How gorgeous does the duchess of Cambridge look

Dazzling Kate Middleton joins William at Top Gun: Maverick premiere mol.im/a/10834371 via dailym.ai/android

She is clearly not underweight at all. Those are not the legs of someone with an eating disorder or someone very frail or ill.

Thinner than Emma who's a very slim 18 year old athlete

fellrunner85 · 20/05/2022 23:33

I think Kate looks great on the tennis photos. Fit and strong and yes, very slim, but there's a healthy "glow" about her. She looks significantly thinner now, 10 months on, than she did then.

OverByYer · 20/05/2022 23:42

I thought she looked fabulous at the premiere. Loved her earrings.
she is not too thin at all, she is someone who is both naturally slim and sporty so is slight but muscular. I think she looks great at 40

Have you see the photos of her age 19/20
What you say doesnt stack up

OliveTreees · 21/05/2022 01:45

@OverByYer Kate is not naturally skinny! In all the pictures in her late teens or early 20s she’s slim and healthy but nowhere near as skinny as she is today. On these pictures she probably weighs at least 10
more kilos than she weighs today.
It is very obvious she’s on some very restrictive diet (to be fair I would probably do the same if I was constantly under the spotlights).

LilythePunk · 21/05/2022 07:02

I really like her . She’s must be under a lot of strain with everything that’s going on in the family. Her role is changing and she and William need to be filling in for the Queen and stepping into a King and Queen in waiting situation. There has been no real interest in the recent overseas tours with Charles and Camilla, or Sophie and Edward. However every time W and K appear, it’s in the media. They must be very aware of the Queen’s failing health and what that means.

The pressure and strain must be unimaginable. Coupled with speculation about William’s ‘affair’ and the recent booing of him, their lives must feel very constricted and the freedoms they might have had are disappearing fast. They are apparently due to move to London from Norfolk also.

In addition, I shouldn’t think they’re looking forward to H and M rocking up soon . The attention that will generate will be a mixed bag. The book and Netflix documentary will add more fuel to the fire. It’s a shit show.

Classicblunder · 21/05/2022 07:13

It's true that we have got used to people being overweight and dress sizes have expanded.

It's also true that Kate is underweight.

There isn't really a direct link between them. TBH, I always suspect that posters who try to claim otherwise have eating disorders - they are probably the same people who are on other threads saying that they ate a whole cucumber yesterday and are now stuffed.

In photos of her on her own, she looks slender but maybe ok but it's when you see her next to other very slim women - Nicole Kidman, Emma Raducanu, Meghan, even her sister - that you can see it.

Sceptre86 · 21/05/2022 07:20

I like the outfit, I thought it was more figure hugging, more daring than she usually goes. At most normally she has a high slit and one leg semi out. As for her weight not my business. She is one of the most photographed people in the world, its a lot of pressure.

No. I'm overweight now and personally am glad of the vanity sizes which apply now. I was almost as slim as Kate until around mid 30s, eating normally but unlike Kate doing no sport or exercise. I had years of (fat) people telling me I was too thin.

Yes agree with this.

I agree with this too. Yes I think we have got used to people being bigger, but that doesn't really alter the fact that objectively Kate is very very thin. Personally I think she is probably 'underweight', no idea what she weighs though obviously, but she may prefer to be that way. I do think she looks fit and healthy though and it's possible to be over or underweight and also be fit and healthy, mainly because BMI is a pretty poor measure of anything. I think she would get huge amounts of criticism if she dared to be overweight (look at Fergie and she wasnt as famous, nor was she especially big) so it wouldn't surprise me if she keeps her weight low deliberately.

Tryhard40 · 21/05/2022 09:43

She’s stunning IMO. A genuinely beautiful woman. Yes she probably has a bit of Botox but meh, so do I. As my Df always says “a beautiful woman is always a beautiful woman”.

JenniferBarkley · 21/05/2022 09:49

Yes I agree too. She used to be slim. Now she's very very thin and if she was my loved one I would be worried.

CrabPuff · 21/05/2022 10:22

i don’t think pics of her at uni are representative. I put on at least a stone and a half at uni and so did most of my friends, it’s what the Americans call the Freshman 15.

you can see by her mum and sister that slimness and/or discipline run in the family. Add being in the public eye constantly, it’s not surprising that she is on the lower end of the BMI. She’s obviously fit though.

I agree with this, I can’t understand the posters who say she’s very plain. What?!

Cazziebo · 23/05/2022 14:30

Geez. She's very toned. Not skinny.

But probably appears skinny to Brits as more than 60% of the UK population are overweight. FWIW I am a normal size 10 (I would probably be a size 12 in the 70s). I am continuously told I am too skinny - often by strangers. Very wearing.

5128gap · 23/05/2022 15:40

There must be some absolutely stunning middle aged women on this thread if their bar is so high they think she looks bad! Someone even described her as 'haggard'! 😂
Yes she's thin, and a long black column dress takes even more weight off, but she looks toned, healthy and glowy to me.
I know she has every advantage, but there is no way you could stand her next to the average woman of her age in the street and not find her appearance pretty fabulous by comparison.

Classicblunder · 23/05/2022 15:56

I think plain/haggard is harsh but I don't think she is beautiful either, just pleasant looking, I wouldn't particularly notice her if I walked past her in the street except for how thin she is.

I think many women could look as good with her resources. It's not just about the personal chef, personal trainer, hairdresser etc, it's also about never having to worry about anything - if she wants to go for a run, there is a nanny available, she isn't having to spend time working, doing the laundry, cleaning the house, figuring out what her kids are going to wear for world book Day etc

No, she has to appear perfect ALL the time. Bright, shiny, enthusiastic and happy. She can’t have an off day, ever. She can’t not appear because she’s feeling under the weather or has had a row with William. She can’t express honest opinions about controversial topics in public.
She has to be very, very guarded about who she chooses as friends and who she can trust.
She can’t relax in her own home because there are always staff watching and listening.
Her children’s safety and security must be a constant concern. Any friends they have must have to be carefully vetted. If they visit she must appear to be super Mum.
Literally the only people she can trust are her immediate family and a small number of friends.
If she slips up, the danger is everyone will know and gleefully report on it.
In the future it will all become even more demanding and restrictive.
Add to that the constant nastiness in the media and lies being told about her marriage, to which she can’t reply. Hell on earth I would say.

sammylady37 · 23/05/2022 16:26

She can have many off days, all the days she has no engagements. Check the court circular, she can have more off days than on days.

She can’t not appear because she’s feeling under the weather or has had a row with William

Of course she can ‘not appear’ if she’s sick, and I do recall her pulling out of engagements because of illness.

And not appearing because she’s had a row with her husband? Really? Who thinks that’s an appropriate thing to do, cancel work because of a marital tiff? But of course, were she to do just that, what would happen? Very little of consequence, tbh. Would there be a waiting room of sick patients go unseen? No. Would hundreds of employees salary payments not go through? No. Would court sittings be deferred? No. Would bins go uncollected? No. Would school children have no teacher for the day? No. The worst would be that some royalists would be disappointed at not seeing her. And it’s not like her income or position would be in jeopardy, she isn’t at risk of broke fired for non-attendance, is she?

sammylady37 · 23/05/2022 16:26

*being fired, not broke fired, obviously

She’s on public display in front of millions of people. It’s not the same as any other job in that sense. Every single fleeting expression, spot, grimace or sigh is visible.
By off day, I mean feeling unwell, tired or not wanting to go out. I also imagine she only cancels if she is really ill.
