Oh wow I literally ordered a jacket this morning that’s now popped up in the sale! Reordered!

faustina · 17/03/2022 17:04

@Countmeout was it the waist being too tight ( my problem with their fixed waist trousers)?
What have you ordered?

Nanasueathome · 17/03/2022 17:08

End of winter sale…online only

Ugh..the items I want/need are not in the sale

ToastCosILoveIt · 17/03/2022 17:13

Just came on to say the sale is on, picked up some PJs, the alpaca cardie I have lusted after forever and the gingham wool top - will send the one that arrived yesterday back.

FiddleFigs · 17/03/2022 17:17

I picked up the cotton twill dart trousers in olive. Hope the length is good (I'm a bit on the tall side for Toast trousers), but I love the shape.

Laska2Meryls · 17/03/2022 17:19

Nothing I want in the sale ( luckily!) .. its a bit of a poor offering..

ScottishMouse · 17/03/2022 17:22

If that is the grey cardi with the cable down the sleeve @ToastCosILoveIt, I can highly recommend it. It is so cosy and I have worn mine loads.
I also ordered the gingham top based on your recommendation yesterday! I’ve gambled on the size so who knows.
I ordered the brown coloured ridiculously expensive (even in the sale) cashmere wool sweater. I saw it on a shop assistant some months ago and it looked fab.
And I ordered the waxed swingy jacket in two sizes because I have no idea how it might fit. I have a feeling I might have tried it last year and not liked it though 🙄

ToastCosILoveIt · 17/03/2022 17:23

@ScottishMouse, a friend of mine has that jacket and she looks fab in it. I would have bought it if she didn't have it. I don't know what size she has I am afraid but I suspect that it comes up slightly big.

Countmeout · 17/03/2022 17:24

@faustina. I sized down as per the reviews. They fitted nicely on the waist and hips but I felt they were too long on me and too wide ( because they were too long) lovely colour though. The length may be better for @FiddleFigs. I wanted them to be the length of the brass Alix on me.

TerrierOrTerror · 17/03/2022 17:24

I've ordered a few bits - I'm a real fan of the cord so for me it's a fairly good offering. I have worn the green needlecord skirt at least once a week since I bought it at the start of the year.

ToastCosILoveIt · 17/03/2022 17:26

@ScottishMouse, yes, that is the one. I did try it on instore a few months ago after I saw the sales assistant wearing it. She looked so good in it i had to try it as it would never have appealed to me from the website. I agree, it is lovely and soft, can't wait to wear it in the colder spring days.

ScottishMouse · 17/03/2022 17:31

I would wear it more if i could figure out what to wear under cardigans @ToastCosILoveIt! I don’t wear a lot of dresses, so I usually just have it on with a tshirt or white shirt under, but I need some other tops that are more interesting.
The gingham top would work well under it, although of course the sleeves would be hidden (but would fit as the sleeves of the cardi are quite wide).

ToastCosILoveIt · 17/03/2022 17:34

@ScottishMouse, the sales assistant was wearing it with a white teeshirt and some toast trousers. I'm not sure what I will wear it with: i do have a lot of (toast) dresses so I guess that's how i will wear it. The sales assistant said to me that she didn't think it would ever go into the sale because it was so popular and was one of their 'classics". I have had it in my basket so many times but couldn't bear to pay the full price.

i hope your gingham top works out for you: let me know how you get on.

ScottishMouse · 17/03/2022 17:38

I didn’t quite pay full price for it (I had a 15% discount code for something they messed up). But it has been worth every penny.

Countmeout · 17/03/2022 17:57

I bought nothing (polishing halo) missed that part of the question @faustina. I was wandering round the site trying to talk myself into/out of the Ash shirt in the new colour way that has appeared as it was such a lovely cut in peach but a dreadful colour in real life on me.

ilovecherries · 17/03/2022 18:10

Well, I went completely and utterly to hell. Haven’t been spending at all other than on dog and car but bought the alpaca yoke jumper in green and the alpaca grey cardi plus the gingham shirt. I just washed an alpaca fairisle jumper from last year for the first time nd it has come up so beautifully I couldn’t resist. And they will keep me very warm next winter.

dudsville · 17/03/2022 18:47

I just came on to say hello to my "toast when there's a sale" friends! You guys don't have tempt me with your purchases!

Anyway, sale! How exciting. I've been waiting for those brown cords so I'm thrilled they were in the sale. I'm usually a 14 but they were sold out. I've been losing weight, fx the 12 fits. I also bought the cotton pecan and the cord in ginger trousers out of curiosity, as well as the alabaster cotton long shirt. I've recently been looking to buy a few of these style of blouse (awaiting a cos delivery) for spring layering. I've got some new cardigans (awaiting arket delivery) for spring so I'm hoping these will go nicely together.

A very haiku shopping to you all, and may I say to the one who bought the check trousers a few pages back, I thought they looked fab on you and I added them to my saved list as a result. Did you keep them?

faustina · 17/03/2022 18:53

@ilovecherries - that isn't going completely to hell, that is a wise investment for the future.

If I didn't still have jumpers unworn from the winter sales I might have been tempted by that alpaca yoke jumper too

@Countmeout - it sounds as if the rubber trousers will be too long for me - worth a try though!

@dudsville - what a haul! I really like the earth cords too, but they didn't have my size. Would love to see a pic when they arrive

dudsville · 17/03/2022 21:52

I will faustina!

Is anyone signed up for the Toast still life drawing class on Tuesday? I signed up for a laugh. I can't draw but I thought it might be fun.

Snowyowl78 · 18/03/2022 05:50

There’s a couple of heavily reduced Toast skirts on JL now if anyone is the early bird!

dudsville · 18/03/2022 15:24

I saw those skirts too @Snowyowl78, I'm not a fan of asymmetry and the fabric but they're a great purchase for the right person! I've got the delivery notice for my toast purchases (as week as the cos and arket ones) looking forward to next week!

MrsCat1 · 18/03/2022 15:36

I paid a little visit to the Toast shop in Richmond yesterday. Just passing by... Some lovely things and very nice staff. I've just booked a holiday in Italy for May and so bought this dress. The yellow is lemony rather than very mustardy so it works for me. Was very tempted by the lovely yellow wool and cotton cardigan but maybe that's yellow overload! Smile

dudsville · 18/03/2022 17:02

I love that dress @MrsCat1, I'm worried the sleeves won't suit me they're similar to the red check dress from last year, but I will try it at some point.

Stoic123 · 18/03/2022 22:02

@MrsCat1- thought that dress was lovely when I saw it in a shop. Looks better in real life than online.

Not my colours but looked gorgeous on the friend I was shopping with.

ScottishMouse · 19/03/2022 11:51

My sale parcel arrived (paid for next day as I will be out at work every day next week and can’t get to the post office to collect).
Everything is going back. ☹️
The gingham top with the statement sleeves looks utterly ridiculous on me. The sleeves on the brown jumper are way too long and even turned up look silly. And the wax jacket is just odd - very wide raglan sleeves and very a-line but a little too neat at the bust for me in the 8, but just way too big all over in the 10.
I will be bringing them all back to the store later sadly. The last return I sent by post has got lost somewhere and I am struggling to get refunded, so I will be doing all returns to store for the foreseeable.
I hope everyone else is more successful.
