@ScottishMouse, I wouldn't say that it is itchy, no. I haven't tried the dress version but looking at the photos I would imagine that this top is similar - a slimish fit on the bodice but flaring out and, of couse, the volumous sleeves which are what makes it a statement piece.

The sleeves are cut at least an inch in from the edge of the shoulder which makes the appearance of the bodice narrower and, in my opinion, flattering. You would need to size down by one size, maybe two if you have a very small bust. I can DM you a photo or are you on our Facebook page?

ToastCosILoveIt · 16/03/2022 19:05

Alo, as one of the reviews says, it is black and ecru (not white) so it is quite muted in colour.

ToastCosILoveIt · 16/03/2022 19:09

That dress is lovely @faustina, but which size to order? I have sometimes been an 8 in Kin...

faustina · 16/03/2022 19:11

@ToastCosILoveIt - it looks generous don't you think? And it has a dropped waist. I'd try smaller

ScottishMouse · 16/03/2022 19:12

Thanks @ToastCosILoveIt. Yes, I’m on the fb page.

ToastCosILoveIt · 16/03/2022 19:16

Okay, will post a picture on FB.

ScottishMouse · 16/03/2022 19:19

Fab, thanks @ToastCosILoveIt!

@faustina

Forgot to mention! They're the alix gingham trousers!
I had a pair of Sophia jeans from M&S that did that. Within a few steps the outside seam on the right leg had twisted round to the front. I spent the day tugging them back into place. I did get a refund but obviously as they’d been worn had to take them into store and the assistant suggested I might have an odd leg 😂
TempleofZoom · 16/03/2022 20:55

@faustina

Forgot to mention! They're the alix gingham trousers!
Oh dear! These were the wierd bulge trousers I tried on when they first came out. They need to sort this out.
faustina · 16/03/2022 21:04

@ilovecherries - you had the wrong kind of leg ffs! Like I had the wrong kind of shoulder with that Toast coat. Why do people do that kind of thing??

I had forgotten about the bulge issue @TempleofZoom!

AFingerofFudge · 17/03/2022 06:29

@faustina I also have the gingham Alix, I wore them last week in Ireland. I don't think they hang weirdly like yours, but I shall be trying them on when I get home from work later just to double check

FiddleFigs · 17/03/2022 09:23
@FiddleFigs, I love the Marylebone store but, as @Countmeoutsays, I think the Nottinghill store may be bigger. The Toast shops I frequent are all small - Islington, Hampstead, Marylebone and Cambridge. I also went to the Kings Road a few weeks ago and that was small too. They can be very limited in the sizes they have available in store so if you have your heart set on trying something perhaps ring ahead?

The Tangram dress is going back. I ordered a 10 and am a busty 12 (high street). It fitted well apart from a minute pull between one of the buttons at the bust line. However, when I put it on it didn't flatter my colouring (pale and blonde). It is also fairly roomy below the waist. It is going back.

The gingham cotton wool top also arrived in a 10 and a 12: the 10 is good and I will wear it with jeans, cropped black trousers and the black playsuit from last autumn.

They did sent me a lovely silk neckerchief in navy (black?), khaki and rust which I am wearing now with the micro gingham jumpsuit from last summer. It is very nice.
Thank you @ToastCosILoveIt and @Countmeoutsays. Looks like I'll be heading to Notting Hill!

My usual stores are Islington and Cambridge too, which I love but often don't have my size.

Gonegrey31 · 17/03/2022 09:38

The Italian cotton/linen shirt seems to have disappeared from the website - not that I was going to buy it at the high price (think it was £225 or something) - is it possible that it has sold out? I have been wearing the earlier less expensive version in blue a lot, it makes a lovely jacket as well as a shirt. I am hoping that the slate colour shirt might feature in a future sale (probably delusional however...)
Anyone seen it in a store?

ScottishMouse · 17/03/2022 09:54

I have seen it @Gonegrey31. It’s lovely. Much softer fabric than the cheaper version though, I feel like it is definitely more of a shirt and less of a jacket for that reason.

ScottishMouse · 17/03/2022 09:55

Do you mean this one? If so it’s still there, and still £215!

Saurus72 · 17/03/2022 11:33

There are a few new dresses on the website today - this is pretty nice, lovely for hot days www.toa.st/products/fine-crinkle-check-cotton-dress-slate-ecru

Gonegrey31 · 17/03/2022 11:43

Oh thanks ScottishMouse not sure how I missed it ( still not going to buy it at that price though !)

ScottishMouse · 17/03/2022 13:16

That is very nice @Saurus72. I also really like this one:

Can’t see anything else new in the other sections. I was intrigued by the Ikat stripe jacket pictured (badly) in the catalogue that was sent out recently. I thought it might be like the Kantha jackets. I asked online and they said it is coming next month and is 108cm in length, which seems almost knee length. I wonder if it is more like a dressing gown.

NoCureForLove · 17/03/2022 14:02

I've just tried on and bought this

www.toa.st/products/seersucker-check-cotton-dress-navy-chestnut

Very nice. I sized down one from normal Toast size as the V was too low otherwise.
Very nice fabric and well cut. Sleeves statementy but not ridiculous. Clever seams on bodice for flattering shape.

FiddleFigs · 17/03/2022 14:57

I saw that on the Toast Mayfair Instagram this morninig - it's lovely! Definitely on the wishlist!

Countmeout · 17/03/2022 15:41

Has a few reductions popped up on anyone’s pages. 🤭

faustina · 17/03/2022 16:14

Yes they have! I've ordered the rubber tapered trousers in case they're any good - thank you @Countmeout!

ScottishMouse · 17/03/2022 16:42

Has anyone got this jacket from last year?Would like to order but sizing is a gamble, as always. Reviews suggest it’s big, but I’m just not sure whether to size down or not.

Countmeout · 17/03/2022 16:44

Oh I tried those @faustina. I’ll be interested to see how you find them. I think we’re the same height. They didn’t work for me which is why I was so anxious for the Brass Alix to appear.
