual size and it is very spacious in a way that wouldn't work at all with the fabric in the white version.

Does anyone have the Jessa denim dungarees? When i did my clearout i found my one pair of dungarees that i loved but grew out of. They were similar to toast version in a few ways. I'm wondering how the dungarees work with substantial bottom halves.

TheChattyRat · 13/07/2022 20:20

@dudsville ive tried the Jessa in a few sizes (via eBay so don’t know if the fit has changed over the years) but I found like a lot of toast stuff they are cut for a long torso. So I had to really shorten the straps but I also found the bib itself too big for my body - it seemed to gape.
I realise my review is pretty negative but I think dungarees are v individual as have to fit the whole body in one item. They do get rave reviews from some people.
I am about 5’6/7 and they were ankle length.

TheChattyRat · 13/07/2022 20:24

I’ve missed a lot of the final sale madness posts! That is usually how I am with the sale too - restrained at first but throwing caution to the wind by the end!

But I was pleased to score a square collar blouse at the cheaper price. Hoping it’s a goodie.

I’d like to try the sale linen dungarees if they come back into stock.

Not seen much I like in new in 😓

dudsville · 13/07/2022 20:39

Any review is a helpful one @TheChattyRat ! I once measured myself, I'm nearly bang on 50/50 half torso half legs, so the longer body might be a benefit. I usually find with this kind of item that when i sit down there's not enough in the upper half and as a result the fabric gets far too personal!

dudsville · 13/07/2022 20:45

I just find it unhelpful on the toast pages that people say "a 10 fit just fine", etc., i want to know if you're a pear, apple, hour glass and whether you normally buy a 14 in toast clothes but this item was different.

dudsville · 13/07/2022 20:47

That did not come out right, i meant toast website, not this thread!

dudsville · 13/07/2022 21:04

I bit the bullet and transformed my too-heavy denim wrap dress into a pinafore this evening. It's lighter and a cute, neater fit, I'm really pleased with it. Just need to finish some hand stiching around a pocket but I've lost my thimble. Looking forward to wearing it once the temp cools.

Snowyowl78 · 13/07/2022 21:11

@dudsville i agree you want to know how the fit compares to normal sizing, not if people are happy with their choices. That said I have no clue if I have a short/long torso / long arms/ short legs etc so this kind of thing confuses me as well. Maybe I should get the measuring tape out- what’s normal though?

dudsville · 13/07/2022 21:24

😂I honestly can't remember what on earth could have made me measure this but it did help be understand why dungarees and jumpsuits don't work on me.

Greenfinches · 14/07/2022 11:59

I am shorter than average from waist to crotch and it makes it really difficult to find trousers that fit - there’s always too much fabric in the waist area, especially with high-waisted cuts. I’m pear-shape too, which exaggerates the effect. Another thing about being short-waisted is that tops are often a bit too long and just don’t hang right. Toast’s A-line dresses and pinafores are one solution, and they usually have a few shorter-length tops and sweaters. I also find that if reviews say that trousers have a tight waistband it sometimes means they will work for me.

ScottishMouse · 14/07/2022 14:59

Well the blue and green sale pinafores arrived and are going straight back. They are a little too neat on the bust, but massively a-line in the skirt part. The belt did nothing for me, but unbelted looked ridiculous. Also the pockets stick out like crazy. So nothing like the slate cotton linen pinafore of dreams. Ah well, worth a try.
That is it now, I am done with the sale. There is only one thing I would place another order for, and that hasn’t made a reappearance since the very first day of the sale.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 14/07/2022 15:31

Really disappointed with my sale pyjamas, the ginkgo print fit well but the drawstring ties at the side so consequently the non-elasticated waistband is also at the side, for me I felt the elastic on my stomach would be too uncomfortable in pyjamas. The seersucker check are good on the bottom but the top is enormous and needs to be a least one size smaller. So unhappily both pairs are going back. Plus of course the pair of painted falls pyjamas that were in my package that I didn’t order and wasn’t charged for.
All I’ve kept out of the order is the homeware but I’m happy with those pieces.

Stoic123 · 14/07/2022 16:39

@ScottishMouse - am very curious about the one thing.... 😀

Stoic123 · 14/07/2022 16:41

(being nosy)

TheChattyRat · 14/07/2022 16:44

Me too 😁 (about the one thing)

dudsville · 14/07/2022 17:05

Ha ha, me three! What was it?

Countmeout · 14/07/2022 17:06

I have a one thing. I think it was in the sale the first day but I was on holiday. I have it in the yellow and love everything about it. I would have loved to try the blue lace yolk jumper.
All finished now anyway. And did I imagine it or was there supposed to be a video today but then there wasn’t?

dudsville · 14/07/2022 17:06

I seem to be channeling my inner @Countmeout and I've ordered the vest to see if i can pull that off with the white top!

Stoic123 · 14/07/2022 17:17

@Countmeout - I managed to grab hold of the blue yolk lace jumper.

My one thing was the Japanese trousers.

Stoic123 · 14/07/2022 17:18

Oops - yoke. Would love an edit function.
