I've been to a few TOAST Circle events and hoping there will be another near me soon. They are great!

I think there are some happening in the summer?

TheChattyRat · 20/05/2022 20:17

Toast circle sounds good and you got a good haul @ShangPie
I usually sell one my unworn toast so wouldn’t have anything to swap!
I really like that black dress the merchant and mills lady is wearing - has anyone seen similar (sadly I am not up to sewing my own🤣)
The recent Toast live video - nothing jumped out saying ‘buy me!’ I liked that tie dye dress but wouldn’t buy it as so ££ (though I appreciate why it is that price).

dudsville · 22/05/2022 12:09

Hi Toasties, I'm feeling hard done by having gone over two months without a Toast sale - it's a long time to go without a fix! I'm thinking about some of their pj's and dressing gowns, which are things I've never purchased from them before.

Also, reading what you were talking about upthread re the stiff denim jacket, chimes with my thoughts about their denim. I have a couple of skirts and they are SUBSTANTIAL to say the least, I love them. However I also have a denim pinafore that's so stiff and heavy that I just never wear it. Also it's sleeveless but so heavy it has to be a winter item layered up, but I don't choose it in winter because it's sleeveless and I have other cosy things to wear then. I'm thinking about turning it into a wrap around skirt but am concerned about trying to work that denim on my cheap old sewing maching!

Anyhoo, there was a sale last June. Fingers crossed we're not too far away from one! I need abcolutely nothing, but their clothes give me endless enjoyment!

ToastCosILoveIt · 22/05/2022 16:42

@dudsville , your "their clothes give me endless joy" just about sums Toast up doesn't it? When they get it right they are fab.

I had a little trying on in the Marylebone store this morning and boght some things. Firstly the patch pocket organic poplin dress:goodness, this is a fab dress. I am high street 12 and bought in a 12 to accommodate my bust but if you are smaller chested you could size down. The weight and the cut are delightful. It has a box pleat at the sides whichi isn't immediately obvious from the photos but it means there is plenty of room to move but it doesn't look too volumous. I bought the mid blue as it will be more practical for me but I will buy the sunshine yellow too if it goes into the sale.

The elm checked gathered dress is lovely and I was very tempted. A size 10 is more than big enough. Again, one for the sale for me.

The frill sleeve organic poplin blouse in marigold wasn't for me. The sleeves looked crazy but perhaps the size I tried on - 12 - was too big.

I bought the cotton linen twill shorts in slate. I had to size up to a 14 for the waist but it didn't make the rest of the shorts look too big. I really like them: they sit on the knee and I am 5ft 5.

The patch pocket cotton linen shirt in spice is lovely - sized down to a 10 as the 12 was big. Yes, it is boxy but it is short and slightly nips in at the waist in a flattering way. It looks great with the twill slate shorts and is smart enough for work as an outfit I think.

I didn't intend on buying the flotsam print gathered dress but tried on the medium and loved it. As it says on the styling video, it can be pulled in to flatter and it is a lovely weight and perfect for summer days.

I wanted to love the gathered neck organic poplin tank top in corallite but the shade of orange definitely wasn't deep enough for me. Do size down: 10 is more than big enough as the 12 had way too much fabric around the shoulders.

I tried the Painted Check Organic Poplin Pinafore Dress on because I wanted to love it but I knew it wouldn't suit me. This is a dress for those of us with a smaller bust I think.

I really have my eye on the Check Ikat Cotton Dress but the price is eye watering. I didn't see it in store but if the cut is the same as the poplin patch pocket dress (which it seems to be) then a size down would be the right fit.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/05/2022 09:41

Sounds like a great expensive trip to Marlyebone @ToastCosILoveIt . Thank you for all the info on sizes, really useful Smile .

Saurus72 · 23/05/2022 12:07

@dudsville Same here, I haven’t bought anything from Toast (have tried and returned a few dresses) since the January sale, I’ve kind of stopped looking with the exception of…

@ToastCosILoveIt the Flotsam dress, which looks so lovely and I’m considering ordering. Do you have the time/inclination to share a picture of you in yours pls? I guess my questions are, how long are the sleeves - not sure cap sleeves are good for me, the sizing - the reviews range from saying it’s v flattering to it’s very oversized, and also whether the gathers are flatteringly skimming. I’m a high street curvy size 14 - so perhaps the medium? Any intel gratefully received 😊

AFingerofFudge · 23/05/2022 12:12

The poplin trousers were a definite no, I felt like a clown. They are beautiful, but if you have any sort of a stomach (I have a rather large one at the moment) then the pleats at the front will give you an unflattering look. They were so bad I couldn't bear to take a photo!

ToastCosILoveIt · 23/05/2022 12:12

@Saurus72 , remind me again, are you on the Facebook Toast Ahoy group? I can post there or can pm you. I

would say medium would be good for you. I am a curvy (including busty) size 12 and there was plenty of room even with the tags pulled in quite a bit. It has a lovely drape to it. I haven't tried it without the tags pulled in but i think yes, in that case it would be very shapeless. I pulled the tags in a little more on what they had already been pulled in on in the shop. I didn't try the small but I expect that would have fitted too.

Saurus72 · 23/05/2022 12:20

Yes I am on the Facebook group - yes sounds like medium would work. It’s everything I like in a dress so maybe too nice to pass up!

