I don’t particularly like this dress, she has looked better in others - but those earrings! Wow

PeaHenChic · 20/05/2022 11:18

It’s a Roland Mouret dress timesarechanging but she does wear a lot of Jenny Packham too.

Her face looks pretty botoxed - you can see the tell tale signs

What are the telltale signs of Botox?

Herewegoagain84 · 20/05/2022 11:33

I think she’s suddenly looking really old, especially round the eyes. And just so thin. I hope she’s ok.

garlicandsapphires · 20/05/2022 11:36

My god I would hate to be her. It makes me feel panicky juts imagining it. I wonder if she ever regrets it?

NaturalScone · 20/05/2022 11:51

Sorry wont click DM link.

Fuck Dat!

Boood · 20/05/2022 12:09

A woman’s place is in the wrong.

I’m not a big fan of black dresses, and I prefer the bouncy wavy hair, but she looked fab anyway. I don’t see any desperation in her, and certainly not as much as in the posts determined to find something to slag off.

mistermagpie · 20/05/2022 12:39

Too thin is a weird concept - too thin for what? To hold her head up? To go to a red carpet event?

She is very thin and that's nothing to do with the fact that we are used to seeing bigger bodies, in my opinion. I actually have a similar build to her, I'm tall and quite athletic and my BMI is just under 20. She is a fair bit thinner than I am, so I can't believe she has a BMI in the healthy range. That said, she wouldn't be able to do lots of exercise, which she clearly does, if she didn't eat. Eilidh McColgan is interesting on this topic, she gets a lot of backlash for being 'too thin' but she has pointed out that she simply couldn't train for and win races if she was undernourished. Some people are just thin. I think Kate looks great and she works at it, which is what most of us would do too, in her shoes.

I feel the same. Nothing in the world would make
me Want to live that life.

For people saying we've normalised being fat and people were "smaller" back in the day. Well, they were indeed smaller BUT they were also shorter so it would make sense that they should wear smaller sizes then. If you're taller you should be "bigger" - I'm not saying "fat" but you should have wider hips for example.
It's not realistic to be a foot taller than your nanna and expect to be able to wear the same clothes. People were also undernourished then and now we've gone overboard and have access to too much (not so great) food (with plastic in it!).
Plus, let's not forget all the food-related marketing we're bombarded with daily and that we don't even notice...
P.S. I agree Kate's too thin and I think it comes from working out too. Working out is a cheap and very effective way to improve our mental health, maybe she's compensating for something? She has the pretty clothes, the chef and the nanny but is she happy? Nobody's happy 24h a day, every day, the whole year.

I do love that when there’s a discussion on BMI at the larger end of the spectrum plenty of people pipe up with oh but I’m not fat even though I have an overweight BMI, it’s a flawed measure, etc. But when it comes to slim it’s always apparently unhealthy.

mowglika · 20/05/2022 13:20

She looks gorgeous, her hair looks perfect for the outfit, sleek and shiny and the middle parting suits her

I agree. As I said, my BMI is just under 20 but I'm fitter than most of the women I know who are my age (42) and have carried three children so am clearly not unhealthily thin. But on those posts about 'what do you weigh at such and such height' people will describe a weight like mine as skeletal or looking ill or gaunt or whatever.

Kate is thin but she looks really healthy to me and she's under an incredible amount of pressure where her looks are concerned, so clearly takes care of herself.

fellrunner85 · 20/05/2022 13:24

On previous threads like this I've defended the DoC, saying people are too quick to say she's "too thin", you wouldn't call people "too fat", etc. I'm a size 8, I run ultras, and I've had people calling me gaunt before. It's not pleasant.

But then I saw Kate in person for the first time last week, and I was a bit shocked. Either the camera adds pounds or she's lost a lot of weight recently, but she was the thinnest person I've ever seen in real life. And I spend my life surrounded by marathon runners. She's significantly thinner IRL than Eilish McColgan, for example, who a pp mentioned. I did wonder if she isn't well.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 20/05/2022 13:26

She must be incredibly thin in real life. I saw Zara face to face at the weekend, and was amazed by how much slimmer she looks in real life, wearing normal clothes. She looked really lovely, slim but healthy and fit. If you look at photos of the two women together Kate is much thinner and extrapolating that must mean that Kate is worryingly thin in real life. Of course some people are naturally very thin and can be thin while eating a normal healthy diet, I hope that she is one of them but as she looks thinner that she did 20 years ago it suggests she is managing her weight to an extent.

torfa · 20/05/2022 13:35

I really like the dress but I think black is a tricky colour to wear for most people - especially as we get older. I'm early 40s and have noticed recently that black near my face make me look tired and drawn so I'm consciously wearing less on my top half (I need dark colours on my bottom half as I'm a pear!)

I think she looks fab in bright/light colours but I don't think black really works for her.

ThePoetsWife · 20/05/2022 13:39

@HistoricMoment - her eyebrows are looking a bit like Spock's brows and are a bit wonky. Very smooth and shiny forehead (which was lined) and nose wrinkles when she smiles.

MistySkiesAreGone · 20/05/2022 13:44

Botox and that eyebrow thing - what is it called again where you have them temporarily tattooed - are very in at the moment. I don't love the eyebrows - she had nice eyebrows already, but each to their own. The dress is nice but not as wow as others she has worn. She looks better in summer colours. I want to know what she does to have a body like that - I am guessing she must be hitting the reformer pilates hard.

Oceanus · 20/05/2022 13:57

@ThePoetsWife and @MistySkiesAreGone She has every right to do botox, but botox or no botox, her eyebrows and uneven. She has sb to do her makeup surely, why not fix it for this event?
What's really sad though is that sb has all this dosh and they still can't seem to find a good doctor to work on their face.

asparalite · 20/05/2022 13:59

I'm no fan of the Royals, so probably a bit biased in my comments.
Wouldn't most people given all her privileges and ability to have the absolute best of everything look amazing?
Yes clearly her genes predispose her to be ultra slim which makes her perfect for her public facing role, and she always looks very polished and well turned out, but for me her clothes are mainly unremarkable and a very safe choice.

Where did you see her , out of curiosity?

alphons · 20/05/2022 14:18

Argh!! Why are people always obsessed with weight and size??! So the woman’s thin - what of it?! I’m sure she’s got doctors readily available to advise her of the health implications, if she needs advice.

I just don’t get why it’s weight rather than say height or style or thickness of hair or posture or whatever else that people ALWAYS gravitate to. Fat or thin, chubby or skinny - just what’s so fascinating about any of these options???

LilythePunk · 20/05/2022 14:18

Kate is very much thinner than she was before she married. I think she looked much better then.

Is she? That's interesting. I'm used to seeing Eilish (in photos and on tv) in hardly any clothes I suppose, so you can see how thin she is, but Kate is always covered up.