ToastCosILoveIt · 23/05/2022 13:35

@Saurus72 , I have posted on Facebook. Yes, a medium would work I think. It is a lovely dress. Note it has a neck tie bit as well - you can see this in the photo on the website. The latest review, posted this am (not by me) sets out how flattering it is and how easy to pull it in to suit your shape and size.

Laska2Meryls · 24/05/2022 12:14

I haven't posted for ages, not bought anything or really even like this last drop, but we have been out in our campervan for the last few weeks and are now very near Kilver Court !! Planning a visit tomorrow....( Am Stupidly excited !).. really hope that they have some good outlet stuff..

OP posts:
ScottishMouse · 24/05/2022 13:40

Same @Laska2Meryls I haven’t bought or looked at much in a while. Not tempted by anything at all at the moment. I’m not even sure there’s anything I would buy in the sale. A very unusual situation for me! 😆

ScottishMouse · 24/05/2022 13:40

I hope you find some lovely bargains at the outlet @Laska2Meryls

mizu · 24/05/2022 19:41

I'm not sure of the colours this season. Went into a TOAST shop recently and there are some lovely things, just not sure the yellows and oranges would suit me.

Kilver Court will be lovely - enjoy!

TheChattyRat · 24/05/2022 20:12

Ooh jealous of your trip to kilver court @Laska2Meryls - do report back!
Has anyone tried either of the denim skirts - I am quite keen on them

AmethystMoonShine · 24/05/2022 20:49

Oh yes please report back @Laska2Meryls ....I've not bought anything since the black jeans belt a few months ago. Really not feeling the love at the moment sadly, or where I do....the price is prohibitive!
Quite like the tie dye dress but the price is too high for me.

Saurus72 · 24/05/2022 20:50

enjoy @Laska2Meryls andbyes please report back! I went in March and bought one summer dress but regretting now as it’s too big. Got caught up in trying to find something to buy 😕

Laska2Meryls · 25/05/2022 08:09

I will, but as we've been camping for over 3 weeks , I look like Mrs Unkempt Grubby of Grubsville .. So I hope they will let me in ! I may not look at all the thing, - despite probably having the odd mushroom about me.. I do have one clean Toast Tee left to wear with my not too clean jeans ...🤣

happysoju · 25/05/2022 08:23

Thanks everyone for the welcome! My items arrived today and alas, looks like I'll have to face the dreaded international returns...

Black Ola sandals: I thought these would be a keeper seeing as I had a similar pair of fisherman sandals from Fracap that I love, however it ran very narrow despite sizing up from my usual Fracap size. And I have narrow feet!
Lovely craftsmanship, but I think I'll be returning these and purchasing a black pair direct from Fracap (for half the price too).

Rowan dress: This dress is beautiful and unfortunately just a tad too small- my bad. I'm usually a 10-12 (small bust, but big shoulders due to rock climbing) and my last purchase got me believing I might be a Toast 8 (jumpsuit in a 10 was enormous).

So I'll be returning both but exchanging the dress for a size 10. Returns cost a hefty $45aud which is annoying. Toast, get your sizing sorted for goodness sake!

AFingerofFudge · 25/05/2022 10:43

@TheChattyRat I have the Patch Pocket Denim skirt and absolutely love it. It's quite stiff material, but in a good way, has a really good shape about it and will be perfect for both summer and winter.
I did try on the contrast stitch denim skirt as well but I didn't like the way it hung. It felt thin and didn't look as good as the photos.

missmoon · 25/05/2022 14:49

I wondered if anyone has tried to return something recently? There are a couple of things I would like to buy, but I'm worried about the returns / refund process, that was a mess a few months ago. Are things working better now?

Sadly, I'm too far from a shop to be able to try on in person. Many thanks!

Snowyowl78 · 25/05/2022 16:03

@missmoon I returned something last week (19th) and it was refunded yesterday (24th). To be honest I’ve never had a problem with returns and I return loads. Perhaps mine goes to a different warehouse or something.

Countmeout · 25/05/2022 16:35

@missmoon i returned something , posted on a Friday refunded by Tuesday. I usually use PayPal which seems to sometimes Be quicker.

I ordered the linen tank top. Small fitting, need a larger size if you have a chest. Hopefully next size making it’s way to me.

looking forward to hearing how you get on at Kilver @Laska2Meryls

Laska2Meryls · 25/05/2022 16:45

Kilver Court was fab! Lots of stuff there .. but I 'reined' myself in .. ( ha ha!) by 'only' buying a linen striped/ embroidered kaftan dress from a couple of seasons ago, some linen trousers in red , a bandana and some replacement felt slippers .. (still managed to spend £200 🤦‍♀️) but all lovely things that I shall wear for years..
They had far more dresses than trousers, and a lot of nightwear, dressing gowns and kantha gowns..A good selection in lots of sizes .. I also looked at the new full price stuff and wasnt taken with much of it tbh...
The Alix trousers this year ( in brown) were particularly disappointing , I thought .. (and of course 175! )..
Anyway definitely worth the trip..
I could have bought much more , a couple of things definitely caught my eye, but I did remember ' only buy for my actual lifestyle ' so thats good. The staff were lovely though.. really friendly and helpful.
